People still say Mephisto after it's pointed out that they've fought and Surfer won?

When the Surfer won vs Mephisto, did he actually overpower him? or did he just escape because his soul was too pure or something to that effect?

I wanna know the context behind SS defeating Mephisto? Because even Professor Hulk beat Mephisto and without knowing the context behind it you would think "OMG Hulk > Mephisto", but no the showings i saw from Mephisto put him well above those i've seen from SS.

Mephisto was holding back h elater says he could have destroyed the surfer st any moment but that would have denied him his soul. he also compares the surfers power to the yapping of a pup next to the roar of a lion in regards to his own power.

Mephisto would still defeat him post-annihilation if he wasn't holding back/did want to destroy the surfer outside of his realm imo. and stomps him in his realm.

yes sometimes but while he's telling the surfer he's way more powerful he's also easily overpowering Surfer with a blast from one finger if i remember properly. Plus even a broken clock is right twice a day and even Loki tells the truth sometimes, with Scum who lies all the time we can hardly assume that none of the statements they make on panel is intended to never be true by the writers.

Who the hell allowed Surfer to beat Mephisto? Mephisto based on his status should win.

Okay i'm feeling kind, so i'll let you in on a secret (not really a secret) but at the time of Mephisto fighting Silver Surfer, Silver Surfer was pretty much Mephisto's kryptonite due to his inherently "good" soul. Although i'm not sure on whether that's still a thing.

So if Surfer's soul wasn't good, who do you think would win?

Mephisto wins but he can't put down Surfer permanently. Surfer's insanely resistant to absorption and soul attacks
