Who has a better chance of defeating Thor?

Slightly Ares I would say but neither has much chance in a random fight so its kind of pointless.

Neither could defeat him but the title of best chances goes to Namor easily..Ares peaks at what 60 tons..A completely moisturized Namor is incredibly powerful and would certainly give Thor a descent fight in a random encounter...

@warlockmage: lol good scan show the one were thor back hands namor and knocks him out ..namor can't beat thor. Never has never will unless he has a gauntlet or something lol. But Area marvel version is no real challenge either. At least major fights well. I gave it to Ares solely based on power since he doesn't like to fight thor but try and use magic attacks

@destinyman75: Ares was one shotted by Herc... Namor has had prolonged fights against Sentry, Thor, Hulk, and Hercules.

Namor is much more consistent than Ares

@warlockmage: good point marvel Ares is kinda a joke. That the only marvel God weaker then his DC counterpart. Namor is defintly a better fighter and I do like him far more. His fights with Gladiator are kool

Namor has a tiny chance if he can get Thor underwater. Ares has no chance despite being my favorite character.

Going with Submariner. Especially if he's hydrated (assuming he's hydrated rather). On paper, according to Marvel, he's meant to be the more powerful of the two. Classic Namor could actually hold his own against Thor for a spell ... but he's since been written so badly. In so many ways.
