Mystic Gohan is pretty strong. It's the strongest non SS or fusion form anyone has. But the thing about dbz is that when people get strong, they get stronger. By exponential amounts from one level to the next. SS4 would curbstomp mystic Gohan. Mysitc Gohan is somewhere in between SS2 and 3 forms, like SS2.5

Mystic Gohan was a lot stronger than SS3 Goku, or SS3 fusion Gotenks for that matter. But Goku in GT was, from what I've heard, as strong as Kid Buu in base form. That means by GT base Goku = SS3 Buu saga Goku. That's a huge gap, and I would think by that point, even just SS1 would be able to give MG a run for his money, let alone SS4. 
 
Of course, this is assuming GT makes any kind of sense, and I've heard it doesn't, even by DBZ standards.

ss3 was not as strong, it couldnt beat super buu, but mystic crushed it. What if gohan went super saiyan2 after he was elevated to mystic level? Wouldnt it be that much more powerful or could he reach ssj4 with all that energy?? That happened with goku in gt. In his normal form he was able to beat both frieza and cell at the same time.

Most people figure that the "mystic" stage for Gohan basically superseded the SS transformations, not that it brought his base form up to some ungodly level of power. The most obvious reason to think this is the fight with Buutenks. Gohan was getting his butt kicked pretty bad and was about to get killed until Goku popped up and distracted Buu. You'd think this would have been a prime situation for him to change to SS or SS2 if it were possible for him to do so. Since he didn't, it's generally assumed that he can't. DBZ characters can be dumb sometimes, but deciding not to power up when you're about to die is pretty bad even for them. And from a literary perspective, that's a pretty ridiculously huge plot hole to explain away. 
 
Personally I've always suspected that Toriyama just preferred the way Gohan looked with black hair.

Gohan wins.  SSJ4 Goku is pretty much worthless.   A building, glass, and a clock gave Goku trouble in his SSJ4 state when he shoved a mountain off of himself during his fight with Kid Buu while in SSJ3.

i would say Mystic Gohan is about twice as strong as ssj3 Goku.. probably less, but in GT Goku is said to be as strong as his dbz ssj3 form in his GT base form which then makes him 400 times stronger than he was in dbz (Stupid i know) so GT Goku just turning ssj would beat gohan but then you add the ssj4 modifier which is 10 then he would stand no chance. But if we're saying Goku turned ssj4 during the Buu saga Goku would still be about 5 times stronger than Gohan

all lies. glass never did anything. ssj4 goku lifted half a city, not a building. and a clock didnt do anything. he caught it with his bare hands easily. you ignore goku stopping a planet buster, lifting and chucking oozaru baby, and busting a dimension

how do you know its constant?how do you know it doesnt wear off over time? gt's databook states he can go ssj SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE he did not stop training. so its treating it as an add on to ultimate.

DB online, 100% created and approved by Akira Toriyama, discounts the existence of GT, suggesting it never even happened at all. So SS4 is OFFICIALLY non-canon, along with the rest of GT.

@omegadynasty: your both wrong. That wasn't Ssj4 guys, watch it again that was base goku. DragonBall is inconsistent as a whole. How does Goku in Z struggle with 40 tons. Ssj3 Goku states he can defeat buu Piccolo, than later is afraid to face his base form stating he's too strong. Ssj4 draws it's users power up to its absolute limit. Ssj4 contains the tremendous power of the Golden Great Ape, which is the pinnacle of a saiyans power. Base Goku gt can handle ultimate gohan. Ssj4 goku is overkill. This thread may be done, dunno.
