well in this comic beta had stormbreaker and its issue 461 and i guess he was not trying to fight thor but thor kicked his ass
It was widely accepted that when they both went all out, that they were pretty much equal. This level of equality was further cemented by the creation of Stormbreaker.
All the handbooks list them as having powers so closely rated that there is little difference.
The only slight advantage that Thor may have would be greater knowledge of the best use of his hammer in a fight.
He still is a top class brick, while Thor has been diluted and his beefcake strategy for fighting guys like Hulk or Sentry just exposed hoe badly Thor has gone to the dogs
Classic version of both : beta ray bill wins, he did beat thor once in order to get the strombreaker Current Version: thor has got some major upgrade, although his powers fluctuate widely.. Current Versions thor wins.
Just to clarify. When Beta Ray Bill and Thor fought, as in, not the first time, where Thor lost his hammer and reverted to Blake, but the time after? Odin rigged the fight so Thor would lose. Im not sure that's a good example to use as a reason Beta Ray wins, especially since the other times they fought Thor has won, and basically Marvel will always favor Thor a bit more (like how Hulk is strongest Hulk, and Surfer is strongest Herald) for all intents and purposes. I think regardless this could go either way. Thor slight majority.

As an aside, those entries were wonky as hell. Surely there's no way to measure how altruistic someone is.
Both have some obviously impressive showings, on different scales. As a character I prefer Bill, but Thor should come away with a majority.

The first time they fought. BRB knocked out Donald Blake, not Thor.
The second time they fought. Odin had set the battle field. The battle field was favor of BRB, he had terrain advantage by a large degree. He knew the terrain inside and out, he even manage to sneak attack Thor. On top of this, the heat of the planet helped BRB revive faster than Thor. BRB barely won this fight. BRB acknowledges this and even admits to Thor, if it wasn't for the battle field, he would have lost. In fact, he goes further on to say, he would have lost if the fight was anywhere else.
Thor also shows more versatility and power with the hammer than BRB does.
Nothing beats the original when it comes to hammers.
@where4artthoucarlos: Dude that pic is so misleading.. this is where BRB was trying to stop thor when he went mad, not trying to hurt him.. he did ask silver surfer to go easy.. later was defeated by thanos (no one was gonna ask him to go easy) so this fight is out of context man. no disrespect intended!
Regular Bill beat Thor twice. No reason he shouldn't beat him with the extra power provided by Stormbreaker. The 2 min rule matters not. Its not like Thor was unaware of his own time limit. Odin supposedly rigging the 2nd fight is only speculation. There is nothing official stating Odin did anything. It's just popular opinion from fans nothing more. Also as far as official stats are concerned Bill beats him there as well.
