The Source demands the power within Quantum Bands be returned to itself. It sends Takion out to retrieve the bands. On his quest Takion encounters Quasar and the inevitable conflicts begins...

You heard correctly. Quasar is Marvel's version of a Green Lantern (well, him and Dr. Spectrum). Takion (especially a composite Takion) operates on a substantially higher level as he would be a serious problem for him under normal circumstances. The fact that he also absorbed Highfather Izaya's powers when he assumed the title of Highfather doesn't do Wendall any favors, IMO...

Effortlessly. For he served as similar a purpose for Highfather as Norrin Radd served for Galactus (you know, if Highfather ate planets and whatnot)...

@sly_141: The Abstracts Infinity and Oblivion selected avatars to represent them. Because due to their status & previous agreements can't fight one another. Oblivion chose Maelstrom as an avatar granting him a aspect of his powers. Which was enough to collapse to the universe into a massive black-hole. Infinity responded by choosing Wendell to reverse the process amping him.

The scan above is Wendell directly merging with Infinity in response to Oblivion merging with Maelstrom making the fight balanced (Wendell couldn't defeat a universal abstract with his own power).

Takion is written to be more powerful as he was, pre-New 52, imbued with Izaya the Highfather's lifeforce, connecting him directly to the Source. So a better analogy would be High-Tier Skyfather level like Odin or Zeus without jobbing. And Odin has held his own against a hungry Galactus. Quasar in feats is better just due to volume of appearances but on the Avengers roster I always placed him neck-in-neck with Thor, so High-Tier Herald status along with Black Bolt and Silver Surfer. Odin >> Thor, Galactus >>Silver Surfer, so Takion >>>Quasar. However, Takion doesn't have many feats which sux.
