Set up:

The Dominion are on there way to our solar system to conquer it but they come across the Covenant and they also want to conquer our solar system and they both go that it with everything they got in an all out war.

Rules:

  • Both armies are bloodlust.
  • Both armies morals are off.
  • Both have everything each side has (though the Covenant don't have asses to the Halo rings).
  • Battle takes place in space and on the nine planets in our solar system.
  • Win by any means necessary.
  • Which ever armies wins get to claim our solar system.

Who wins and why?

Right, allow me to preface this by saying that my knowledge on Halo lore/canon is rather limited so keep that in mind.

It seems to me that the Elites(I don't know their Covenant name so...) and the Jem'Hadar would have a rather similar fighting ethic, fighting for religious reasons and such. The Grunts would get curbstomped, hands down. The Ones with the plasma goo cannon things attached to their arms would basically annihilate everything but a Changeling.

In terms of ground weaponry: The Jem'Hadar and their Polaron rifles would most likely win, simply because of their bleed effect. The Covenant plasma weaponry is hideously outdated by Star Trek terms (They had just gotten past plasma weaponry in Enterprise if my memory is accurate) but it would still be effective against the Jem'Hadar. The Jem'Hadar's spear-like weapon can't even come close in terms of killing power with the Gravity Hammer or the Plasma Sword so I'd give it to the Covenant on that account.

Taking in to account the Jem'Hadar's dependence on Ketracel White, if the Covenant were to somehow destroy or confiscate the Dominion's supply of Ketracel then the fight would go insanely towards the Covenant.

Ship based weaponry comparison; This is the biggest place where my knowledge of Halo canon is limited so if anyone else wants to correct me, by all means, do so.
The Dominion use Polaron Beams/Disruptors and Quantum Torpedoes. The Covenant use (I think) Plasma based weaponry. In the Trek universe the only form of plasma weaponry still around is the Romulan Plasma Torpedo which is pretty powerful, on par with a Quantum torpedo; so if the Covenant's plasma weaponry is anything like that, the Covenant have a fighting chance. The Dominion do use kamikaze tactics but as I do not know the output of the Covenant's shields or if they're even like the Star Trek deflector shields, I can't really compare these.

Planetary Devastation: The Covenant does possess the ability to cover a planet in glass, this is no small feat, but it is a time consuming process leaving the ship doing the glassing open to attack. The Dominion possess Torpedoes specifically designed to level cities, not as devastating as covering a planet in glass but it's a much more efficient alternative.

I'd have to let this be a tie or the Dominion absorbs the Covenant and annihilates Earth.

Also, the third pic you have for the Dominion is actually the new Klingons from Star Trek Into Darkness (That title needs a colon, badly)

Going with the covenants on this one. They win, they have the numbers and resources to win this.

@Cjdavis103 I don't think the ground troops for the dominion were ever stated but their cloning abilities would likely compensate. Their ships, however were stated and they considered 2800 ships to be a small fleet.

I'm not too sure about space, but the Covenant will absolutely massacre the Dominion on the ground.

As with any space war, It is my opinion that the one with a superior navy should win.

ST ships can fight at Warp speed with shields up.

Covenant ships must lower a section of their shield for a brief moment to fire. If I am correct this was used to get MC on a ship in The Fall of Reach and in First Strike to hit a ship with a missile to take down their sensors.

This hole in their shields every time they fire would be a great time to beam a photon torpedo into the Covenant ship.

The Dominion.

It's iffy when determining the Dominion's actual military strength in terms of numbers, but it's been commonly pegged at around 30,000 in total from the given quotes in the show, with most of those being Jem'hadar bug ships I'm certain. Their space fleet is far superior to what the Covenant possesses, and the war in space will decide how things go for the overall effort. You really can't make an argument for the Covenant's ground forces if they're blasted apart well before they even reach the upper atmosphere, and what little that would manage to make it would get just get swamped by Jem'hadar troops and bug ships that followed them into the atmosphere.

Hell, the UFP could take out the Covenant handily, and the Dominion was handing them their behinds for a fair portion of the war.

That's a good question.

I was thinking maybe after the Covenant went to war with humanity.

Well I did say that both the Covenant & the Dominion have everything they ever had (Except for the Halo rings) so your could say both sides are at there height in this battle.
