Also. Dante so totally wins through sheer awesomeness.

You know, thanks to DMC3, he doesn't need it since he actually possesses the power to stop time on his own through Quicksilver.

Ah, in that case I'll just say he doesn't have access to his time stoppage abilities.

Anyway, this is a CAV between NeonGameWave and I. If you could save your input until after we're done, that'd be great.

Right, of course.

Now, would you mind waiting until NeonGameWave and I are finished? This debate is between me and him.

Anyway, I'll start with Palpatine's lightsaber abilities and physical capabilities

Firstly, Palatine's speed is far above Dante's, allow to elaborate.

You often describe his speed as Hyper-sonic plus, correct? Well, Hyper-sonic is defined as approximately Mach 5, and High-Hyper-sonic is Mach 25.

Now, Mach 25 is approximately 8 507.25 metres per second.

But compared to Palpatine?

Palpatine can react so fast that Anakin Skywalker cannot see him, only the after images of his blade:

Anakin blinked and rubbed his eyes again. Maybe he was still a bit flash-blind—the Korun Master seemed to be fading in and out of existence, half swallowed by a thickening black haze in which danced a meter-long bar of sunfire. Mace pressed back the darkness with a relentless straight-ahead march; his own blade, that distinctive amethyst blaze that had been the final sight of so many evil beings across the galaxy, made a haze of its own: an oblate sphere of purple fire within which there seemed to be dozens of swords slashing in all directions at once.

The shadow he fought, that blur of speed—could that be Palpatine?

Their blades flared and flashed, crashing together with bursts of fire, weaving nets of killing energy in exchanges so fast that Anakin could not truly see them—but he could feel them in the Force. The Force itself roiled and burst and crashed around them, boiling with power and lightspeed ricochets of lethal intent. And it was darkening.

He could feel the end of this battle approaching, and so could the blur of Sith he faced; in the Force, the shadow had become a pulsar of fear.

Yet Anakin can react to a ship flying at a fraction of light-speed:

Obi-Wan was already making that exact move as Anakin spoke. But they were inverted to each other: breaking right shot him one way while Anakin whipped the other. The tri-fighters' cannons ripped space between them, tracking faster than their starfighters could slip. His onboard threat display chimed a warning: two of the droids had remote sensor locks on him. The others must have lit up his partner. "Anakin! Slip-jaws!"

"My thought exactly."

They blew past the tri-fighters, looping in evasive spirals. The droid ships wrenched themselves into pursuit maneuvers that would have killed any living pilot. The slip-jaws maneuver was named for the scissorlike mandibles of the Kashyyyk slash-spider. Droids closing rapidly on their tails, cannonfire stitching space on all sides, the two Jedi pulled their ships through perfectly mirrored rolls that sent them streaking head-on for each other from opposite ends of a vast Republic cruiser. For merely human pilots, this would be suicide. By the time you can see your partner's starfighter streaking toward you at a respectable fraction of lightspeed, it's already too late for your merely human reflexes to react.

But these particular pilots were far from merely human.

The Force nudged hands on control yokes and the Jedi starfighters twisted and flashed past each other belly-to-belly, close enough to scorch each other's paint.

1% of light-speed is 2 997 924.58 metres per second. A "respectable fraction" would have to be quite a bit faster then that. And yet Anakin couldn't see Palpatine move.

In short, Palpatine is MUCH faster then Dante, by a very large margin.

Palpatine's also durable enough to withstand a ton falling on his head with little difficulty:

When Leia tried to kill the Emperor by dropping a cooling unit on him, Palpatine shrugged off the crushing impact of a ton of machinery.

--Taken from Handbook Volume Three: Dark Empire

He can survive leaping from a skyscraper with no damage:

The Malastare ambassador’s residence occupied three mid-tier stories of a slender building located at the edge of the government district. The front of the residence looked out on the stand-alone Galactic Courts of the Justice Building, but the rear faced a narrow canyon that was more than fifty levels deep and off limits to traffic. Following directions furnished by Pestage, Sidious rode turbolifts and pedestrian walkways to a meager balcony ten levels above the upper story of the residence. His fury notwithstanding, he would have preferred to linger until nightfall, which came early to that part of Coruscant, but he was certain that the Gran were expecting word that the Maladians had satisfied the terms of the contract, and he couldn’t risk having them flee for the stars before he got to them. So he lingered on the balcony until it and the walkway in both directions were unoccupied, then jumped from the overlook and called on the Force to deliver him safely to a narrow ledge that ran beneath the lowest floor of the residence.

--Taken from Darth Plagueis

Beforereceiving any training in the Force whatsoever, Palpatine could crush people's heads and rip off limbs:

Cosinga exhaled deeply. “I know that you are of my blood, because I had you tested, just to be certain. But in truth, I don’t know where you came from—who or what you’re actually descended from.” He glared at Palpatine. “Yes, there it is: that glower I have been on the receiving end of for seventeen long years. As if you want to murder me. Murder has always been in your thoughts, hasn’t it? You’ve merely been waiting for someone to grant you permission to act.”

A darkness came over Palpatine’s face. “I don’t need anyone’s permission.”

“Precisely. You’re an animal at heart.”

“King of the beasts, Father,” Palpatine said.

“I knew this day would come. I’ve known it since the first moment I tried to swaddle you, and you fought me with a strength that was too powerful for your size or age.”

Palpatine looked out from beneath his quirked brows. “I was born mature, Father, fully grown, and you hated me for it, because you grasped that I was everything you can never be.”

“Hated you more than you know,” Cosinga said, allowing his ire to rise once more. “Enough to want to kill you from the start.”

Palpatine stood his ground. “Then you had better do it now.”

Cosinga took a step in Palpatine’s direction, only to be hurled back against the bulkhead separating the communications room from the main cabin. A female voice from behind the closed hatch asked in distress, “What was that?”

Nursing an injured shoulder, Cosinga looked suddenly like a trapped animal, his eyes wide with surprise and fear. He made a move to strike the handplate that opened the hatch, but Palpatine thwarted his effort without raising a finger. Twisting violently around, Cosinga fell over one of the acceleration chairs, bloodying his face as it struck the armrest.

A pounding began on the hatch.

“Guards!” Cosinga shouted, but the word had barely left his lips when the bulkhead against which he was slouched buckled inward, heaving him face-first to the floor and driving the breath from him.

Palpatine stood rooted in place, his hands trembling in front of him and his face stricken. Something stirred behind his incandescent eyes. He heard the pounding on the hatch and whirled.

“Don’t come in! Stay away from me!”

“What have you done?” It was his mother’s voice, panicked. “What have you done?”

Cosinga pushed himself to his knees and began a terrified retreat, leaving smears of blood on the deck. But Palpatine was advancing on him now.

“If the Force birthed you, then I curse it!”

Cosinga rasped. “I curse it!”

“As I do,” Palpatine growled.

The hatch began to slide to, and he heard the voice of the guard who had escorted him from theJafan III.

“Stop!”

“Cosinga!” his mother screamed.

Palpatine pressed the palms of his hands to his head, then in eerie calm streaked to the hatch, pulled the surprised guard through the threshold, and tossed him clear across the cabin.

Once more Sidious allowed his memories to unfold, and he relived the crime—the event, as he had at last come to think of it. His father's limp and bloodied body. The smashed skulls of the bodyguards.

“Fool,” Plagueis derided him. “Success doesn’t come from summoning help from the Force, but from taking control of it and generating the power from within yourself.” He sighed theatrically. “Still, I’m somewhat encouraged by the progress you’ve made. Mere centimeters from me now, almost within arm’s reach. Soon I’ll be able to feel your breath on my neck and perceive the heat of your rage—your desire to kill me, as if by doing so, you could lay claim to the authority I embody.” He paused but didn’t move, much less glance over his shoulder. “You want to strangle me, like you did your poor, misunderstood mother; tear me limb from limb as you did the bodyguards. Fair enough. But to do so you will have to make a greater effort, Apprentice.”

--Taken from Darth Plagueis

He's could overpower both Darth Maul and Savage Oppress, who are quite physically strong (Oppress in particular), while only playing with them:

Maul sprang to his feet and ignited his lightsaber. Savage did the same. The two Zabraks stared grimly at the hooded figure. Sidious retrieved a pair of elegant-looking lightsabers from within the depths of his robes and ignited them. The blades turned his pale face a hellish red.

Maul and Savage didn’t waste time seeking an advantageous position. They simply charged, blades shimmering, trying to overpower Sidious with the animal ferocity of their attack. Sidious caught their sabers on his, the weapons howling and crackling where they touched. Maul saw that Savage was startled by the seemingly frail man’s enormous strength. Maul stared at his Master’s face. He saw the strain as Sidious called upon the Force to keep the brothers at bay. But there was something else there, too—a terrible pleasure. Sidious began to grin.

--Taken from Darth Maul: Shadow Conspiracy

And he's lifted an injured Anakin Skywalker with ease:

And on Mustafar, below the red thunder of a volcano, a Sith Lord had already snatched from sand of black glass the charred torso and head of what once had been a man, and had already leapt for the cliffbank above with effortless strength, and had already roared to his clones to bring the medical capsule immediately!

--Taken from Revenge of the Sith

Granted, I doubt these would be on Dante's level, but I doubt Dante will be knocking his weapon from him (assuming he's given the chance), due to the fact he can use the Force to amp his physical capabilities such as strength.

Furthermore, Palpatine is superior to Dante in terms of skill and technique, as he is a master of all 7 forms of Lightsaber combat (and being able to use his weapon ambidextrously).

In blade-to-blade combat, Sidious can use everything from the precision of Makashi, Soresu's near impenetrable defense, Juyo's chaotic barrages of assault, to Djem So's raw power ect.

In terms of a pure sword duel, there's not a situation that Dante could get Palpatine in that he couldn't counter and gain an advantage in.

To sum up:

- Palpatine's speed is far greater than Dante's

- Palpatine's force enhanced strength, agility and durability will help him

- Palpatine's skill as a duelist means that Dante can't rely on just a "hack and slash" mentality, or he's going to get outmaneuvered by Palpatine's superior skill

@comicstooge: Amazing start!!

Now Dante is extremely powerful and his abilities accompany as well as accommodate for a huge variety of gifts that range from weaponry and personal raw power. Now to understand the basis and climb to amassing of information we will start off in small categories due to how much Dante can do and is capable of.

Speed

Now Dante is extremely fast he is able to dodge, bullets, missiles, lightning and is even fast enough to shoot bullets out of the air with absolute ease which already showcases his speed range is from Mach 1 and above at his lowest as well as youngest, things get more complicated once Dante progresses in power.

Dante`s speed, reaction time, accuracy, reflexes and senses are really impressive as well.

Dante is hypersonic+ in overall speed and is above Mach 5.

Loading Video...

4:45 - 5: 25 able to shoot multiple pool balls accurately into all of the demons and he does so with absolute ease he also battles with them at a very fast pace.

Loading Video...

10:34 - 10:50, Dante reacts to an incoming missile and he hops onto the missile with no effort, and this is coming in at fast speeds.

Loading Video...

At point 2:31, you can see Dante cut and react to an incoming missile also Dante wasn`t even really paying attention to it he just reacted to it like it was nothing.

Loading Video...

At point 1:14 - 2:45, Dante in a short burst vanishes and fires accurately at the demon armor also this is Dante in human form, in Devil Trigger form he would be more than five times as fast.

Loading Video...

At point 0:15 - 0:24, Dante easily and with great marksmanship fires multiple bullets to force Yamato into the Savior also this shows that Dante does not only have great speed and timing but he also has great accuracy.

Dante also has his Trickster Style which is pretty much even with Vergil`s Dark Slayer Style which Dante mastered and its even instantaneous in movement, its a form of teleportation, Dante has access to both styles also.

Trickster Style

Air Trick: Disappear in the blink of an eye, then reappear above the enemy ready to strike.

Dark Slayer Style

OFFICIAL GAME and MANUAL DESCRIPTIONS:

Air TrickInstantaneously teleport to a spot directly near the enemy.
Level 2
Trick Up++Instantaneously teleport to a spot directly above where you were standing or jumping.
Level 3
Trick Down++

Instantaneously teleport to a spot directly below where you were standing or jumping.

As you can see based on this introduction, Dante has a ton of feats and is a massive POWERHOUSE -literally. He is very underrated its quite the challenge more than expected to even place and structure all of his feats in a condensed method due to how many he has in correlation with his in game abilities which is why I decided to categorize them and keep them a bit minimized to a small degree on a fair level.

Devil May Cry, Enemy File — Plasma: "Alastor is the form of "Spirit of Lightning". It only obeys commands of the chosen one. Hence, the powers of the Alastor do not work effectively against the Plasma."

Devil May Cry Game Manual

Devil May Cry, Devil Arms — Alastor: "Gives the possessor lightning speed and aerial capabilities."

Devil May Cry, Alastor: "I am Alastor. The weak shall give their heart and swear their eternal loyalty to me."

Loading Video...

As you can see by the official in game manuals and mechanics, Alastor grants the user lightning based reflexes as well as combat speed and it is shown within gameplay as well as it grants Dante the ability of light as well but the most important thing is that Dante becomes faster than lightning in DMC 4 when he battles with the lightning demon named Blitz which moves at the speed of lightning. This confirms that Dante`s speed has dramatically and drastically increased since his DMC 1 debut to the forefront, his speed is technically a quarter of light speed but he becomes relativistic - FTL speed by DMC 2 as he is able to move faster than what the thought and mind can process or perceive.

Loading Video...

Dante even during DMC 1 is able to react to Mundus` light beam attack and he does this instantly he is able to deflect this magic with his aura alone and it shows that Dante`s reflexes are really more than impressive.

Loading Video...

At point 1:28 - 1:52, you can see Dante react to the light beam and reflect it with little effort, but Dante since then is a lot more faster during DMC 2 in which he should be able to move at speeds FTL considering the fact that he surpasses lightning speeds, reflexes and reactions during DMC 4 and even demon kings who posses a demonic awareness or advanced mind cannot detect his movements which furthers my point thus confirmed fact.

Loading Video...

At point 0:22 - 1:10, Dante is able to fire bullets out of the air from a sub machine gun and pistol also he is able to effortlessly dodge these bullets close range without effort at all and this is Dante in his human form.

Lady is the same individual who is experienced in great reflexes and accuracy as she also has great agility but Dante is able outmaneuver her with no effort whatsoever, this is Dante at his youngest not realizing his true potential.

Loading Video...
Loading Video...

At point 1:01 - 1:30, as shown Dante with no effort blitzes a demon king who possess high awareness and also has reality warping abilities that are planetary level this is an ancient demon with a lot of experience yet Dante is able to surprise this demon and best it with ease, he instantly dodges the Despair Embodied and has it destroyed easily with one charged attack destroying its entire being which includes, its mind, soul and body.

Loading Video...

As you can see at point 7:34 - 8:44, Dante after awakening his Devil Trigger within his base form is able to charge midair and fire his twin pistols, Ebony and Ivory with ease while destroying a couple of demons on the way also within one of the moments he is able to stylishly but also easily maneuver himself in a spiral fashion repelling a lot of demons who were surrounding and crowding him he does this with immense speed and this shows that Dante is fast in the air as much as he is fast on the ground.

Loading Video...

At point 3:35 - 3:44 he is shown to being able to even easily outpace and dodge the Savior`s punch this statue is infused with demonic ancient demonic energies and has a high awareness as well, Dante dodges this being with little effort he is easily playing around with it while dodging and he does this as soon as the Savior regains it`s balance.

  1. Devil May Cry 4, Boss File — The Savior: "The most powerful demon brought forth by the Order of the Sword. Its exterior, oft-mistaken to be a god, holds a millennia of demonic matter and spirit melded together. With the blood of Sparda and his ancient sword, it will be possible to control The Savior for the first time."
  2. Devil May Cry 4, Boss File — The False Savior: "Completely assimilating the body of Sanctus, the False Savior may fall short of a true god’s power; however, its repulsive tenacity means one must not let their eyes stray from it for too long. Bring forth final judgment upon this atrocity!"
  3. During the battle with the False Savior, Nero's sword and gun are ineffective. And thus, the only way of defeating it is by using Buster.

Durability and Healing Factor

Now Dante`s durability and healing factor is ridiculous, he is shown to being able to heal instantly to the point that it is near impossible to even remove his limbs or dismember him, he has survived being crushed, cut by Yamato which can through dimensions and reality, Dante` demonic blood which he inherited from Sparda protects him against its abilities and magic, he survived being impaled int he chest, electrocuted and a multitude of other things. Its almost impossible to kill him, he can`t die by conventional means and it would take something of great force to being able to one shot him even in his base form he survives these things without the help of his Devil Trigger which just triples all of his attributes.

Dante`s impressive durability feats

Dante survives being cut by Yamato and impaled by his sword right after by his brother Vergil. 1:07-2:30

Survives being cut by Yamato, even when in a weakened state and is mostly drained of his battle with Vergil. This is a younger Dante too. 3:12

Dante is not crushed by the force of a high level demon of brute strength such as Beowulf.

Survives bullet to the head.

Is not bothered by the flames nor temperature of Berial the Conqueror of the Fire Hell in which his flames are of hell fire.

Survives being impaled through the chest by a supernatural weapon of lightning.

Survives the attack or assault of the angry and flaming Ifrit as its flames are hotter than that of a volcano.

Survives being impaled in the chest by three of Mundus` laser beams. 0:46-0:48

Survives Mundus` powerful and life threatening eye beams once again and is directly hit by Mundus`s summoned meteorites but once the next battle begins, he does not look worn out or severely damaged. 6:18-6:25

2:37-3:33

His face is still intact after being pummelled mercilessly by an angry Nero`s Devil Bringer which is able to crack stone and block Rebellion and he also survives being impaled directly in the chest by Rebellion once again and shrugs it off, he also removes Rebellion, showing no signs of pain or discomfort.

Shows no signs of pain when being impaled by several Hell Prides` scythes and just shrugs it off while removing the broken pieces. 1:42-2:13

Smiles and is annoyed due to being impaled by the demon Sid who violently impaled him with his own sword, and he violently removes rebellion from his chest without hesitation. 2:17-3:40

Survives Trish`s demonic lightning which was given to her by Mundus himself. He also survives as well as shrugs off being impaled by Force Edge. 2:14-3:05

Dante also has Chrono Heart which would help him in this fight.

devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/Amulet

Here are some more feats for Dante in regards to damage outisde of physical injury.

He is able to resist a powerful artifact that can drain one`s soul which in exchange gives power to the one who wields it. 00:00-2:40

devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/Nightmare

5:39-7:21

Dante is able to grasp an artifact of great demonic magic which drains the soul of its essence however it grants the holder and wielder temporary power, Dante is able to resist it and doesn`t collapse or black out this is Dante at his youngest. Here are official in game descriptions of the item and its connection to the different bridges powered throughout the game.

Devil May Cry 3, Key Item File — Neo-Generator: "A magic artifact able to supply power for an eternity. It is used to power the main bridge."

Devil May Cry 3, Key Item File — Haywire Neo-Generator: "He who holds this broken device is irradiated and their soul is drained in exchange for power."

Loading Video...

1:12 - 1:30

Loading Video...

0:02 - 4:11

Dante is impaled by his own sword Rebellion violently in the chest as well as heart by the demon Sid who becomes the godlike demon Abigail however this doesn`t phase Dante as he just laughs and removes the blade causing Patty to want to remove the sword but what she fails to realize was that Dante was only taking a nap intently and purposely, joking around as usual and he removes the sword with a smile, removing without hesitation feeling no pain or discomfort.

Dante is far more skilled than Palpatine he self taught himself when he was only a young kid and he was able to take on his brother Vergil at the age of 18, and Vergil is a wise as well as very skilled swordsman who specializes in the technique and mastery of laido, Dante`s very stylish with his swordplay but he is also very skilled as well as straight to the point he even was able to outmatch great swordsman from the Underworld who were trained by Sparda himself and Sparda was the most skilled being in the demon world, Dante being bloodlusted would kill Palpatine in a flash due to the fact that he has never shown his true power, ever. He always holds back and is not bloodlusted too much until DMC 2 while at the age of 60, Dante`s father Sparda is a 2000+ year old ancient demon who was a general of Mundus` army and he defeated him with not only his power, willpower but also his skills in weaponry he even forged his own weapons, Dante himself crafted his twin pistols and customized them.

Dante`s weapons

Now in every game Dante is shown to have an accessibility of many kinds in regards to his weaponry, now Dante has one of the biggest arsenals ever when including all of his canon material.

No Caption Provided

Ebony and Ivory are Dante`s trademark guns in which they have unlimited ammo and even channel Dante`s demonic energy which contains magical extensions as well. What makes them more impressive is the simple fact that they were made and customized as well as crafted by Dante himself showing how creative as well as resourceful he truly is within the depths of his creativity.

  1. Devil May Cry, Guns — Ebony & Ivory: "Dante's hand-made guns."
  2. Devil May Cry 2, Weapon File — Handguns: "Dante’s hand-made twin pistols. They fire bullets with magic power."
  3. Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, Guns File — Ebony & Ivory: "Dante's personally designed handguns made for rapid fire action."
  4. Devil May Cry 4, Dante's Arms File — Ebony & Ivory: "Personally designed by Dante, these pistols are the weapons of choice when rapid-fire is a necessity."
  5. Devil May Cry 3, Code: 1 — Dante, Dante's Weapons — Ivory: "Ivory, his right gun, is custom built for rapid firing. Various parts are rounded to ensure fast draw times."
  6. Devil May Cry 3, Code: 1 — Dante, Dante's Weapons — Ebony: "Ebony, his left gun, has been modified for long-distance targeting. it is designed for comfort and accuracy."

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, Customize Guns — Ebony & Ivory: "Raises max firepower."

At point 2:50 - 3:58 you can see the emphasis of Vergil`s skill of using laido and he wrecks these demons easily with mere slashes from Yamato.

Loading Video...

At point 2:41 - 7:46, as you can see Dante takes on Baul and Modeus who are exceptionally well trained in combat and swordplay, Dante defeats both of them with absolute ease, both of them were students of Sparda and trained under him, yet Dante defeats them in sheer combat this shows on how skilled Dante is and he never showed his true potential with these abilities he is always playing around or getting straight to the point in which he is annihilates his enemies in other words to sum this all up.

Dante is faster if not as fast as Palpatine in sheer combat and he has a lot going for him, he can fly, teleport and speedblitz which is within his nature even when not bloodlusted he reaches these speeds. Dante is faster than lightning and has high resistance against lightning as well, also the Alastor weapon has a form of precognitive abilities which alerts Dante even further due to his demonic connections with his weaponry.

Palpatine wouldn`t be able to kill Dante even in his human form, force lightning won`t affect him, Force Crush wouldn`t be powerful enough to constrict and constrain him either due to the fact that his Devil Trigger form would release instantly also he heals instantaneously no matter how deep or grievous the wound or injury and he laughs at these life threatening events even in human form.

Dante is far more skilled than Palpatine he is able to compete and defeat Vergil a vastly skilled swordsman of great wisdom who studies and self trains immeasurably, Dante defeats his father`s students and his father was the most skilled demon of all of the demon world and Dante even customizes his own weapons as he has a connection with them.

Dante`s mastery over a great multtitude of weapons.

Loading Video...
Loading Video...
Loading Video...

Here are Alastor`s precognitive abilities notice how it glows, emits an aura and reacts to when an enemy is present, Dante always masters a weapon instantly even when he first retrieves it.

Loading Video...

0:01 - 0:07, Alastor`s electricity increases and is shown to react aggressively

7:51-7:58, his DT reacts instantly to Nero`s assault

0:09-0:15, the DT activates and Dante`s heightened supernatural senses are shown to be connected to his atmospheric sense

This showcases Dante`s Devil Trigger functionality in which he has even an atmospheric sense able to sense things throughout the air and predict movements so he would be able to predict Palpatine`s movements and he would know where to strike him so adding to his speed advantage is prediction, enhanced and multiple senses and precognitive alertness.

Light travels at 186,000 miles per second in a vacuum. So the light from a flash of lightning travels at the speed of light in air, which is slightly less than the speed of light in a vacuum (e.g. space).

The speed of light in a vacuum is 186,282 miles per second (299,792 kilometers per second).

Dante moves faster than lightning by a massive margin not even at his strongest he is moving faster than the velocity and raw output of speed than lightning which makes him close to being the speed of light during DMC 4 but in DMC 2 which takes place years later Dante definitely is able to move faster than lightning itself and thus move at FTL speeds so he shouldn`t have a problem with Palpatine when it comes to speed considering the fact that he can teleport, fly and increase his speed with his Devil Trigger forms.

Contrary to popular to popular belief, lightning is actually not light, though it does generate it. It's electrostatic discharge.

Lightning can travel 96,540,000 metres per second, while light travels 299,792,458 metres per second.

I'd like to point out that Anakin, the aforementioned Jedi that couldn't even see Palpatine, could dodge lightning too:

Anakin's speeder shrieked through the rain, dodging forked bolts of lightning that shot up from towers into the clouds, slicing across traffic lanes, screaming past spacescrapers so fast that his shock-wake cracked windows as he passed.

--Taken from Revenge of the Sith

I think this might edge Palpatine as being the faster of the two.

Anyway, I'd like to point out Sidious's considerable sensory ability:

Sidious also has precognitive of his own:

But strong as he had become, Maul found himself in awe of Sidious. The Sith Lord was astonishingly fast and efficient, and the Force flowed through him effortlessly. His sabers stabbed and slashed through the smallest hole in an opponent’s guard, his movements never carried him a millimeter out of position, and he could sense every attack Maul and Savage made before it developed.

--Taken from Darth Maul: Shadow Conspiracy

He can sense the thoughts, feelings and access the strength level of his opponents and he can mentally track them and know where they are and where they will be going:

Here is the aforementioned tracking ability:

Maul bowed his head and hurried up the rear boarding ramp into the cockpit module. Sidious lingered to watch the ship rise and edge out of the hangar, becoming invisible as it flew over The Works. Through the dark side, he continued to track the Scimitar as it angled north toward the Jedi Temple rather than south, and away from the Senate District.

--Taken from Darth Plagueis

Here's his empathy and telepathy:

"This rivalry between Lommite Limited and InterGalactic Ore intrigues me," Sidious was saying as he moved about the cavernous den that was both his sanctuary and repository. The hood of his cowl was raised over his lined face, and the hem of his robe trailed on the gleaming floor. His voice was a rasp, absent emotion but not without instances of intentional inflection.

"I see a way that we might exploit this entanglement to our own gain," he continued. "A push here, a shove there, and both mining companies will collapse. Thus, we will be able to deliver Dorvalla to the Trade Federation—the ore, the trade routes, Dorvalla's vote in the senate—and, in so doing, gain the further allegiance of Viceroy Gunray and his lackeys."

Sidious removed his hands from the ample sleeves of his robe. "Viceroy Gunray claims to be persuaded of the worth of serving us, but I want him fully in our grasp, so that there can be no doubt of his heeding my commands. With Dorvalla secured, he will likely be promoted to a permanent position on the Trade Federation Directorate. We can then further our larger plan."

Sidious cast his hooded gaze across the room to a deeply shadowed area in which Darth Maul sat silent as a statue, his tattooed face lowered, so that all Sidious could see was the crown of vestigial horns that sprouted from his hairless skull.

"Your thoughts betray you, my young apprentice," he remarked. "You are puzzled by my steadfast interest in the Neimoidians."

Darth Maul lifted his face, and what scant light there was seemed to recoil. Where his Master represented all that was concealed and mysterious in the Sith, Maul was the personification of all that was to be feared.

"From you, Master, I cannot hide what I feel. The Neimoidians are greedy and weak-willed. I find them unworthy."

--Taken from Darth Maul: Saboteur

He can drain knowledge from his opponents. He could potentially use this to learn everything about Dante, his moves, weapons, abilities etc:

There was no great collection of Dark Side lore, nor any gather of its masters. Realizing the task that lay before him, Palpatine knew he must begin at once to attain control over the Dark Side. With the resources of the galaxy at his disposal, he gathered the greatest works of knowledge from over a million worlds. He studied the Force in all its guises throughout the galaxy, whether it was the shamanism of Jarvashqiine or the tales of the Tyia. Coupled with the perversions of the secrets he ripped from the living minds of Jedi he captured during the Purge, he learned more than ever expected.

--Taken from Dark Empire Sourcebook

Palpatine's telepathic abilities are so powerful he can dominate the minds of a population of almost 20 billion:

Throughout the worlds submissive to the Empire, Byss is renowned as a paradise, whose siren call multitudes to willingly apply for emigration to its shores. Once there, wrapped in the power of the dark side, the immigrants become completely submissive, their life energy forever enslaved to the mind that would devour a galaxy.

--Taken from the Dark Empire endnotes

What better lure for multitudes than Byss's siren call of beauty and peace? Once there, their wills are destroyed by the Emperor and his Adepts, and replaced with an illusion of tranquility as they blissfully surrender their life energy to sustain the Emperor.

--Taken from the Dark Empire Sourcebook

If you want proof of the population of Byss: http://web.archive.org/web/20100226123647/http://wizards.com/default.asp?x=starwars/article/sw20050414planet1

Palpatine can mentally wipe the minds of millions at a time, too (though this is by no means the limit of his telepathic abilities):

The Lusankya—aSuper Star Destroyer eight kilometerslength—laid waste to the area beneath which it had lain buried for years. Green turbolaser bolts pounded the cityscape, freeing the ship from the ferrocrete and transparisteel prison in which it had laired. Wedge knew Super Star Destroyers had only come into service after the Battle of Yavin, which meant the Lusankya had to have been created and hidden on Coruscant before the battle of Endor. Unless the constructor droids just built it there, then built over it. The idea that a hundred-square-kilometer area of the planet could have been razed and rebuilt to hide a Super Star Destroyer seemed beyond belief, especially with no one noticing the ship's insertion into the hole. Could the Emperor's power through the dark side of the Force have been sufficient to compel thousands or millions of people to forget having seen the Lusankya being buried? As hideous as that idea seemed, Wedge hoped it was the truth. The likely alternative—that the Emperor had ordered the deaths of all the witnesses—seemed that much more horrible.

--Taken from

X-Wing: Krytos Trap

Now director of the Imperial Intelligence, Ysanne worked to demonstrate the usefulness of her office to the only person that mattered—the Emperor. Impressed with her suggestion to build a combination internment center and brainwashing facility, Palpatine gave her the Super Star DesteroyerExecutor from the Kuat shipyards—a twin to Vader’s Executor from Fondor. She renamed the vessel Lusankya, and, with help from the Emperor’s mind-fogging powers, Imperial engineers buried the tremendous battleship beneath the cityscape in Coruscant’s Manarai Mountain district.

Basically, Dante won't be able to teleport behind Sidious without him sensing it and using his superior reaction speed to counter. He'll know his every intention and feeling throughout the fight.

Now in regards to Dante's skills being greater then Palpatine's, I don't believe that to be the case:

Palpatine stalemated Yoda (another master of all 7 styles) in their duel, having to resort of his Force abilities to overpower his opponent:

Yoda rose.

A gesture opened the grating of the vent shaft where he had waited in meditation, revealing the vast conic well that was the Grand Convocation Chamber of the Galactic Senate. It was sometimes called the Senate Arena. Today, this nickname would be particularly apt.

Yoda stretched blood back into his green flesh. This was his time. Nine hundred years of study and training, of teaching and of meditation, all now focused, and refined, and resolved into this single moment; the sole purpose of his vast span of existence had been to prepare him to enter the heart of night and bring his light against the darkness. He adjusted the angle of his blade against his belt. He draped his robe across his shoulders. With reverence, with gratitude, without fear, and without anger, Yoda went forth to war.

A silvery flash outside caught Darth Vader's eye, as though an elegantly curved mirror swung through the smoke and cinders, picking up the shine of white-hot lava. From one knee, he could look right through the holoscan of his Master while he continued his report. He was no longer afraid; he was too busy pretending to be respectful.

"The Separatist leadership is no more, my Master."

"It is finished, then."

The image offered a translucent mockery of a smile.

"You have restored peace and justice to the galaxy, Lord Vader."

"That is my sole ambition, Master."

The image tilted its head, its smile twisting without transition to a scowl.

"Lord Vader—I sense a disturbance in the Force. You may be in danger."

He glanced at the mirror flash outside; he knew that ship.

In danger of being kissed to death, perhaps...

"How should I be in danger, Master?"

"I cannot say. But the danger is real; be mindful."

Be mindful, be mindful, he thought with a mental sneer.

Is that the best you can do? I could get that much from Obi-Wan...

"I will, my Master. Thank you." The image faded. He got to his feet, and now the sneer was on his lips and in his eyes. "You're the one who should be mindful, my 'Master.' I am a disturbance in the Force."

Outside, the sleek skiff settled to the deck. He spent a moment reassembling his Anakin Skywalker face: he let Anakin Skywalker's love flow through him, let Anakin Skywalker's glad smile come to his lips, let Anakin Skywalker's youthful energy bring a joyous bounce to his step as he trotted to the entrance over the mess of corpses and severed body parts. He'd meet her outside, and he'd keep her outside. He had a feeling she wouldn't approve of the way he had...redecorated...the control center.

And after all,he thought with a mental shrug, there's no arguing taste...

The holding office of the Supreme Chancellor of the Republic comprised the nether vertex of the Senate Arena; it was little more than a circular preparations area, a green room, where guests of the Chancellor might be entertained before entering the Senate Podium—the circular pod on its immense hydraulic pillar, which contained controls that coordinated the movement of floating Senate delegation pods—and rising into the focal point of the chamber above. Above that podium, the vast holopresence of a kneeling Sith bowed before a shadow that stood below. Guards in scarlet flanked the shadow; a Chagrian toady cringed nearby.

"But the danger is real; be mindful."

"I will, my Master. Thank you."

The holopresence faded, and where its huge translucency had knelt was now revealed another presence, a physical presence, tiny and aged, clad in robes and leaning on a twist of wood. But his physical presence was an illusion; the truth of him could be seen only in the Force. In the Force, he was a fountain of light. "Pity your new disciple I do; so lately an apprentice, so soon without a Master."

"Why, Master Yoda, what a delightful surprise! Welcome!" The voice of the shadow hummed with anticipation. "Let me be the first to wish you Happy Empire Day!"

"Find it happy, you will not. Nor will the murderer you call Vader."

"Ah." The shadow stepped closer to the light. "So that is the threat I felt. Who is it, if I may ask? Who have you sent to kill him?"

"Enough it is that you know your own destroyer."

"Oh, pish, Master Yoda. It wouldn't be Kenobi, would it?

Please say it's Kenobi—Lord Vader gets such a thrill from killing people who care for him..."

Behind the shadow, some meters away, Mas Amedda—the Chagrian toady who was Speaker of the Galactic Senate—heard a whisper in Palpatine's voice.

Flee.

He did.

Neither light nor shadow gave his exit a glance.

"So easily slain, Obi-Wan is not."

"Neither are you, apparently; but that is about to change." The shadow took another step, and another. A lightsaber appeared, green as sunlight in a forest. "The test of that, today will be."

"Even a fraction of the dark side is more power than your Jedi arrogance can conceive; living in the light, you have never seen the depth of the darkness." The shadow spread arms that made its sleeves into black wings. "Until now."

Lightning speared from outstretched hands, and the battle was on.

In the Senate Arena, lightning forked from the hands of a Sith, and bent away from the gesture of a Jedi to shock Redrobes into unconsciousness. Then there were only the two of them.

Their clash transcended the personal; when new lightning blazed, it was not Palpatine burning Yoda with his hate, it was the Lord of all Sith scorching the Master of all Jedi into a smoldering huddle of clothing and green flesh. A thousand years of hidden Sith exulted in their victory.

"Your time is over! The Sith rule the galaxy! Now and forever!"

And it was the whole of the Jedi Order that rocketed from its huddle, making of its own body a weapon to blast the Sith to the ground.

"At an end your rule is, and not short enough it was, I must say." There appeared a blade the color of life.

From the shadow of a black wing, a small weapon—a holdout, an easily concealed backup, a tiny bit of treachery expressing the core of Sith mastery—slid into a withered hand and spat a flame-colored blade of its own.

When those blades met, it was more than Yoda against Palpatine, more the millennia of Sith against the legions of Jedi; this was the expression of the fundamental conflict of the universe itself.

Light against dark.

Winner takes all.

There came a turning point in the clash of the light against the dark. It did not come from a flash of lightning or slash of energy blade, though there were these in plenty; it did not come from a flying kick or a surgically precise punch, though these were traded, too.

It came as the battle shifted from the holding office to the great Chancellor's Podium; it came as the hydraulic lift beneath the Podium raised it on its tower of durasteel a hundred meters and more, so that it became a laserpoint of battle flaring at the focus of the vast emptiness of the Senate Arena; it came as the Force and the podium's controls ripped delegation pods free of the curving walls and made of them hammers, battering rams, catapult stones crashing and crushing against each other in a rolling thunder-roar that echoed the Senate's cheers for the galaxy's new Emperor.

It came when the avatar of light resolved into the lineage of the Jedi; when the lineage of the Jedi refined into one single Jedi. It came when Yoda found himself alone against the dark.

In that lightning-speared tornado of feet and fists and blades and bashing machines, his vision finally pierced the darkness that had clouded the Force. Finally, he saw the truth.

This truth: that he, the avatar of light, Supreme Master of the Jedi Order, the fiercest, most implacable, most devastatingly powerful foe the darkness had ever known...

just—

didn't—

have

it.

He'd never had it. He had lost before he started. He had lost before he was born. The Sith had changed. The Sith had grown, had adapted, had invested a thousand years' intensive study into every aspect of not only the Force but Jedi lore itself, in preparation for exactly this day. The Sith had remade themselves. They had become new.

While the Jedi—

The Jedi had spent that same millennium training to refight the last war. The new Sith could not be destroyed with a lightsaber; they could not be burned away by any torch of the Force. The brighter his light, the darker their shadow. How could one win a war against the dark, when war itself had become the dark's own weapon?

He knew, at that instant, that this insight held the hope of the galaxy. But if he fell here, that hope would die with him. Hmmm, Yoda thought. A problem this is...

The end came with astonishing suddenness. The shadow could feel how much it cost the little green freak to bend back his lightnings into the cage of energy that enclosed them both; the creature had reached the limits of his strength. The shadow released its power for an instant, long enough only to whirl away through the air and alight upon one of the delegation pods as it flew past, and the creature leapt to follow—

--Taken from Revenge of the Sith

Yoda was indeed the best Jedi within the Order at the time:

To the uninitiated, lightsaber combat can seem like a confusing blur of swipes and blade clashes, but on close examination, the secrets of the Jedi Knights become clear. To understand the combat of these warriors, we must delve into the sacred history of the fabled Seven Forms of Jedi lightsaber combat and look at how these have played out in the Star Wars saga. Only then can we understand the extraordinary combat moves of Yoda, perhaps the greatest lightsaber master the Jedi Order has ever seen.

--Taken from Insider #62: Fightsaber: Jedi Lightsaber Combat

This is an organization brimming with prodigious duelists who spend their entire lives training, yet Yoda is their very best and Palpatine is his equal.

Palpatine's lightning and TK abilities not being able to put Dante down, he would defiantly not want to get hit by him:

Palpatine's lightning has is powerful enough and has the range to decimate small armies:

No Caption Provided

Palpatine's lightning can effect his opponents internal organs as well, while not even close to full power:

“No,” Maul heard himself gasp. “Have mercy. Please...”

“There is no mercy,” Sidious said.

Bolts of energy ripped out from the Sith Lord’s fingers, tendrils of brilliant blue and purple that danced across Maul’s tattooed skin and ripped through his muscles, his organs. His mechanical legs convulsed, shorting out.

“You belong to me,” Sidious said. “Your existence is now perfectly meaningless.”

He stretched out his fingers and the energy tore through Maul again. Sidious watched the lightning build in intensity, his eyes unblinking, his teeth gritted in a triumphant, terrible smile.

--Taken from Darth Maul: Shadow Conspiracy

Sidious could overpower the likes of Mace Windu, despite his mastery of Vaapad, which is specifically tailored for fighting darksiders and the fact that lightsabers can defend from lightning:

Lightning blasted the clouds above, and lightning blasted from Palpatine's hands, and Mace didn't have time to comprehend what Palpatine was talking about; he had time only to slip back into Vaapad and angle his blade to catch the forking arcs of pure, dazzling hatred that clawed toward him. Because Vaapad is more than a fighting style. It is a state of mind: a channel for darkness. Power passed into him and out again without touching him. And the circuit completed itself: the lightning reflected back to its source.

Palpatine still made no move to defend himself from Skywalker; instead he ramped up the lightning bursting from his hands, bending the fountain of Mace's blade back toward the Korun Master's face.

Mace's blade bent so close to his face that he was choking on ozone. "Anakin, he's too strong for me—"

This was beyond Vaapad; he had no strength left to fight against his own blade.

--Taken from Revenge of the Sith

Sidious was capable of overpowing Yoda's Force Aborption ability:

The end came with astonishing suddenness. The shadow could feel how much it cost the little green freak to bend back his lightnings into the cage of energy that enclosed them both; the creature had reached the limits of his strength.

--Taken from Revenge of the Sith

Also, in the Force Unleashed novel, Starkiller compares being hit by Palpatine's lightning to "having a star explode in his chest"

Even as an apprentice Palpatine had such control of his abilities he could rip out his opponent's heart or break their necks:

Sidious masked his smile: the Shimmersilk had a back room.

He stood clumsily, leaning deliberately toward one of the security men, gauging his body temperature, heart rate, and respiration. “I’m slightly intoxicated. I may have to count on you for support.”

The man made a sound of exasperation but allowed Sidious to place one arm on his shoulder.

How effortless it would be,

he thought, as the dark began to rise in him, searing and hungry, yearning to assume control of his body and unleash itself,

to break the necks of both of them, to tear their beating hearts from their chests, to hurl and plaster them against the walls, to bring the entire sour-smelling place down on their heads...

But he didn’t. He needed to meet his abductor. He needed to learn the names of all those responsible. He needed to prove to his Master that he was adroit and capable—a true Sith Lord.

--Taken from Darth Plagueis

And yeah, Sidious does possess the Force Choke ability:

He again employs Choke on Maul, lifting him in the air and nearly rendering him unconscious.

It was in the early days when Lord Sidious was secretly working to consolidate the strength of the Trade Federation. My mission was to go to the planet Chryya and ensure that their thriving spice business would be turned over to the Trade Federation to manage. I would accomplish this through threats and intimidation. I would not reveal my Sith powers unless I left my opponent dead.

At first, I was successful. A few incidents convinced the frightened merchants to sign all the agreements. But then one merchant organized a protest. Before I could move against him, a groundswell grew among the people. Every citizen of Chryya destroyed their spice supplies rather than give in to the Trade Federation. They wrecked their economy for principle. I had not forseen this. In my experience, creatures are guided by their own comforts. I could not kill the entire population, so I had to leave and report my failure to my Master.

He did not take it well. He raised a hand, and the dark side grabbed me by the throat and lifted me high. My breath was squeezed out of me slowly. Too slowly. I had time to feel every stretched-out moment of panic as I struggled to force even the tiniest trickle of air into my lungs. When I was close to passing out, I was dropped to the floor in a heap. My Master walked away. He did not address me or call for me for some time. The removal of his favor was worse than the punishment.

--Taken from Episode 1 Journal: Darth Maul

And he can telekineticly through around opponents:

Maul’s saber spun out of his hand, bouncing away across the floor. Then Sidious seized his former apprentice with the Force, hurling him against the wall. Maul’s vision swam. He tried to get up, but realized he was already in the air, held aloft by the Force. Sidious slammed him into the floor. Then Maul was off the ground again, legs kicking for purchase in empty air. He could taste blood in his mouth. His head hit the wall with a sickening crunch.

A rhyme crept into his head, a nagging sing-song bit of poetry.

Far above, far above,

We don’t know where we’ll fall.

Far above, far above.

What once was great is rendered small.

Maul could no longer remember where he had heard it, or what it meant. He was broken, helpless, useless.

“No,” Maul heard himself gasp. “Have mercy. Please...”

--Taken from Darth Maul: Shadow Conspiracy

Does Dante have a counter for this other then simply tanking it? Because Palpatine could just TK him in mid-air leave him up there and continuously batter and assault him with his force powers to weaken him.

And actually, most of my scans are before Palpatine reached his peak, at the time of Dark Empire:

Resurrected in a youthful clone body, Palpatine does not reveal himself immediately. Studying the dark side of the Force to become more powerful, his education results in three manifestos: The Book of Anger, The Weakness of Inferiors, and The Creation of Monsters.

--Taken from The Ultimate Visual Guide

So it stands to reason that Palpatine's attacks would be even MORE powerful.

Also, I doubt Dante's guns will be all that great a factor in the fight.

Palpatine while still in training and not even remotely close to his physical peak was capable of blocking blaster bolts from 200 hundred shooters, simultaneously:

On Hypori they were the prey, standing back-to-back in their black zeyd-cloth hooded robes at the center of concentric rings of droids, retrofitted by Baktoid Armor to function as combat automata. Two hundred programmed assailants—bipedal, treaded, some levitated by antigrav generators—armed with a variety of weapons, ranging from hand blasters to short-barreled burst-rifles. Plagueis hadn't allowed his young apprentice to wield a lightsaber until a few years earlier, but Sidious was brandishing one now, self-constructed of phrik alloy and aurodium, and powered by a synthetic crystal. Made for delicate, long-fingered hands—as much a work of art as a weapon—the lightsaber thrummed as he waved the blade from side to side in front of him.

"Every weapon, manufactured by whatever species, has its own properties and peculiarities," Plagueis was saying, his own blade angled toward the ferrocrete floor of the battledome's fabricated cityscape, as if to light a fuse. "Range, penetrating power, refresh rate... In some instances your life might depend on your ability to focus on the weapon rather than the wielder. You must train yourself to identify a weapon instantly—whether it's a product of BlasTech or Merr-Sonn, Tenloss or Prax—so that you will know where to position yourself, and the several ways to best deflect a well-aimed bolt."

Plagueis put his words into action as the first ring of droids began to converge on them, staggering the attack and triggering bursts at random. Orbiting Sidious, the Muun's blade warded off every volley, returning the bolts to their sources, or deflecting them into the facades of the faux buildings surrounding them or into other droids. At other times Plagueis made no attempt to redirect the attacks, but simply torqued his rangy body, allowing the bolts to miss him by centimeters. Around the two Sith, the automata collapsed one after the next, gushing lubricants from holed reservoirs or exploding in a hail of alloy parts, until all were heaped on the ferrocrete floor.

"The next ring is yours," Plagueis said.

Rugged, uninhabited Hypori belonged to the Techno Union, whose Skakoan foreman, Wat Tambor, owed his seat in the Republic Senate to Damask Holdings. In exchange, the bionic humanoid had made Hypori available as a training ground for members of the Echani Sun Guard and provided the necessary battle droids. Calling in another favor, Hego Damask had requested a private session in the fabricated cityscape, so that Plagueis and his apprentice could be free to employ lightsabers—though only for the purpose of deflecting bolts rather than dismemberment or penetration.

When it came Sidious's turn to demonstrate his skill, Plagueis spoke continuously from behind him, adding distraction to the distinct possibility of inadvertent disintegration.

"A being trained in the killing arts doesn't wait for you to acquire him as a target, or establish him or herself as an opponent, as if in some martial arts contest. Your reactions must be instantaneous and nothing less than lethal, for you are a Sith Lord, and will be marked for death."

The droids continued to converge, ring after ring of them, until the floor was piled high with smoking husks. Plagueis issued a voice command that brought the onslaught to an abrupt end and deactivated his lightsaber. The pinging of cooling weapons, the hiss of escaping gas, the unsteady whir of failing servomotors punctuated the sudden silence. Alloy limbs spasmed and photoreceptors winked out, surrendering their eerie glow. The recycled air was rotten with the smell of fried circuitry.

Dante can teleport but also fly and his speed is above Palpatine`s, Dante also has the greater stamina also beings with great speed and high awareness have had problems in tagging or comprehending Dante`s movements, Palpatine wouldn`t be any different.

That is impressive but Dante defeated a very skilled laido user and surpassed his father a 2000 year old demon who trained in the demon world and he defeated his students with ease. Dante has his Swordmaster Style and Dark Slayer style which is a testament to his skill he has self taught himself and mastered all of his weapons.

This is an organization brimming with prodigious duelists who spend their entire lives training, yet Yoda is their very best and Palpatine is his equal.

Palpatine's lightning and TK abilities not being able to put Dante down, he would defiantly not want to get hit by him:

It has decimated armies of enemies who were weak in the durability department compared to Dante who brushes off demonic weapons of mass destruction piercing his heart and Dante has resisted mind control, charms also he has resisted his consciousness being manipulated by the demon named Nightmare which was created by Mundus and Dante has high resistance against lightning also he uses the element itself.

Palpatine's lightning has is powerful enough and has the range to decimate small armies:

Dante has Majin Form which activates when he is in critical health and it makes him invulnerable to all attacks also he has Royal Guard which could block Palpatine`s force lightning and redirect it back at him also it heals Dante as well, Dante uses telekinesis as well, I doubt Palpatine would be able to override his will.

Dante at his absolute weakest and youngest has dealt with what Palpatine had to offer what makes it more complicated is the fact that Dante becomes so powerful to the point that never has to show his true potential and nothing is able to test his limits, so it would take someone awfully more powerful to do so and Palpatine isn`t that one.

Dante`s insane resistances

Dante is pretty much highly resistant to most if not all elements and has a great degree of resistance when it comes to magic.

Lets start with the element of ice now Dante`s Devil Trigger protects him from extremely cold tempatures that reach below sub zero temperatures and within DMC 4 he was shown to be able to resist and not be affected by the cold that was created by the Frost who emit said temperatures.

Now next is lightning which also is a testament and contribution to Dante`s speed he was able to compete, sense and react to Blitz who moves at the speed of lightning.

No Caption Provided

http://devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/Blitz

No Caption Provided

http://devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/Griffon

Now onto the element of fire, Dante is not immune to these elements by the way but he is definitely highly resistant in opposition towards them and Dante adapts quickly too, he was able to tank Ifrit a gauntlet that utilized hell fire which was hotter than a volcano as well as magma and Dante casually sat on Berial Conqueror of the Fire Hell`s tail in which Berial rules a realm or hell that is conceived in pure hell fire and the hottest fires.

Now that pretty much wraps up all of the elements now something interesting that might raise an eyebrow in the form of a question is Dante immune or have a strong resistance against telepathy or telepathic assault? The answer is yes.

Now Dante doesn`t only have a strong will and mind composed with his magical/demonic energy but he also has a decent deal of experiences that deal with the factors of the mind in the form of magical charms, hypnosis and psychic manipulations.

Now to begin we will start off with Nightmare, what makes this demon very deadly is the fact that it was created by Mundus himself the same godlike demon who can communicate spiritually, on another plane and in some ways telepathically, and this Nightmare demon was specifically made for Dante in particular. This creature feeds off of Dante`s Devil Trigger energy while using that same energy to attack his mind by delving into his subconsciousness. The spirits take the form of Dante`s trauma and it takes place in a dimension in the form of Dante`s complete mind/conscious, Dante is able to resist the spirits and break out free from the dimension the light in a sense symbolizes his will power or mind breaking free.

5:41 - 7:22

http://devilmaycry.wikia.com/wiki/Nightmare

Devil May Cry, Enemy File — Nightmare: "When you are surrounded in its gel-like form, you will be teleported into an evil dimension. You must defeat the evil spirits that rule the dimension. The evil is a reflection of Dante’s trauma that rests in his subconscious."

Devil May Cry, Enemy File — Nightmare: "The core has the power to absorb magical powers, and it does not exclude Dante’s powers. If it starts to absorb, damage the core to stop the absorption. When it absorbs enough magical powers, it will activate its own Devil Trigger and start attacking with tremendous force."

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Ze1UELRWTI4

1:51 - 2:03

Here is the second video notice the difference in effect.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=o6NhZG7pcT0

6:26 - 6:38

Another being that deals with the mind is Nevan who initiates a form of mind control on Dante but within the Devil Trigger form he is immune and cannot be captured or harmed.

Mind tricks shouldn`t be able to work on Dante, a powerful telepath can invade his mind but I don`t think they can bend his will or turn him into a vegetable especially when he is in his Devil Trigger form.

One thing that might surprise many is Dante`s TELEKINETIC ABILITIES which are are shown throughout the canon anime and DMC 1 game.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=-qJhwicSCB4

2:56 - 3:11

Dante is able to repel and hold the motorcycle in midair leaving it suspended and then he destroys it with ease. A telekinetic character might not be able to affect Dante either who possesses a powerful will behind his powers.

Dante summons Rebellion to his hand before stomping Abigail a demon who rivaled Mundus in power.

@comicstooge: Also I don`t see Palpatine getting passed Royal Guard, Pandora`s Omen or Dante`s Majin Form also there`s Yamato which can cut through dimensions as well as space.

Royal Guard

Now this stylized technique is very important considering the fact that Dante nearly has the ultimate defense that many overlook this ability blocks and redirects energy attacks, projectiles as well as physical attacks but at the enemy with multiple the force depending on how much is charged. It also heals Dante as well. Palpatine wouldn`t be able to get through this ultimate defense it will heal Dante, protect him from all damage and also redirect the force back at the thrower, Dante is too versatile and powerful for Palpatine to handle, Dante has fought enemies similar to Palpatine but Palpatine has never faced anybody such as Dante and nothing close to him ever.

Doppleganger

A clone that cannot be harmed also it possesses all of Dante`s abilities. Dante would be able to utilize this style with no worries at all considering it would serve as a distraction and Palpatine cannot harm it and it obeys as well as responds to Dante`s will. While Palpatine is thinking that his attacks would be harming Dante he will find it only to be Dante`s Doppleganger and the being can freeze him in a block ice with Cerberus or use Yamato to cut through him like paper.

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, Style File — Doppelganger: "Style that allows the player to control shadows, effectively creating copies of himself to assist in battle."

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening, Doppelganger Style: "Special power used by the Doppelganger enemy. This Style gives you more freedom in battle to try out different tactics and combos."

AFTER-IMAGE - Initiate a dimensional light-rift causing a second shadow version of yourself in DT form to appear. Also, while in Doppelganger mode, you will constantly consume DT energy. Doing this puts you in DT form also but negates healing and enhanced skills.

Dante can even create a second Doppelganger clone and use it to do battle so Palpatine would be dealing with three Dante`s at once also all of them can transform into their Devil Trigger forms.

I didn`t even include Majin Form yet or Yamato and neither did I include Dreadnaught form as well as Pandora`s Omen which makes it even harder for Palpatine, a bloodlusted Dante is a force to be reckoned with.

My point is that Dante is far faster than lightning even when holding back and on top of his insane speed he could fly as well as teleport also he possesses a form of precognition.

I understand your point dude, it's cool.

Though, I gotta ask why he would hold back when dodging something?

However, Palpatine's precognitive, empathic and mind reading abilities will counter Dante's teleportation.

Dante's precognition, while impressive, isn't up to scratch with Palpatine's. Not only can he sense his opponents moves in the short term, but in the long term too.

Once again, Darth Sidious had divined the actions they would take well in advance of their own deciding. The talent had less to do with being able to peer into the future, than with having access to streams of possibilities. Sidious wasn't unerring. He could be surprised or taken off his guard—as at Geonosis, as in the case of Gunray's mechno-chair—but not for long. His mastery of the dark side of the Force endowed him with the power to decipher the currents that comprised the future, and to comprehend that while those currents were manifold, they were not boundless. Such mastery was one of the skills that distinguished Sidious from Yoda, who believed the future was so much in motion it could not be read with any clarity—especially during times when the dark side was on the ascendant. But how could Yoda be expected to see the whole picture with one eye closed? Deliberately closed.

--Taken from Labyrinth of Evil

And he can even use the Force to guide himself and find an opportunity to kill Dante:

A few meters distant, Sidious came to a halt, gazing at Plagueis for a long moment, as though making up his mind about something. Then, blowing out his breath, he set his own glass down and reached for the cloak he had draped over a chair. Swirling it around himself, he started for the door, only to stop shortly before he reached it. Turning and stretching out with the Force, he glanced around the room, as one might to fix a memory in the mind. Briefly his gaze fell on the droid, its glowing photoreceptors whirring to regard him in evident curiosity.

A look of sinister purpose contorted Sidious’s face.

Again, his eyes darted around the room, and the dark side whispered:

Your election assured, the Sun Guards absent, Plagueis unsuspecting and asleep...

And he moved in a blur.

Dante is faster if not as fast due to being fast as lightning in his base form.

In that case he'll probably be able to see the after-effects of Palpatine's blade as it comes at him, in his base form. How amped does Dante get when using Devil Trigger?

It has decimated armies of enemies who were weak in the durability department compared to Dante who brushes off demonic weapons of mass destruction piercing his heart and Dante has resisted mind control, charms also he has resisted his consciousness being manipulated by the demon named Nightmare which was created by Mundus and Dante has high resistance against lightning also he uses the element itself.

Alright, you want an ability that can hurt beings of high durability?

How about Palpatine's Force Storm?

"I have learned that Anger and Will, joined together, are the greatest Power.

I have learned to meditate upon Anger and Will with clarity and precision, and I have learned to open the hidden reservoirs of Dark Side Power.

Anger concentrated by Will in the vital center of the body creates a portal through which vast energies are released—the energies of the dark side of the Force.

Standing watch with the mind, in my meditation of Anger, I have slain my enemies from great distances, through the dark side Power that permeates the galaxy. I have created lightning, and unleashed its destructive fire.

Using this knowledge, I can unleash the dark side energies that are all around us, even to shatter the fabric of space itself. In this way, I have created storms.

Through a simple act of Will, I can generate Force Storms, energy storms that are vastly destructive and virtually unstoppable. Although triggering such storms requires merely thought and inclination, I admit I am not yet able to completely control the phenomenon. Among my goals is to perfect this control."

--Taken from Jedi vs Sith: The Essential Guide to the Force

This is perhaps the single most destructive Force power known. This power allows the Jedi to twist the space-time continuum to create vast storms of force. The power also allows limited control of these storms. Capable of creating annihilating vortices, the storms can swallow whole fleets of spaceships or tear the surfaces off worlds.

--Taken from Dark Empire Sourcebook and Tales of the Jedi Companion

Not only could Palpatine's Force Storm rip Dante apart, just as it does entire fleets and the fabric of space and time, but it could teleport him away entirely:

No Caption Provided

Palpatine has complete control over these Storms:

Vast energy storms that connect wildly disparate spots across the galaxy, hyperspace wormholes are unpredictable and devastating. It was to the Rebel Alliance's detriment that Emperor Palpatine was able to not only control these storms, but to create them.

"The Force Storm is truly an awe-inspiring demonstration of pure natural energy. After using the Force to open a hyperspace wormhole, tremendous shockwaves will ripple through the fabric of space. Due to the Force Storm's potential for abuse, the Council has recently classified it as a dark side power."

"The Reborn Emperor used this at Da Soocha. It has the power to kill worlds."

—Luke

--Taken from The Jedi Path: A Manual for Students of the Force

Palpatine's will is also considerable. The Force Storm ability is based around willpower and Palpatine can survive as a spirit, with nothing but his own willpower:

Palpatine's body was destroyed. Separated from his clones, Palpatine was forced to survive in the maddening, bodiless existence of the void. Through sheer will he retained his identity, crossing the gulf of space to again take up residence in his clone body.

--Taken from The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia

Palpatine's TP can effect billions at time, what feats does Nightmare have to put him on that level?

Palpatine could easily dodge or redirect any attack thrown back at him using Force Deflection, such as Lightning, just as Dooku (who's far inferior to Palpatine):

Go to about 3:20 to see what I'm talking about.

Loading Video...

Here is evidence Palpatine can use it:

Maul snarled as he jumped to his feet and swiped at the air with both hands. Dozens of rocks launched up from around Maul and raced toward Sidious. Sidious moved his other hand out from behind his back and flexed his fingers. The approaching rocks rebounded as if they had struck an invisible shield. Some of the rebounding rocks fell near Maul's feet. Surprised, he stumbled back. He wasn't sure what had just happened.

-Taken from Darth Maul: Shadow Hunter

Furthermore, I don't see why Palpatine can't simply blitz him before he activates it or just use one of his abilities that bypasses the shield, such as Force Crush or Force Choke.

And I highly doubt Dante's Doppelganger is going to fool Palpatine, given his Force enhanced senses that are practically made for detecting that sort of thing:

The hood of his stylish robe raised against a chill wind, Palpatine hurried through the streets of Theed. The sudden turn in the weather abetted his desire to avoid making eye contact with strangers or, worse, encountering anyone he knew. As he grew stronger in the dark side, the profane world became a stranger and stranger place, swept by currents he’d had no previous awareness of and populated by vaguely outlined life-forms he saw as magnitudes of the Force.

--Taken from Darth Plagueis

Just arrived on the Hunters’ Moon, Sidious studied Plagueis as the Sith Lord and his droid, 11-4D, viewed a holorecording of a black-robed Zabrak assassin making short work of combat automata in his home on Coruscant, some hovering, some advancing on two legs, others on treads, and all firing blasters.

Twenty years had added a slight stoop to the Muun’s posture and veins that stood out under his thinning white skin. He wore a dark green utility suit that hugged his delicate frame, a green cloak that fell from his bony shoulders to the fort’s stone floor, and a headpiece that hewed to his large cranium. A triangular breath mask covered his ruined, prognathus lower jaw, his mouth, part of his long neck, and what remained of the craggy nose he’d had before the surprise attack in the Fobosi. A device of his own invention, the alloy mask featured two vertical slits and a pair of thin, stiff conduits that linked it to a transpirator affixed to his upper chest, beneath an armored torso harness. He had learned to ingest and imbibe through feeding tubes, and through his nose.

Seen through the Force, he was a nuclear oval of mottled light, a rotating orb of terrifying energy. If the Maladian attack had weakened him physically, it had also helped to shape his etheric body into a vessel sufficiently strong to contain the full power of the dark side.

--Taken from Darth Plagueis

Palpatine also has a powerful defense for himself, known as Force Maelstrom:

"Already, I have perfected the Force maelstrom, which creates an invulnerable energy sphere to block incoming attacks while bombarding enemies with debris and electrifying them with bolts of lightning."

--Taken from Book of Sith: Secrets from the Dark Side

I don't see how Dante's Royal Guard will protect him from the Force Storm, given the sheer size and destructive magnitude and the fact it'll simply swallow him whole.

It's also worth noting Soresu and Shii-Cho, two of the styles Palpatine has mastered, are very effective at fighting multiple opponents, too.

@comicstooge:

I understand your point dude, it's cool.

Though, I gotta ask why he would hold back when dodging something?

It was more so a general statement within this match he is bloodlusted which ultimately means his speed would increase drastically and he would want to kill Palpatine on the spot showing him no mercy due to the fact that DMC 2 Dante is extremely serious and no nonsense in terms of attitude.

However, Palpatine's precognitive, empathic and mind reading abilities will counter Dante's teleportation.

Dante also has precognitive abilities and he has a powerful atmospheric sense which means he would be able to sense Palpatine`s movements as well as counter them, Dante can teleport instantly at any given point and he could use Doppleganger to help push this ability forward also he can fly on top of that.

Dante's precognition, while impressive, isn't up to scratch with Palpatine's. Not only can he sense his opponents moves in the short term, but in the long term too.

That is an awesome point but Dante should be able to predict his movements and Dante is very unpredictable due to his instantaneous battle style also he is no human or Jedi he`s a supernatural being to being able to read his mind when psychic blocks could be active would pose as a challenge even to that of Palpatine.

And he can even use the Force to guide himself and find an opportunity to kill Dante:

Dante would teleport and he could sense Palpatine from far away distances due to his acute supernatural sense.

In that case he'll probably be able to see the after-effects of Palpatine's blade as it comes at him, in his base form. How amped does Dante get when using Devil Trigger?

Good question. Usually it would amp by double or triple due to the amount of damage can be done and the regeneration but it would make Dante significantly faster and more powerful, also in his Devil Trigger form his senses increase as well as shown within the DMC manga and a good example would also be when Dante took on Abigail a demon who rivaled the demon king Mundus of the Underworld.

Loading Video...

As you can see at point 1:36 - 2:08, Dante activates his Devil Trigger in a quick instant of a second and destroys Abigail easily without no trouble reverting the demon Sid back to his normal form the one who was seeking after the power itself.

Loading Video...

As you can see during this battle,Dante activated his Sparda DT through the Sword of Sparda the awakened form of Force Edge he is able to tank Mundus` attacks and do battle with him weakening him but Dante during DMC 2 at his oldest in human form would be more than 8x more powerful than this transformation.

Not only could Palpatine's Force Storm rip Dante apart, just as it does entire fleets and the fabric of space and time, but it could teleport him away entirely:

That wouldn`t work on Dante considering he himself can teleport, fly and he could strike down the Force Storm with Yamato which cuts through dimensions and it has enough power to separate realms as well as seal portals it would be able to cut down the Force Storm.

Yamato

Dante now carrying Yamato which he gave to Nero by the end of DMC 2 although I still believe it to be his weapon and DMC 2 is after DMC 4 in the linear story-line so there is a good chance he could of reclaimed it after something happened to Nero, Lady and Trish which triggered his new personality. Yamato was a dimensional weapon that was used to separate the Demon World from the Human World as it sealed dimensional hell portals and could destroy them it was the only power that could revive them as well. The sword has the ability to cut through anything even at minimal is powerful enough to cut through dimensions and space.

As shown within the manga one of the Seven Sins places Vergil under an illusion and Vergil with Yamato is able to cut through that illusion with ease while dismembering the caster.

This sword was also forged by Sparda himself as was Rebellion proving how the stories of Sparda`s immense power are indeed true.

The sword is sharp enough to point to being powerful enough to being to able pierce through Nero`s invulnerable and heavily durable Devil Bringer Arm.

Palpatine's will is also considerable. The Force Storm ability is based around willpower and Palpatine can survive as a spirit, with nothing but his own willpower:

Dante could destroy his spirit with his weaponry which targets and kills spirits, incorporeal and intangible beings also Dante has a strong will as well he would be able to pull through against these assaults.

Palpatine's TP can effect billions at time, what feats does Nightmare have to put him on that level?

That is very impressive but it being able to affect billions doesn`t mean it would be able to affect a strong mind and will like Dante due to the fact that he is not a normal human or Jedi, Nightmare was specifically designed by Mundus to reach into Dante`s subconscious and manipulate him with trauma embodied spirits, also it absorbed Dante`s demonic energy and used it against him yet Dante was able to defeat it with ease.

Now as explained earlier the demon Nightmare, what makes this demon very deadly is the fact that it was created by Mundus himself the same godlike demon who can communicate spiritually, on another plane and in some ways telepathically, and this Nightmare demon was specifically made for Dante in particular. Dante doesn`t need oxygen.

Loading Video...

2:45 and as you continue you notice Dante doesn`t need anything gizmo or mechanism to breathe under water he doesn`t even have a duration bar.

If Palpatine manages to use Force Crush it wouldn`t be able to K.O, stun, kill or even paralyze Dante due to the fact that his Devil Trigger negates effects like that and it enhances his durability also even if it managed to bypass it somehow, Dante`s Majin Form would activate immediately due to him being in critical condition although I doubt it would get to that point.

Majin Form is a form that Dante achieved through his own power not the Sword of Sparda and it is even said that Sparda`s power grew too great which is why he sealed himself, Sparda took down Mundus and his armies with ease also. Dante being considered as a successor to his power is a huge accomplishment within of itself now having his power which he used against Mundus and his own Majin Form would definitely = planet buster++. The Majin Form however is activated when Dante is at his lowest and nearing to critical health which is why it is also called the Desperate Devil Trigger, Dante is almost an invincible force and can cheat or escape Death with no fear at all either.

It's also worth noting Soresu and Shii-Cho, two of the styles Palpatine has mastered, are very effective at fighting multiple opponents, too.

That is impressive but Dante has fought multiple opponents at one given time before as well and Palpatine has fought nothing as powerful and as versatile as Dante before.

Fair enough. Though, because of the fact that Dante's speed feats aren't as clear, while Palpatine's are, means we can better assess his speed. Palpatine is almost lightspeed with his reflexes, with Dant, it's more difficult to judge.

Dante also has precognitive abilities and he has a powerful atmospheric sense which means he would be able to sense Palpatine`s movements as well as counter them, Dante can teleport instantly at any given point and he could use Doppleganger to help push this ability forward also he can fly on top of that.

While Dante's precognition is impressive, Palpatine's is superior. This is due to the fact that Dante can only anticipate the moves Palpatine is about to perform, while Palpatine can see multiple steps ahead and his telepathy and empathy means that he knows Dante's moves almost before he does.

That is an awesome point but Dante should be able to predict his movements and Dante is very unpredictable due to his instantaneous battle style also he is no human or Jedi he`s a supernatural being to being able to read his mind when psychic blocks could be active would pose as a challenge even to that of Palpatine.

Vaapad and Juyo, two lightsaber combat styles used by Mace Windu and Darth Maul (possibly Savage Oppress too), are known for their unpredictable nature, Palpatine didn't have much trouble at all. In fact, he knew every move Maul and Savage were going to make, before they did:

But strong as he had become, Maul found himself in awe of Sidious. The Sith Lord was astonishingly fast and efficient, and the Force flowed through him effortlessly. His sabers stabbed and slashed through the smallest hole in an opponent’s guard, his movements never carried him a millimeter out of position, and he could sense every attack Maul and Savage made before it developed.

--Taken from Darth Maul: Shadow Conspiracy

I know I already used this, but I've used it again to illustrate my point.

And the video the showed me, Dante's opponent didn't seem to have too much trouble actually entering his mind, it was the mental domination that was the hard bit.

Palpatine can mentally dominate Jedi, who have resistance to telepathy naturally:

While on a different planet, Palpatine could effortlessly mentally assault Darth Vader, breaking through his considerable telepathic defenses and iron will:

Boarding his shuttle, he ordered the pilot to lift off.

A pity, my son, he thought. You could have joined me and together...we could have destroyed the Emperor and ruled the galaxy in his place.

As he stared at the severed appendage in his hands, a sudden flash of insight struck the Dark Lord, realization dawning like the sunrise of Bespin.

Perhaps, if you will not be turned, little Jedi, a suitable substitute may be arranged.

Suddenly, Vader was struck to his knees by the horribly powerful voice that rolled like fiery thunder through his brain. The pilots struggled vainly to ignore the Dark Lord's...discomfort.

"Yes, my servant," the voice boomed in his mind, dripping raw evil. "Come to Mount Tantiss, immediately. I shall meet you there, and we will discuss my new trophy."

"Yes...my Master," Vader gasped, feeling an icy stab of dread in his soul, as the Emperor's mocking chuckle still echoed in his mind. His Master had detected his rebellious thoughts. This discussion would be most unpleasant. Most unpleasant indeed.

--Taken from The Thrawn Trilogy Sourcebook: Clone B-2332-54

Dante would teleport and he could sense Palpatine from far away distances due to his acute supernatural sense.

Palpatine's senses could easily anticipate such an action (not to mention he could read Dante's mind) and engage in a plan to make it seem though Dante has him defeated, then strike when he is unprepared. He is a master strategist, after all:

Where Darth Sidious was a strategist, his fearsome apprentice Darth Maul was a blazing lightsaber aimed directly at the heart of the Jedi Order.

--Taken from The Dark Side Sourcebook

Good question. Usually it would amp by double or triple due to the amount of damage can be done and the regeneration but it would make Dante significantly faster and more powerful, also in his Devil Trigger form his senses increase as well as shown within the DMC manga and a good example would also be when Dante took on Abigail a demon who rivaled the demon king Mundus of the Underworld.

Cool. While that help close the gap between them speed wise, it still wouldn't be enough to make as fast as Palpatine, who in his older, slower body was too fast to be seen by Anakin. (As I've previously stated, but the feat is still relevant).

That wouldn`t work on Dante considering he himself can teleport, fly and he could strike down the Force Storm with Yamato which cuts through dimensions and it has enough power to separate realms as well as seal portals it would be able to cut down the Force Storm.

Unless he can teleport to the other side of the planet, I don't see him being able to teleport (or fly for that matter) away.

Yamato can cut and seal magical portals, not Hyperspace wormholes. Attempting to slice through a Force Storm is like trying to stab into an already opened puncture, you wouldn't be doing anything. It's not a tangible thing you can cut.

Not to mention he'd already be torn apart the moment he tries swinging the sword, given the fact that the effects of the Storm are practically instantaneous.

Dante could destroy his spirit with his weaponry which targets and kills spirits, incorporeal and intangible beings also Dante has a strong will as well he would be able to pull through against these assaults.

Palpatine's Essence Transfer doesn't require him to physically will himself into a being, he does the moment his body is destroyed. He won't wait around. And I'm not sure if cutting his spirit will accomplish anything, given the fact the only way to banish Sidious's spirit to Chaos is to die with him, as Brand did.

I'd also like to point out if Dante manages to kill Palpatine, he'll release a powerful burst of energy called the Dark Side Burst:

At that instant, Vader sprang up and grabbed the Emperor from behind, pinning Palpatine's upper arms to his torso. Weaker than he'd ever been, Vader had lain still these last few minutes, focusing his very fiber of being on this one, concentrated act—the only action possible; his last, if he failed. Ignoring pain, ignoring his shame and his weakness, ignoring the bone-crushing noise in his head, he focused solely and sightlessly on his will—his will to defeat the evil embodied in the Emperor.

Palpatine struggled in the grip of Vader's unfeeling embrace, his hands still shooting bolts of malign energy out of in all directions. In his wild flailing, the lightning ripped across the room, tearing into Vader. The Dark Lord fell again, electric currents crackling down his helmet, over his cape, into his heart. Vader stumbled with his load to the middle of the bridge over the black chasm leading to the power core. He held the wailing despot high over his head, and with a final spasm of strength, hurled him into the abyss.

Palpatine's body, still spewing bolts of light, spun out of control, into the void, bouncing back and forth off the sides of the shaft as it fell. It disappeared at last; but then, a few seconds later, a distant explosion could be heard, far down at the core. A rush of air billowed out of the shaft, into the throne room. The wind whipped at Lord Vader's cape, as he staggered and collapsed toward the hole, trying to follow his master to the end. Luke crawled to his father's side, though, and pulled the Dark Lord away from the edge of the chasm, to safety.

--Taken from Return of the Jedi

But Luke surprised Palpatine by surrendering, refusing to continue the fight that would have resulted in his father's death and made him the Emperor's new Sith Apprentice. A livid Palpatine then used his own dark powers to attack, searing Luke with blasts of blue lightning. As he watched the agony of his son and the Emperor's glee, Vader finally broke the hold of evil that had suffocated him for so long. Vader grabbed the energy-seething Palpatine and hurled him into the Death Star reactor shaft, where the evil leader was disintegrated. The shock waves of dark power mortally wounded Vader. Luke Skywalker could do nothing for his dying father, the terrible enemy who had saved him in the end.

--Taken from The New Essential Chronology

It has range enough to reach up from the core of the shaft of the Death Star up and finish off Anakin Skywalker, so it should provide distraction enough for Palpatine's Essence to get to Dante.

Though, I doubt Dante will even manage to kill Palpatine.

Also, does Dante have an answer for Palpatine's Drain ability? He can sap the life energy from 20 billion people from across Byss:

No Caption Provided

"The galaxy is choked with beings. Billions die every instant. It is better to make use of this resource. At my retreat on Byss, the life force of its colonists supplied an energy pool to sustain my dark side experiments."

--Taken from Book of Sith: Secrets of the Dark Side

Imperial ships ferried millions of immigrants to the planet Byss, where the Emperor fed off their life energies through the dark side.

--Taken from The New Essential Guide to Characters

After choosing Byss as his resort world, Palpatine lured eager nobles to the planet—then used his dark powers to enslave its people, channeling their life energies for use in his own vile experiments within the fell Imperial Citadel.

--Taken from The Essential Atlas

Years ago, Emperor Palpatine chose Byss as his private retreat, and Imperial architects and engineers were commissioned to build him an opulent palace. Several million humans were allowed to emigrate to the world, where the Emperor and his adepts used the dark side to feed off their life energies. The planet's population eventually reached almost 20 billion, and all outgoing communications were censored by security agents.

Dante could redirect it back many more times with Royal Guard and the more Palpatine redirects it the more Dante would be healed due to Royal Release also Dante could convert the energy into demonic energy gaining more control over the flow of the attack.

Palpatine doesn't need to redirect it back at Dante, he can redirect it harmlessly away to another direction. And Palpatine similarly can drain energy and add it onto his own.

I don`t see Palpatine being able to blitz someone who is far faster than lightning in his base form also Dante could use Doppleganger to buy himself sometime and even if Palpatine managed to use Force Choke it wouldn`t matter considering the fact that Dante doesn`t even need oxygen to breathe, and his body doesn`t function like a human`s he could tolerate things that any human or even superhuman can`t as shown here.

Anakin was far faster then lightning, Palpatine would've been able to blitz him with hilarious ease, as Anakin couldn't even see him. And similarly, Mace Windu couldn't see Palpatine either, prior to being amped by Vaapad. And Sidious fought with Yoda at such speeds their fight was described a tornado, for what it's worth:

Before Mace realizes what has happened, Kolar, Tiin, and Fisto have fallen to Sidious's blade.

--Taken from The Complete Visual Dictionary

In that lightning-speared tornado of feet and fists and blades and bashing machines, his vision finally pierced the darkness that had clouded the Force.

--Taken from Revenge of the Sith

Devil Trigger may even the odds a little, but not enough to make Dante's speed above Palpatine's. He'll have to rely on his precognition to carry him through, yet Palpatine's is superior.

Majin Form is a form that Dante achieved through his own power not the Sword of Sparda and it is even said that Sparda`s power grew too great which is why he sealed himself, Sparda took down Mundus and his armies with ease also. The Majin Form however is activated when Dante is at his lowest and nearing to critical health which is why it is also called the Desperate Devil Trigger, Dante is almost an invincible force and can cheat or escape Death with no fear at all either.

Might I inquire how Dante's Majin Form is planet buster++? Has it actually busted planets?

What's to stop Palpatine from draining Dante's life energy at this point and how will be survive the Force Storm?

Good point, but they could still serve a purpose such as guarding against Palpatine and distracting him, Dante could even call up more than one Doppelganger and have them transform into his DT form on top of that they are controlled by Dante`s strong will.

Palpatine could telepathically assault Dante, just as he did the iron willed Darth Vader and disrupt his will or use the Force Fear ability:

But the Force, of course, was quite real—and the black tentacles of its dark side had hardened Palpatine and his new pupil, Darth Vader, into evil incarnate. They shared its horrible energies, and used them to fill the minds of their subservient military minions with fear.

--Taken from the Technical Journal of the Imperial Forces

Not to mention still, Dante has no real defense against Force Storm.

The lightning countering measure shouldn`t be a problem for Dante due to the fact that Dante has a strong defense and resistance against lightning also Dante could always cut through the shield or barrier with Yamato.

Force Lightning isn't normal lightning. And if Dante approached the barrier, he's going to get telekinetically thrown aside and not even have the opportunity to cut it.

Dante wouldn`t need to use Royal Guard, he could use Yamato to combat the Force Storm and he could always teleport and could always fly at super-fast speeds.

My previous post already addressed this. You can't cut something that is essentially already a hole. And even if he could, he'd be obliterated before he could try, given the effects of the Storm are pretty much instantaneous.

That is impressive but Dante has fought multiple opponents at one given time before as well and Palpatine has fought nothing as powerful and as versatile as Dante before.

Palpatine has the tools in his arsenal to defeat Dante, as I am attempting to prove.

Also, when do we intend to start the voting process?

Also, I'll be going away until Friday, so I won't respond until that time. Or we could open up voting.

It was more so a general statement within this match he is bloodlusted which ultimately means his speed would increase drastically and he would want to kill Palpatine on the spot showing him no mercy due to the fact that DMC 2 Dante is extremely serious and no nonsense in terms of attitude.

Fair enough. Though, because of the fact that Dante's speed feats aren't as clear, while Palpatine's are, means we can better assess his speed. Palpatine is almost lightspeed with his reflexes, with Dant, it's more difficult to judge.

Not true considering the fact that they are pretty much linear as shown with his increase with Alastor to the demon Blitz he moves at relativistic - FTL speeds my point was that lowest to gauge would be near lightning speed and reflexes.

That is a sound and good point however it wouldn`t gurantee him an ambush type tactic over Dante and neither would it gurantee him the win either considering Dante has defeated opponents who were steps ahead of him.

It entered his mind and transported him to another dimension but it wasn`t able to overcome his will which is the important part, Palpatine wouldn`t be able to overcome his will or Devil Trigger and this demon used his own power against him.

Palpatine can mentally dominate Jedi, who have resistance to telepathy naturally:

It doesn`t actually mean it would be able to affect Dante there needs to be background beyond all proof to assert to a confirmation considering it would be stepping into the grounds of No Limits Fallacies and Dante could still have physic blocks set in motion even if Palpatine managed to infiltrate his mind I doubt he would be able to go any further.

That is impressive but Dante`s mind is like no others its a supernaturally composed mind and he has resisted mind control, charms, hypnosis and physic manipulation which utilize magic and otherworldly mechanisms which shows how strong willed Dante is.

Dante wouldn`t let Palpatine live he would go straight for the kill he went straight for the kill against Sanctus during DMC 4 and Sid, I doubt he would let someone like Palpatine live also Dante could be warned by his precognition also Dante could instantly summon Doppelganger.

Actually would considering Dante moves faster than lightning in his base form or human body and it would skyrocket by a great gap while he is in his Devil Trigger form, also Dante can teleport on top of all that, Palpatine wouldn`t know what to expect even if he did read his mind due to the fact that Dante is very unpredictable and I`m pretty sure Dante by some point would figure out Palpatine`s mind reading abilities.

I`m pretty sure he could and he could open portals with Yamato to escape from the incoming destruction.

Yamato can cut through anything as confirmed in the in game descriptions, it has shown to being able to cut through reality, illusions, invulnerability, intangible forms and it holds the power to lock things as well it shouldn`t be a problem considering it could provide a rapid flurry of strikes in mere seconds which Dante could easily do.

Dante could always banish his spirit with Jackpot which manged to work on demon kings such as The Despair Embodied, Mundus, Abigail and Arkham, it obliterates a being completely or banished them to another realm or reduces their power also Dante would be declared the winner due to being able to destroy Palpatine`s physical form and main body which is one of the requirements to win the fight in the long run, term and ultimately.

None of that would even be able to phase Dante too much, he has taken multiple meteorites head on and has been barely scratched this happened during DMC 1 also his durability increase massively since then and he could always reflect or redirect the attack with Royal Guard.

Though, I doubt Dante will even manage to kill Palpatine.

Dante has many ways in which he could kill Palpatine and he could even banish him with his weapons.

--Taken from The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia

Dante has negated and resisted life force draining from Agnus, Soul Eaters and ancient demonic artifacts life force draining wouldn`t work too well on him also with Royal Release, I`m pretty sure he would be healed from a lot of Palpatine`s attacks.

But then the attack itself wouldn`t serve its purpose also it would benefit Dante more because he would heal at a quicker rate and he could use the mechanism to create a massive burst of energy.

Dante is far faster than lightning in his human form in his Devil Trigger form he should be able to reach FTL speeds and he battled Vergil who was hypersonic+ during his younger years also he blitzed a thousand year old demon who has heightened as well as inhumanly senses on top of that he can teleport.

Good point but Dante`s Devil Trigger doesn`t only increase his speed but it also increases his reflexes, agility, stamina and every aspect which includes durability as well as senses.

Might I inquire how Dante's Majin Form is planet buster++? Has it actually busted planets?

It hasn`t busted planets but logically it should produce enough power to do so considering the level of power Mundus had but its not Majin Form its Sparda Form and Majin Form together, Majin Form is a form Dante acquired or tapped into on his own and he unlocked this form on his own as well, the Sparda DT is harnessed and drawn out from the Sword of Sparda having both would make Dante brimming with raw demonic energy that would far surpass Mundus and Abigail`s demonic raw output that reached mountain and city level at lowest. But if it weren`t to be a planet buster it would be a planet wrecker in terms of damage.

What's to stop Palpatine from draining Dante's life energy at this point and how will be survive the Force Storm?

Dante`s has extreme high resistance in his base form and immunity in his Devil Trigger form it wouldn`t work, Dante could open up a portal with Yamato and escape via the portal.

Dante`s will is too great and there`s no proof he would be able to manipulate his will so swiftly like he did to Darth Vader, Dante could even summon up a couple of Doppelgangers to help combat and keep Palpatine occupied.

Actually he does, he has Yamato and teleportation also I doubt Dante would give Palpatine the chance to even conjure up one during a highly intense fight that tests speeds and wills.

Dante has resisted all types of lightning that are far more powerful he has resisted Alastor`s supernatural lightning, Blitz`s lightning and Nevan`s lightning also Dante uses telekinesis as well so I don`t see that happening and it wouldn`t even affect him or be able to K.O him at least, even if it managed to hit or work against him regardless. Also Yamato can cut through anything which includes, dimensions, space and realms so I don`t see how the barrier regardless of its classification would prove to be something different or impossible.

Not true, Yamato can cut through anything and has cut things that are of another realm also Dante could open up portals or dimensional rifts with Yamato, and use the portals to escape or just teleport somewhere else away from the Force Storm, Palpatine would probably be dead also before this ditch effort or plan could take off and Dante use his atmospheric sense to predict Palpatine`s movements or intentions due to his negative energy he would be more relentless than ever a bloodlusted Dante would kill him in the most horrible way possible, probably head removal and then disgrace in the form of mockery through Ebony & Ivory, a form of Envy & Irony.

That is impressive but Dante has fought multiple opponents at one given time before as well and Palpatine has fought nothing as powerful and as versatile as Dante before.

Palpatine has the tools in his arsenal to defeat Dante, as I am attempting to prove.

Not really, all of his tools have been overcome by Dante during his career or confronted before in a different form the only thing being the Force Storm everything else is not too unfamiliar or threateningly new, and Dante has battled far more powerful opponents in his lifetime, the reason why Palpatine`s tools seem to be devastatingly powerful is because of the enemies he has went up against he has never ever battled anyone of Dante`s level or caliber before. Speaking of tools, Dante also has Pandora`s Omen which would could be a tool just like the Force Storm but more effectively provable to being able to end the match due to the fact that it vanquishes everything in its way and Dante can activate it instantly, Palpatine wouldn`t have a counter against even if he managed to read Dante`s mind which Dante could still resist and prevent in his DT forms.

Pandora

Now this is a deadly and underrated weapon that Dante carries it officially has six hundred and sixty-six weapons although seven are revealed in game and the most ultimate revealed is Pandora`s Omen which is the supernatural light that obliterates all in its path and it had no effect on Dante whatsoever in a way I consider it to be Dante`s version of Penance Stare.

I don`t mind starting it now but its more so up to you when you believe the time to be appropriate.

Also, I'll be going away until Friday, so I won't respond until that time. Or we could open up voting.

Not true considering the fact that they are pretty much linear as shown with his increase with Alastor to the demon Blitz he moves at relativistic - FTL speeds my point was that lowest to gauge would be near lightning speed and reflexes.

Lightning travels 3,700 miles per second within a vacuum, light itself travels 186,000 miles per second in a vacuum.

Even if Dante's speed increased ten fold he'd still be a lot slower then Palpatine, who's speed is near relativistic.

And honestly, judging by this cut-scene, Dante doesn't seem to be a whole lot faster then lightning by any margin:

Loading Video...

That is a sound and good point however it wouldn`t gurantee him an ambush type tactic over Dante and neither would it gurantee him the win either considering Dante has defeated opponents who were steps ahead of him.

Thanks, man. Anyway, it might not 100% grantee Palpatine's victory solely off his superior precognitive abilities, but it's a considerable advantage.

I'd also like to point out Palpatine can use the Alter Environment technique to muck about with the environment and atmosphere. Potentially rendering Dante's atmospheric precognition moot:

Now Sidious gave full vent to his ire. Crashing through the doors, he landed in the center of a table covered with plates of grains and grassy plans and surrounded by a herd of grazing Gran, whose boisterous laughs froze in their throats. From the head of the table, Pax Teem gawked at him as if he might be a creature escaped from his most horrifying nightmare. And yet he wouldn't be the first to taste Plagueis's blade but the last; once he had been forced to watch the rest of his party butchered, from hooves to eyestalks; the painted ceiling brought down by Sidious's Force pull; the flames of a gentle gas blaze in the room's fireplace incited to a blistering inferno that Sidious tugged behind him as he soared from the table to the floor and closed on his final victim.
In desperate flight from the Sith and the spreading flames, Pax Teem had backed himself to a tall window framed by floor-to-ceiling curtains. Entreaties of whatever sort tried to thrust themselves through his stricken voice box and past his square teeth, but none succeeded.
Deactivating the lightsaber, Sidious beckoned the flames with his fingers, encouraging them to leap from the table to the curtains. A bleating scream finally emerged from Teem's narrow muzzle of a mouth as the blazing fabric collapsed around him, and Sidious watched him roast to death.

--Taken from Darth Plagueis

"Not fast enough," Sidious said as a stone smashed into Maul's lower back.
Maul crouched and grabbed the nearest rock. He no sooner lifted it from the ground than he felt it burning into his hand. He yelped as he reflexively opened his fingers and let the rock fall. How could the rock have generated such intense heat? He suspected it was his Master's trickery.
"Oh, come now," Sidious said impatiently. "Almost any humanoid with fingers can do
that."

--Taken from The Wrath of Darth Maul

"Anger concentrated by Will in the vital center of the body creates a portal through which vast energies are released—the energies of the Dark Side of the Force. Standing watch with the mind, in my meditation of Anger, I have slain my enemies from great distances, through the Dark Side Power that permeates the Galaxy. I have created lightning, and unleashed its destructive fire."

--Taken from Dark Empire Sourcebook

I'm going to reply to these 3 arguments simultaneously, considering they all tie into eachother as a whole.

"It entered his mind and transported him to another dimension but it wasn`t able to overcome his will which is the important part, Palpatine wouldn`t be able to overcome his will or Devil Trigger and this demon used his own power against him.

That is impressive but Dante`s mind is like no others its a supernaturally composed mind and he has resisted mind control, charms, hypnosis and physic manipulation which utilize magic and otherworldly mechanisms which shows how strong willed Dante is."

Palpatine's telepathy can subtly effect whoever his target is, making them feel whatever he wants them to, such as fear, uneasiness, doubt, lust for power etc. He could easily use these and prey on all of Dante's emotional weaknesses to break down Dante's will, considering Palpatine is very good at doing so:

During the Clone Wars, Palpatine conducted Sith rituals on Coruscant that radiated unnerving ripples in the Force, which caused anxiety among most Jedi throughout the galaxy, but also served to increase Anakin Skywalker's hunger for power.

--Taken from The Ultimate Visual Guide

He broke Luke's will, as he needed his sister's help to escape Palpatine's mental domination:

Palpatine: Curse you, Jedi! No. A curse is not necessary. I have something better for you. Skywalker! I have broken you. Now, prove yourself worthy of serving me. (Sound of lightsaber activating.)

Luke:Yes, my master.

Palpatine: Bring your sister over to the dark side. You have the power.

Leia: (Sounds of waving lightsabers.) I don't know what he's done to you, Luke, but this time we're really leaving.

Luke: Leia, put the lightsaber away. I don't want to hurt you.

Leia: The last thing I'd do is hurt you, Luke. What's happened to you is not final.

Palpatine: (Palpatine laughs.) He cannot hear you, child. To him, you are a ghost. The faint memory of a former life.

Leia: Luke...listen. (Sound of lightsaber deactivating.) Luke. Oh, what have you done? What's behind his vacant stare?

Palpatine: Why, nothing, my child. Nothing. (Sound of the Force being used. Sound of speech echoing within Luke's mind.)

Luke: Nothing.

Palpatine: You are nothing.

Luke: Where am I?

Palpatine: Alone.

Luke: No. Help me.

Palpatine: There is no one. There is only the dark side.

Luke: I am a Jedi. (Luke screams.)

Palpatine: You are not a Jedi. You are nothing. You have no name.

Luke: My name is Skywalker. (Luke screams.)

Palpatine: You...have...no...name!

Luke: I...

Palpatine: Accept the dark side. You have no name.

Luke: I have no name.

Palpatine: You serve the dark side.

Luke: I serve...

Palpatine: Listen to the voices.

Luke: The voices...

Palpatine: Of the dark side.

Luke: Yes.

Palpatine: The one law is fear. The one fear is power. The one power is hate.

Luke: Hate.

Leia: Luke.

Palpatine: Hate.

Leia: Luke, clear your mind.

Luke: Leia?

Palpatine: The one law is fear. The one fear is power!

Leia: Luke, I'm your sister. I need you.

Luke: My sister.

Palpatine: You are alone.

Leia: Luke, listen to my voice. My child...will be a very great Jedi, because you will train him. You will train all my children in the ways of the Force.

Palpatine: Do not listen!

Luke: The Force... Leia... The Force... I am not alone. I am never alone!

(Sound of Force fades. Sound of voices returning to normal audibility.)

Palpatine: No! This can't be. No one returns from the dark side. You're mine!

Luke: Leia, help me. I've gone too far. I've found knowledge, all the dark things Father knew so well. The ability to control others, to destroy others if he chose, if I chose. Ben warned me; Yoda warned me. But I had to do it, Leia! I had to know what happened to our father! I had to know why he chose the dark side.

Leia: And now you know what happened to our father. It's time to come home, Luke.

Palpatine: Do not listen to her. Listen to the voice of the dark side. Your power is immense.

Luke: No. The powers of control and destruction weren't the only things I found in the dark side, Emperor. I also found great isolation and sadness. I found fear. These are the feelings my father felt. The feelings you feel, in your moments of darkest triumph.

Palpatine: Nonsense! Curse you Skywalkers, both of you! I'll tell you the truth about your father. (Sound of the Force being used. Luke screams. Sound of Force fades.)

Palpatine: The great Darth Vader was a sick man in an iron mask! Yes, that mask inspired terror throughout the galaxy, but the feeble heart within was forever possessed by the impotent side of the Force. You can be far stronger than he was. Dark Jedi, are you going to let your weak sister get the better of you? Get up! I can give you the power to break her. You will kill your sister, if I demand it!

Luke: No! I made a mistake. I thought I had to save the galaxy alone, all by myself. But the way of the Jedi is not a solitary path.

Leia: (Leia gasps.) The Holocron! Luke, the Holocron told me to join with my brother!

Luke: Yes. The Force binds us. Brings us together. Many people are fighting this war together. Our ally is the Force. Through the strength of the Force, your shroud of evil has been lifted from my mind!

"My monstrous chrysalides, with their magnificent metal-piercing fangs, guard the ramparts of my citadel. My mute Imperial sentinels stand by my throne, their annihilated minds and enslaved wills clear evidence the dark side can manipulate clones for any imaginative purpose. Although alchemy can create perfect beings, I have designed a weakness into all of these creations. The flaws are minute and known only to me. It would not do for any creature to be stronger than its creator."

--Taken from Book of Sith: Secrets from the Dark Side

Basically, if there aren't any negative feelings for Palpatine to exploit, he'll create some and use them to break Dante's will. And anyway, it's not as if Palpatine has to force his way into Dante's mind, he'd been subtly effecting minds for years without the need for ramming through physic barriers.

Dante wouldn`t let Palpatine live he would go straight for the kill he went straight for the kill against Sanctus during DMC 4 and Sid, I doubt he would let someone like Palpatine live also Dante could be warned by his precognition also Dante could instantly summon Doppelganger.

Palpatine won't have any reserves against going straight into the kill against Dante either. Palpatine's Alter Environment technique could mess around with Dante's precognition, given the fact that practitioners can't effect things like the atmosphere.

And furthermore, doesn't creating a Doppleganger negate Dante's healing and enhanced skills, effectively making him more vulnerable?

I'd also like to point out that the fact that the Doppleganger is created via shadows, right? Well, that may actually prove to aid Sidious, given the fact that shadows give him greater perception:

The Coruscant nightfall was spreading through the galaxy. The darkness in the Force was no hindrance to the shadow in the Chancellor's office; it was the darkness. Wherever darkness dwelled, the shadow could send perception. In the night, the shadow felt the boy's anguish, and it was good. The shadow felt the grim determination of four Jedi Masters approaching by air. This, too, was good.

--Taken from Revenge of the Sith

This could serve to give Palpatine eyes in the back of his head or allow him to see from multiple angles at once, if you will. On top of having the ability to preceive Dante's thoughts and emotions, notice even the slightest detail with his force-increased vision powers and being able to literally see the future, this is a potent combo indeed.

A Doppleganger may only serve to do Dante more harm than good.

And, even if not, the Doppleganger won't last forever, correct? It drains Dante's DT energy the longer he uses it.

Palpatine needs only to survive long enough to outlast the Doppleganger, something he could do, given his very high stamina, precognition and wide array of both lightsaber skills and Force abilities.

Possibly at some point, but Dante still needs to think "I need to teleport to this position" and the like, something Palpatine would have to difficultly discerning from Dante's mind. The whole "unpredictability" aspect of Dante is ground we've already covered, so there's no point into repeating it.

Dante could destroy his spirit with his weaponry which targets and kills spirits, incorporeal and intangible beings also Dante has a strong will as well he would be able to pull through against these assaults.

Even if he could cut through a Force Storm, how is he supposed to cut something so massive it can lay waste to the surface of entire planets and has instantaneous effects? It'll already be tearing him apart/teleporting him away the moment he attempts to cut it.

Palpatine's spirit can still effect Dante though, the death of his physical body will only slow him down. His spirit can still effect Dante. And the only thing I can find on Dante's "Jackpot" is that it's just a quote. Would you be able to give me more info on it?

A Force Spirit isn't of demonic or magical nature, so the idea that Dante can simply destroy or banish it is questionable in itself and would take us a ridiculously long time to come to a consensus on.

None of that would even be able to phase Dante too much, he has taken multiple meteorites head on and has been barely scratched this happened during DMC 1 also his durability increase massively since then and he could always reflect or redirect the attack with Royal Guard.

Point taken.

However, the strength of Dante's Royal Guard depends on his stamina/energy, correct? Do you really believe, in the event that Dante destroyed Palpatine's physical body that he'd have enough energy/stamina to deflect such an attack?

This is assuming Dante somehow actually defeats Palpatine's physical body, of course. Something I'm obviously trying to prove he cannot do.

Dante has negated and resisted life force draining from Agnus, Soul Eaters and ancient demonic artifacts life force draining wouldn`t work too well on him also with Royal Release, I`m pretty sure he would be healed from a lot of Palpatine`s attacks.

Palpatine, being able to easily become aware of this fact through his mind reading, would simply hit him with an insta-kill attack, such as the Force Storm.

I'd also like to point out that Force Lightning actually drains the target's life force when they are hit with it, so it isn't simple lightning.

Force lightning causes excruciating pain as it weakens an individual's life, and is nearly impossible to deflect.

Dante could redirect it back many more times with Royal Guard and the more Palpatine redirects it the more Dante would be healed due to Royal Release also Dante could convert the energy into demonic energy gaining more control over the flow of the attack.

This was referenced in my above response.

But then the attack itself wouldn`t serve its purpose also it would benefit Dante more because he would heal at a quicker rate and he could use the mechanism to create a massive burst of energy.

Cool. Palpatine doesn't need to solely reply on his Force Lightning though, as you're aware. Force Crush (which Palpatine can use to crush heavily armored AT-AT walkers, as detailed in The Book of Anger), Force Storms, psychic assaults, telikentic assaults and Force Drain do not require a reflectable beams of energy to be fired at the opponent and will therefore bypass Royal Guard.

Dante is far faster than lightning in his human form in his Devil Trigger form he should be able to reach FTL speeds and he battled Vergil who was hypersonic+ during his younger years also he blitzed a thousand year old demon who has heightened as well as inhumanly senses on top of that he can teleport.

We've already covered this multiple times. To continue with this would simply be restating the same points.

Good point but Dante`s Devil Trigger doesn`t only increase his speed but it also increases his reflexes, agility, stamina and every aspect which includes durability as well as senses.

True. However, Dante's Devil Trigger won't last forever and his speed even with it on, is (in my opinion) still below Palpatine's (as I've attempted to prove in previous responses).

As logical as that is and even though it does seem plausible, I'm not sure how well that holds water in terms of this debate. I mean, have any of these guys physically destroyed Earth-sized planets in even a few strikes? It just seems like a bit of a stretch, honestly.

Dante`s has extreme high resistance in his base form and immunity in his Devil Trigger form it wouldn`t work, Dante could open up a portal with Yamato and escape via the portal.

Palpatine can summon these Force Storms as fast as he can process, which is essentially nearly as fast as light itself. And the effects of this Storm occur as soon as it gets near the target, which, given Palpatine's control over the Storms, will be as soon as he summons one.

Dante won't be able to escape with a portal simply because he won't survive long enough to open one.

Dante`s will is too great and there`s no proof he would be able to manipulate his will so swiftly like he did to Darth Vader, Dante could even summon up a couple of Doppelgangers to help combat and keep Palpatine occupied.

I've never really seen Dante's will to be that impressive.

And yeah, I've already addressed how the Doppelgangers may actually hinder Dante more then they help him. Furthermore, has he ever actually shown the ability to use more then one at a time?

Dante has resisted all types of lightning that are far more powerful he has resisted Alastor`s supernatural lightning, Blitz`s lightning and Nevan`s lightning also Dante uses telekinesis as well so I don`t see that happening and it wouldn`t even affect him or be able to K.O him at least, even if it managed to hit or work against him regardless. Also Yamato can cut through anything which includes, dimensions, space and realms so I don`t see how the barrier regardless of its classification would prove to be something different or impossible.

Yoda's telekinesis is a lot stronger then Dante's, yet he and Sidious were very closely contested in terms of TK (before Palpatine had reached his peak as of Dark Empire, of course). I never said the Maelstrom would KO him, just that it would keep him at bay.

Also, what's to stop Palpatine from simply disarming Dante?

Either through this method:

No Caption Provided

Or through the use of his TK abilities:

Sidious shifted like a liquid shadow, maneuvering around his apprentice. Maul was suddenly up against the wall, gasping for breath as his vision blurred. His strength was evaporating. He turned fast to see Sidious. Sidious lashed out with his lightsaber. Maul parried the blow, but then his lightsaber suddenly flew from his hand. As Maul heard his lightsaber deactivete and clatter across the cave's floor, Sidious raised his own lightsaber and advanced.

--Taken from The Wrath of Darth Maul

I am gasping, trying to suck in enough air to keep going. My vision blurs as Lord Sidious raises his lightsaber. I parry the blow, but my lightsaber suddenly flies out of my hand, torn by the power of my Master directing the dark side. I realize then that he has just begun to tap into his own reserves. Mine are played out.

--Taken from Episode 1 Journal: Darth Maul

Darth Sidious raised his right hand, palm outward.

Before Maul could prevent it—even if he had chosen to do so—the long cylinder that was his double-bladed lightsaber flew from its hitch on his belt and went directly to his Master. But instead of grasping it, Sidious stopped the lightsaber in midflight, centimeters from his raised hand, and directed it to spin and rotate before him, leaving Maul to gaze at him in unabashed awe. Sidious bade the lightsaber to ignite. From each end blazed a meter-long blade of rubicund fire, hypnotic in the intensity of its burning. The free-floating weapon pivoted left, then right, eliciting a thrumming sound that was as menacing as it was rousing.

"An exquisite weapon," Sidious said. "Tell me, my young apprentice, what were you thinking when you fashioned it? Why this and not a single blade, as the Jedi prefer?"

"The single blade has limitations, Master, in offense and defense. It made sense to me to be able to strike with both ends."

Sidious made a sound of approval. "You must bear that in mind when you go to Dorvalla, Darth Maul. But remember this What is done in secret has great power. A sword master knows that when he flourishes his blade, he reveals his intent. Be watchful. It is too soon to reveal ourselves."

"I understand, Master."

Sidious deactivated the lightsaber and sent it back to Maul, who received it as one might a cherished possession.

--Taken from Darth Maul: Saboteur

The whole 'Yamato cutting the Force Storm' pr hm simply teleporting out of range (unless he can teleport to the other side of the planet, I don't see that happening) was addressed in my previous response. And as a spirit, Palpatine won't effect the atmosphere. A spirit is a nonphysical, intangible force.

Palpatine can suppress his own negative energy and his precognition is superior regardless, considering Palpatine can predict his intentions using Dante's own thoughts, feelings ans energy too.

Now this is a deadly and underrated weapon that Dante carries it officially has six hundred and sixty-six weapons although seven are revealed in game and the most ultimate revealed is Pandora`s Omen which is the supernatural light that obliterates all in its path and it had no effect on Dante whatsoever in a way Iconsider it to be Dante`s version of Penance Stare.

While that Pandora's Box is impressive, I don't see Dante being able to use it before Palpatine just flings it away using telekinesis or he could crush it, warp it away with a Force Storm (that last one is a bit overkill, but still).

It is just a really big box after all, and such things would not to above Palpatine to just throw it halfway across the planet where Dante can't get to it.

I think a lot of what this argument boils down to is the fact that while Dante has resisted some of the abilities Palpatine has, the magnitude of these abilities doesn't match up to Palpatine's.

However, this is just my opinion and the voters may think differently.

I don`t mind starting it now but its more so up to you when you believe the time to be appropriate.

I think now would probably be a good time to open voting. We've said practically all that can be said for these characters and to debate anymore, we'd just have to go in circles.

Shall I officially open this thread to votes?

@comicstooge:

Dante is very much faster than lightning he reacted to Blitz and moves at lightning speeds as well as lightning reflexes due to Alastor but he moves much faster in later installments he has battled and triumphed over man lightning users.

Your welcome and that`s another awesome point as well as counter-argument. This technique might work to some degree but Dante`s sense isn`t of a normal sense its supernatural in nature and Dante still has precognition to warn him in correlation to his heightened senses.

Dante doesn`t suffer from any of these things especially as showcased within DMC 2, its more so anger and pain, Dante has no fear, worry or any type of desire for power so there would be nothing for Palpatine to target also Dante`s will is far too strong and he has already been targeted before mentally in the psychic realm and physical realm so it wouldn`t anything new to him.

Basically, if there aren't any negative feelings for Palpatine to exploit, he'll create some and use them to break Dante's will. And anyway, it's not as if Palpatine has to force his way into Dante's mind, he'd been subtly effecting minds for years without the need for ramming through physic barriers.

I don`t think it would be that easy considering Dante doesn`t only have a strong will but also precognition and Dante doesn`t dwell on negative emotions, he`s sound and clear minded individual, also Dante could reverse it with his demonic energy like he did to the Nightmare creature and when Dante goes into his DT mode, I doubt Palpatine would be able to effect him in that form because it negates mental assaults of many kinds or prevents them from even happening.

Dante isn`t just some normal Jedi or human his supernatural senses are complex also his Devil Trigger will respond if a change were to occur as shown in DMC 3 when the demon Tower was shifting and its atmosphere was triggering or responding back to Dante`s demonic sensory energy and Dante`s Devil Trigger was reacting to it.

It would but it is more so gameplay mechanics due to the developers wanting to add a sense of challenge for the player in this case there won`t be any gameplay mechanics similar to comic characters and PIS. The Doppelgangers themselves can still help Dante through distraction methods and so on so forth.

Good point but it wouldn`t mean he would be able to counter them as effectively and Dante controls them with his will, I doubt he would be able to dodge thousands of Judgement Cuts from Yamato or Pandora`s Omen bursting with light from all directions and angles.

That is a valid point it would assist Palpatine greatly but it wouldn`t guarantee him a win Dante himself possesses similar abilities and has fought beings with similar abilities so he does have some form of experience in handling these types of threats also most if not all of Palpatine`s efforts or attacks wouldn`t actually be able to kill, K.O or harm Dante enough for a win.

That`s because of gameplay mechanics realistically it wouldn`t have a limit, its not like Naruto`s Shadow Clones.

Dante can summon three and Palpatine could manage but I doubt it considering the fact that the Doppelgangers themselves share all of Dante`s abilities so they would be not only distracting him but also threatening him with abilities that can prove to be unavoidable.

Possibly at some point, but Dante still needs to think "I need to teleport to this position" and the like, something Palpatine would have to difficultly discerning from Dante's mind. The whole "unpredictability" aspect of Dante is ground we've already covered, so there's no point into repeating it.

Agreed.

Even if he could cut through a Force Storm, how is he supposed to cut something so massive it can lay waste to the surface of entire planets and has instantaneous effects? It'll already be tearing him apart/teleporting him away the moment he attempts to cut it.

Yamato can cut through anything and has shown to being able to cut through highly powered illusions, the entire reality died to one single swipe also Dante can produce multiple Judgement Cuts or use Judgement Spheres which could range in the thousands and they cut directly through dimensional rifts and barriers, Dante shouldn`t have a problem speed-wise.

Dante would destroy Palpatine`s spirit before it can even do anything, Dante has annihilated beings of pure energy, ghosts, incorporeal beings and beings that are just of a misty nature. Dante`s Jackpot seals demons and evil beings also it banishes them through an outburst of Dante`s demonic energy and Dante doesn`t need to use it to destroy Palpatine`s spirit also wouldn`t Dante be already declared the winner considering one of the requirements is win by death? That is an interesting point but Dante could still destroy Palpatine`s spirit regardless and he would due to being bloodlusted.

It has nothing to do with his energy or stamina its connected directly with demonic energy that is the only connection and it recharges based on that energy, he would have plenty of energy nothing has ever pushed Dante in DMC 2 and we don`t know his true limits because of how tremendously powerful he becomes also Dante can even heal from the attack thanks to Royal Release. Dante can use Royal Guard as much as he wants just as long as he is fast enough to react and not suffer from anything that relates to grapple maneuvers but he doesn`t have those problems to hold him back so he definitely can accomplish this.

He can and he will, he has faced far more powerful beings than Palpatine, Palpatine on the other hand has not faced anything as powerful or versatile like Dante also Dante has done these things while showing mercy and holding back being bloodlusted could correlate to him being amoral.

Palpatine, being able to easily become aware of this fact through his mind reading, would simply hit him with an insta-kill attack, such as the Force Storm.

I'd also like to point out that Force Lightning actually drains the target's life force when they are hit with it, so it isn't simple lightning.

Dante with precognition and heightened senses would have Palpatine killed before that could even initiate or process as thought also as I mentioned earlier, Dante has many ways in which he could avoid the Force Storm another is his Majin Form which makes him completely invulnerable.

Dante has high resistance against life force draining and has come in contact with it from more powerful users of the actual ability such as Agnus, Nevan and etc. Within his DT forms he is completely immune to its effects also Dante could just use Royal Guard/Royal Release or substitute in a Doppelganger.

None of those AT-AT walkers possess the level of durability and regeneration as Dante does also Devil Trigger would make Dante insusceptible to grapple or restraining assaults and with his strong will he would pull through also the attack itself wouldn`t harm him, he`s faced worse and come out on top with a smile, Dante can combat telekinesis with his own telekinesis and will, Force Storms can be dealt with, with the aid of Yamato and Majin Form, Force Drain wouldn`t affect Dante he`s immune to it in his DT forms.

We've already covered this multiple times. To continue with this would simply be restating the same points.

Agreed, which is why we should avoid them and discover new arguments or new interpretations for arguments to formulate different perspectives thus prolonging the new refreshing elements.

True. However, Dante's Devil Trigger won't last forever and his speed even with it on, is (in my opinion) still below Palpatine's (as I've attempted to prove in previous responses).

Actually it would, the reason why its depleted by Dante`s runes and energy gauges is due to the fact of gameplay mechanics, Dante hasn`t shown limit of it within the anime, I`m pretty sure it would apply here as well especially with no gameplay mechanics involved also even if it didn`t last Dante`s life force would be recovered and his injuries (if Palpatine manages to harm him) would be healed which also goes back to Royal Guard, also Majin Form is unlimited and so is Dreadnaught form.

As logical as that is and even though it does seem plausible, I'm not sure how well that holds water in terms of this debate. I mean, have any of these guys physically destroyed Earth-sized planets in even a few strikes? It just seems like a bit of a stretch, honestly.

Mundus has displayed mountain range destructibility with the content of his energy attacks, Abigail has shown city+ level destruction and Dante` top tier forms have displayed more capability also its an unlimited energy supply to further the level of capacity that needs to be produced in the productivity of destruction so its not too far fetched but I understand your point, I more so would say it is a planet wrecking power to bring it down a notch.

Dante could have Palpatine dead before that happens and Dante`s Majin Form would make him completely invulnerable or immune to any form of damage, Dreadnaught form does this also and Dante is FTL in his Devil Trigger forms.

Yes he could, he`s FTL himself and can open up multiple portals even if he somehow was sucked in, Yamato would just cut a dimensional rift and he also has teleportation so there`s no proof it would be an insta-kill.

I've never really seen Dante's will to be that impressive.

And yeah, I've already addressed how the Doppelgangers may actually hinder Dante more then they help him. Furthermore, has he ever actually shown the ability to use more then one at a time?

And why is that? Dante has a very strong will as evidenced with Mundus, Nightmare, and the many demons he has encountered there`s no actual proof either that Palpatine would be able to control or manipulate a mind such as Dante that has psychic blocks also that is supernatural rather than human or Jedi.

It was shown throughout gameplay within DMC 3 and its proven by the lore as I have showcased the in game manuals to you earlier within one of the earlier points.

Good point and I understand, but it doesn`t mean that Dante wouldn`t be able to hold his own, it wouldn`t be as much as a problem to keep him at bay considering the fact that Dante doesn`t allow things to waste his time or prevent him from getting the job done now being bloodlusted just amps up the ante and point even further.

I am aware and like I mentioned earlier Dante has fought beings who have the same trait before, even beings who seemed to be more impossible in the inheriting and navigating of the physical plane in which they didn`t even basically exist due to lacking an actual form, Dante`s weapons being of supernatural origin still managed to destroy them, Yamato, teleportation and Majin Form will help Dante against the Force Storms or anything relating to it.

Dante wouldn`t fall prey to that, he possesses a precognition of his own, heightened and atmospheric senses and he has dealt with energy manipulation/absorption on many accounts so its nothing new to him.

I doubt Palpatine could crush or just toss it away, telekinesis seems more plausible but it is more an assumption on your part than actual fact, Dante could just summon it back to his hand with his own Telekinesis also he wouldn`t let Palpatine crush it the actual item is an embodied soul as well its in an tangible form once Dante absorbs it and summons it to his presence, so its not as easy as you think and its connected to Dante`s will or control. Dante can have a Doppelganger use the same tactic and Palpatine wouldn`t be able to do either of the two options you mentioned, Dante can deal with a Force Storm.

Not exactly. Its a soul in the form of a box most of Dante`s weapons are like this also Dante has telekinesis too and he can locate it via demonic connection also he has Doppelganger which can mimic Pandora and like I said in the previous point Palpatine wouldn`t be able to do either.

Interesting point but their not exactly below either to the point of proving my arguments to be invalid its merely assumption and opinion to believe such things as well due to the fact of what Palpatine has actually used his abilities on, and these victims are not half demons that work in demonic fields.

Agreed.

I think now would probably be a good time to open voting. We've said practically all that can be said for these characters and to debate anymore, we'd just have to go in circles.

Shall I officially open this thread to votes?

I agree, we should let the voting commence and awesome job on the debating of Palpatine, I must commend you!

@neongamewave: Thanks man, you did a great job too!

Anyway, the only thing I'd like to say in response to what you said is that the destruction of Palpatine's body will mean Dante's victory regardless of whether Palpatine spirit survives or not:

The key to Luke's turning is the moment when he and Leia realize the Emperor is no longer defined by his physical form, but has become a chaotic nexus of dark energies that swell and burst open the fabric of space, tearing apart everything in the vicinity, human and machine.

--Taken from the Dark Empire endnotes

So yeah, the death of Palpatine's body will only slow him down.

Regardless, that's only a small detail and hardly worth continuing to debate over.

Let's start the votes!

There aren't actually too many scans here. Just walls of text and some videos, mostly.

I think I'll vote for comicstooge too. While the single speed feat he has in his entire history isn't enough to say he's faster than Dante, this is about debaters, not characters, and Dante is no where near light speed like neon said. Dante also doesn't have any form of precog or advanced senses, at least, I never noticed any.

I feel like Dante would win thanks to his strength, Palpatine will have a tough time hanging onto his weapon and Dante will have him all unfocused, but that's also something neon didn't put much focus on.

I vote for comicstooge. Neon was doing a lot of wanking in this thread; Dante is nowhere near as strong as he's made out to be here.

I respect your vote as well as decision but what do you mean by wanking, do you even know Dante`s character and do you play video games now?

I know enough about Dante to know he's not a planet buster or that he's not as fast as lightning. He has no feats to support either claim; so, I thought you did quite a bit of wanking there. Everything else you said was pretty much on target, though.

Cripes, that was a lot to read. I know a fair bit about Palpatine since I'm in a Superman vs Palpatine debate currently but Dante is something new for me. Nonetheless, neongamewave did a solid job elucidating Dante's abilities and weapons in this debate. I don't know whether he exaggerated Dante's capabilities but comicstooge did play the near relativistic combat speed feat out of hand. I've dealt with that assertion before. Thus, in the end, it's quite a close match in terms of pure debating skill but I have to give the edge to @comicstooge for his excellent rebuttals to neon's points. Awesome debate to the both of you!

Dante. There is so much going for him and he can shrug off injuries that'd otherwise kill Palpy and pretty much anyone else in the SWU. Including a demon stone in DMC3 that was literally sucking the life out of him while he was carrying it.

Just can't win against a guy whose favorite dish...is a strawberry sundae.

That was more so a logical viewpoint on my part, which is why I toned it down to planet wrecker which I meant more so and Dante actually is fast as lightning, he reacted to the lightning demon Blitz, has lightning reflexes and combat speed with Alastor as he has also shown to move faster in later games, I have every single game and beaten every single game. I also read the manga as well as plan on ordering the anime (except for that DmC still thinking about if I should purchase it) interesting point.

I also respect your decision and vote, but I have to clarify on a few things as well as misconceptions of this post. Dante has easily moved passed lightning speed by DMC 4 and it has been shown that with Devil Trigger his attributes would increase dramatically, realistically it would make Dante relativistic in combat, reflex and reaction speed. Actually he does if you notice in DMC 3, Dante`s DT was activating randomly as shown when Dante was sensing the energy in the atmosphere that was emitting from the Demon Tower that Sparda utilized to seal himself and everything else with him, Dante`s Alastor weapon always sparks with electricity when a boss, new enemy type and so on is near his presence and he has advanced senses due to being a half demon.

I did place focus on Dante`s physical strength and its not really much of an issue because lifting strength wouldn`t be too much of a need in Dante`s situation as I said Dante has telekinesis and other ways of working around Palpatine`s telekinetic abilities which is why I don`t see any reason for me to elaborate on something of no importance in regards to Dante`s physical lifting strength when it doesn`t deal with the mechanics and dynamics of another energy type that is not physical in contact or nature.
