Superman is weak to magic, but is he strong enough to take the Master of Mystic Arts?
Dr. Strange vs Superman
This topic is locked from further discussion.
bit more of a set up would help. Any prep? Location? Current Version? Etc?
Since Strange is no longer the Sorcerer Supreme, he may be in trouble. The Superman fans will undoubtedly tout his speed as the key to winning this fight.
strange has never faced anything as fast and physical powerful as sups before strange would blink and it would be done
doesn't strange auto shield anymore?
Strange can win if he lands a blow but he's never going to score a clear hit, besides Strange is too mortal
The Dr might be an uber magician but he has no speed feats, and no durability
Even the old Dr Strange fails, in a single second the Superman will blitz his shield with hundreds of punches and break it down to KO the Dr
Superman wins
SUPER MAN WILL TAKE HIS MANFIST AND SHOVE IT UP STRANGES SPARKLY FAIRY BUTT! But i do admire doc strange
It really depends on who attacks first. And since Superman can fly thousands of times faster than Strange can think, he has the better chance of striking first.
This has been done before,

" He'd be dead before he can do anything important(and by "He" I mean Dr. Strange obviously). "obviously current strange. classic sorcerer supreme will blink him out of existence (and by "he", i mean superman obviously).
Love how the first thing that comes to mind is "Superman clearly can't defeat Doctor Strange in a regular fight so let my first post be speed blitz" but when its some one normal the regular post is "superman wins" with no explanation. Anyway Doctor strange doesn't fly around with out a shield 24/7 all day or juggernaut would have killed him the first time he punched him, second the eye usually automatically protects him last I checked so since superman can't win and has to blitz, he'd still loose unless he runs away. Doctor strange can still travel earth at light speed to find Superman one he runs lol.
Dr. Strange's auto-shield withstood Surfer's blast IIRC, it should survive Superman's attacks even multiple times.
It really depends. If Strange is surprise attacking, Superman is screwed. If its a straight up fight, Superman whoops Strange into a puddle.
with pred. Strange wins. other than that its decided if Supes speedblitzs or not. Since Supes can move faster than Stephen can think.
All PIS and CIS aside..... Strange was deemed the best sorcerer of his dimension... Supes can only do so much. he is only physical powerful ( incredibly powerful too lol) but Strange commands forces that Supes wouldnt understand. He could literally snap his fingers and kill Superman. of course he wouldnt do that but he has the potential to do so
If this is current strange supes will most likely win. If this is classic strange than this is a spite thread in the doc's favor
You remember correctly but this thread was made three years ago. I forget when he lost it. Still for battle's sake I just automatically assume modern sorcerer supreme non classic unless the op says otherwise.@Dernman: Strange isn't even the Sorcerer Supreme anymore, if I'm recollecting properly.
@Dernman: He gave it up years ago because he was disconcerted by all the dark magic he had been using (lol), and the title went to Doctor Voodoo, who died shortly thereafter (double lol).
I don't even know what the hell is going on with Strange these days.
well i have to go with the doc on this one ..........
Powers and AbilitiesEdit
Powers
Magic: Dr. Strange is the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth's Universe; he has unparalleled mastery of the mystic arts, which he uses to defend his reality from otherworldly threats; his primary magical patrons are a group of entities known as "the Vishanti." The Vishanti are a trinity of godly beings comprised of Agamotto, Hoggoth, and Oshtur. Although he has, on rare occasions, called upon the power of demons such as Dormammu; Strange more frequently did so before he realized Dormammu's true dark nature in the earlier issues. Doctor Strange is potentially the most powerful being on Earth and one of the most powerful beings in the Universe. He has once stated that he can kill a mortal with the twitch of a finger. Eternity, the sentience of the Marvel Universe, has described Strange as "more powerful by far than any of your fellow humanoids", narration has described him as "the mightiest magician in the cosmos", and the Stranger considers him on a level with cosmic entities.
Universal Source: By manipulating the ambient mystical energy of this universe, Dr. Strange can perform a great many functions. Commonly this is seen as energy bolts that range from low power to planet destroying he uses this mystical energy to cast spells of a near infinite variety . . .
Dr. Strange has also been shown to amass as much wealth/gold as he desires using magic, as he has done to pay debts.
Divine Sources: Dr. Strange can channel the virtually unlimited extra-dimensional energy of nigh-omnipotent mystical and non-mystical beings in multiple dimensions (known as Principalities) to empower his spells. This can take the form of standard spells ("Crimson Bands of Cyttorak") or just stating what he wants to occur and channeling some being to make it happen. It is unknown at this time what debt, if any, he incurs by invoking the powers that be. There is no strict quid pro quo (as the simple acknowledgement and invoking of the entity increases the entity's own powers, inexplicably), though some entities will feel he is obliged to heed their call when they need help in their conflicts as did the Vishanti.
This ability to be a conduit to multiversal power sources has given rise to the phrase "Dr. Strange is as powerful as the god he invokes."
Doctor Strange's powers typically come from one of three divine sources: The Vishanti (a trinity formed of Hoggoth, Oshtur, and Agamotto), the Octessence (a group of eight beings, consisting of Balthakk, Cyttorak, Farallah, Ikonn, Krakkan, Raggadorr, Valtorr, and Watoomb) and other beings who owe him a debt (this includes Satannish and even Dormammu). However, certain abilties of his stem from more obscure sources, such as the Faltine, the Seraphim, Cinnibus, Sheol, Ikthalon, Denak, Cyndriarr, Munnopor, Morpheus, Dyzakk, the Olympian deities (such as Poseidon and Hades) and others.
Darkness of the Divine Conduit (Black Magic): By sheer force of will "take" the power of another entity. This does not require the use of a spell. He used this ability against Arioch and Shuma-Gorath. The fact that Stephen can do this is a testament to his incredible will-power and strength of mind. This is considered black magic and as such he rarely employs this. Also when taking the powers of celestial entities he absorbs the mind and assumes their duties and roles in the dimension in which they exist. If his will falters, he can lose all sense of self.
Although Dr. Strange primarily uses spells that are considered 'white magic', he will use spells from other disciplines such as black magic, elemental magic, and catastrophe magic when necessary.
Dr. Strange's powers are all mystical but take several forms. Main manifestations include:
- In the miniseries "The Oath", it is said that he cannot use magic that can replicate anything discovered by human science.
- By force of will, Dr. Strange can "take" the power of another entity. This does not require the use of a spell. He uses this ability against Captain Universe as well as against Arioch and Shuma-Gorath in Strange Tales (vol. 2). Strange also uses this to drain the Wrecking Crew of the Asgardian magic they had been infused by Karnilla, though this causes him great mental agony and takes a long time. This is considered black magic and as such, he rarely employs this. Also, when taking the powers of omnipotent entities, he can absorb their mind and assume their duties and roles in the dimension in which they exist. But, if his will falters, he can lose all sense of self.
- In the Black Magic saga in Strange Tales (vol. 2), Dr. Strange also became proficient in Black Magic under the tutelage of Kaluu, including using the necromantic energy released in death for various effects. After he purged Shuma-Gorath from himself, he has since stopped using black magic.
- At a certain period, Dr. Strange became a receptacle of Earth's Gaia magic through the use of a forge built with the support of all his magical artifacts. This energy was exhausted in the War of Seven Spheres.
- For a brief period, research from the Vishanti library led Strange to tap into "catastrophe magic" by invoking a mystical alignment of all the planets, but this source of magic was limited and he ceased using it specifically as a source of his power.
- Strange's magical powers at their greatest peak exceeds that of even the Watcher Uatu and rivals that of other great beings, such as the Heralds of Galactus or Ronan the Accuser. Strange has been said to be able to destroy the Hulk with a twitch of his finger.
........ and if he is able to destroy the hulk with a finger twitch and hulk isnt weak to magic then supes would get his ass whope quick ..... and for u fanboys i dont think high and mighty supes would take a finger twitch as a threat and wont try to speed blitz ........or maybe im wrong
If strange could destroy hulk with a twitch of his finger,,why couldn't a zom empowered strange stop him? WWH shows that whom ever said "strange could destroy hulk with a twitch of his finger"is BS'n
@one_two_three: He can now use Black Magic I believe. He got the title of sorcerer supreme back because he was able to use the dark arts without succumbing to evil like Dr. Doom does. So that just makes him stronger.

A twitch of a finger is a little exasperating. Strange would have to form a spell and move his fingers in small circles. Why Zom story happened? Well that happened because they wanted a brawl showing for WWH. And they also wanted a reason to take Strange's powers away from him. I would blame marvel politics.
well still supes isnt the type to prep for a battle most of the time he goes in to battle head on and i still dont think supes would take the old doc as a threat not knowing that the docs powers r magic and try to aborbs a blast from the doc thinking that it wouldnt harm him much and its not like the doc has to sit there and yell out what he's casting since im preety sure he can just think about it since he has telepathic abilities ... but once again i could be wrong
: /
true and also to make supes fans little happy if there was 2 fights i will alway give the first to the doc and the second to supes mainly because like i said supes isnt the type to battle prep without having a fight with the enemy first and he's the JL tank so is more likely to try and take a shot from the doc thinking he wont get harmed there for doc gets first shot and supes gets screwed second fight he would know to use speed blitz right off the back and still the doc's auto shield might be able to get the doc another shot but if he breaks threw supes wins the second fight ............... and by the way just cause supes has a ton of abilities its doesnt mean he uses all of the right off the back in first fights cause he normally he doesnt to test out the waters and see what he's up againts .......so
