Fight in Colosseum   
Shepard can call in 1 squad member of his choice to support him for 2 minute in the first round ONLY
 
1st round- Basic weaponry for both combatants 
Master Chief gets an Assault rifle, shotgun and 2 frags 
Shepard has access to soldier and infiltrator(includes temporary camo, battle drone) classes. 
 
2nd round- Straight up fist-to-fist combat 
Who wins and why?

As much as I like Shepard he loses both fights, Chief has superhuman stats and reflexes and is an expert in all weaponry

Only a full-on Adept Shepherd would win this.

Hmm, I thought giving him some support in the 1st round from a squad member would have at least evened the fight a little bit.

I can see Liara making a large difference, being an Asari.  That bald chick from Mass Effect 2 with all the tattoos would tip master chief apart.

Shepard because of better kick ass writing :)

Shepard would only win if he was an adept or a vanguard, but any Shep without biotics would go sown hard.

The Widow or Claymore could probably take down Chief with 1 or 2 hits.

Round 1- Sheperd. MC isn't penetrating his shields with those things. 
Round 2- MC.

Chief simply walks right up to Shepard and gives him a taste of 10 gauge magnum. don't get me wrong, I like Shepard and Mass Effect but Shepard is a normal guy while Chief is a Super Soldier, He has Armor that can take .50 Caliber Rounds, A shield that recharges, and Is far faster than Shepard. I know Shepard has Armor and a Shield to but I don't think it will stand up against MJOLNIR Armor MK. V or MK. VI.

When he was 14 he infiltrated a Rebel Base in an Asteroid and killed 100+ people in total, AFTER being shot, WITHOUT his armor, just basic body armor. When he got his armor he celebrated by blowing up a Covenant Cruiser.

Commander Shephard headbutts Krogans, he wins.

Ok so I see I am a little late in posting on this discussion but I feel like putting in my two cents worth.

So first round goes to shep.

Reasons and how it goes down: squad member chosen Legion or EDI now I would choose these because the Mjolnir is vulnerable to their hacking(they are both AI's EDI would do better due to her Cyberbnetic Reaper Combat software) and could simply get MC to fight himself( if you argue Cortanna can access his suit).

Round 2:

This could go either way' now I am assuming sheperd can't use his/her powers but he/she still has access to their omni-tool now seeing as this was posted 2 years ago how ever Mass effect 3 was announced in 2010so back on track the feature of the omni-tool is of course the omni-blade this would give sheperd a clear advantage, now if some 1 is like " well that's like giving mc an energy blade." No it is not and energy blade is an external weapon that's is required to be carried whereas an omni-blade is part of an omni-tool which is an implant, meaning it is a computer that has been harwired to the brain any who enough of my rant I will wait to see any replies.

The only way for Shepard to win if he has biotics, or is a vanguard.

Eh; depends. Shepard might call in EDI or Legion (or even Tali, considering she is an expert at hacking AI's) if information about Master Chief's gear and capabilities is available; if not, it's more likely Shepard would call in someone like Garrus.

Shepard could win the first round with a biotic partner or someone with disrupter ammo, maybe the armor shredding ammo.

second round MC wins pretty easily.

Also In terms of standerd load out every class that sheperd was playable as had access to heavy weapons, taking that into factor, the 920 Cain would make short work of MC

Round 1:

Sherpard "May" go through MC shields, but no way you're going to penetrate that armor.

MC doesn't even need a gun for round 1. Since his a super soldier. And soldiers obey commands, If someone of higher rank told MC to kill Commander Shepard. Speed feats up to 300 mph, and a superman punch to the face/body would result in a pile of gore.

Frag grenades in Halo have been proven to destroy/ critical damage vehicles / tanks and mostly insta kill humanoid enemies like a four group of shielded and full armored elites.

Mass effect grenades are very weak. . Playing the game, They do next to nothing, maybe harming an enemy. Most it would do would be killing the nearest enemy and just injuring others nearby. The grenades in the game without doubt takes out the full shield of shepard, when the grenades in Halo takes around half of his shield when up close. MC's Grenade might not finish the job of shepard, but it will do critical damage, maybe even incap.

For the hacking of MC's armor, It has been attempted before and totally failed. A counter reaction to hacking would make Cortana active and interupt.

Round 2:

Again . . . Super Soldier. . . Overpowered Armor. MC stomps Shepard, bionic or not. MC armor was able to withstand a fall from space and he was still totally fine. So I would believe bionic attacks would do no damage the armor. Being able to defeat Batman at h2h in other threads, Again super speed of 300 mph, Nanosecond reaction time, Strength of being able to lift 3 tons [If I remember correctly] And Spartan training.

Plus Rengineering of his Genetic structure also makes him stronger without his armor on. . .

A regular Spartan would make Commander Shepard look like a normal unsc marine.

A fairer match would be Masterchief without his armor when he was 14 vs commander shepard.

Tali - Can easy Lock Down Master Chief Armour and 2 Combat Drones, Shield Drone, and Sentry is too much to handle.

Liara - ........ LOLOLOL Stasis.

Jack - Obvius Biotic Power.

Samantha - Reave and Biotics again.

Miranda - She is also a super Biotic!

Grunt - Could swing either way in Sheperds favor here.

Wrex - Krogan Biotic equals WINNING!

Also people underestimate the 2 classes Sheperd is here.

Combat Drone with lightning is a win!

Also Sheperd's guns are near Hyper Sonic and in some cases Hyper Sonic thanks to Mass Accelerators.

Even the weaker Scimitar Shot Gun at a range blast apart huge pieces of Stone with ease! Master Chief migh as well be hit with a Sniper Rifle every shot with the mere Weapons of Mass Effect.

Master Chief gets Curb Stomp in round one.

Round 2 he win handily.

He cant run 300 mph thats crazy he can only run up to 55 mph and also his suit cant be shut down. (I have the Fall Of Reach book on my nook just cant copy and paste)

First Round, Shepard. Especially if he gets to carry all his weapons like ME 1.

Second round goes to MC unless this is Adept or Vanguard Shepard.

1. If this were biotic Shep then he would win the first round no contest. It doesn't matter if you can't be damaged from one fall, Shepard can continuously slam you with his biotics until your brain is rattled inside your head. Plus you couldn't touch him, it doesn't matter how fast you could run if your feet don't touch the ground long enough for you to do anything. Seeing as this is not biotic Shepard, than Liara should be able to seal the deal or even Wrex.

2. In h2h Shep is at a loss if MC has super strength and super speed, though I really think the battle was clearly put in MC's favor as Shepard was not allowed to use biotics (which is like taking Master Chief's super strength away which probably should've happened if you wanted this fight to be even).

First round could go either way but i think Master Chief takes it .

Second round Master chief slaughters Shepard with ease .

I think what Shepard has more than MC is the quality of leadership, he is in all senses of the word a "commander". What he accomplished in his adventures he did those with a team of strangers who came to be his most loyal teammates, literally followed him to hell and back. MC is capable but his lack of personality really makes him the inferior leader here. Maybe MC can win a fight against Shepard, but like the song says "he will never be better than commander Shepard."

Now onto the battle:

First I think Mass Effect universe has better shielding than Halo. Personal shield tech in ME came from advanced civilizations hundreds of years ahead of what earth had during first contact wars. That aside, you also have barrier abilities either tech or biotic. I saw a biotic barrier tank multiple bombardments, so its strength is at least on par with halo bubble shield. Maybe MC can dish out more but it'd be silly to think he can tank more than even common marine in ME universe.

First round obviously goes to Shepard because of biotic which MC can do nothing against. Any teammate with biotic will shut him down.

Second round could go either way, as I have explained, MC can dish out more but Shepard can take more. In the end I think it would be a draw. Shepard can't deal enough damage to hurt Mjolnir and MC can't punch through Shepard's shield either. If we take off defenses, then I would give this round to MC just because he is augmented when Shepard is just peak human.

Shepard for round one. Chief wins round two without much if any difficulty.

For Round 1, it depends on who Shepard calls for help. But more than likely Shepard. Round 2, Chief stomps.

Master chief wins both rounds.

Shepard Commander both rounds.Round 1 is a curbstomp.

Sheperd wins both rounds. Especially a biotic sheperd class.

Shepard doesn't really need a squad mate. He wins first round. Second round goes to Chief with the armor on.
