captain america vs batman

ROUND 1:

Standard gear. Opposite ends of a city block. Sun is setting. Unpopulated and the full environment is at their disposal. In character / standard elimination rules apply / random encounter.

ROUND 2:

Unarmed combat in a dojo. In character / random encounter / standard elimination rules apply.

ROUND 3:

Ladies and gentlemen, it's bloodlust time. Discuss how round 1 and 2 would play out if the characters were going for the kill.

Well obviously with prep, Bats wins (what else is new) but in a one on one fight, I say the Cap.

You're right. You'd think he could do something besides resorting to biting.

Though if he does get over that, I think he would win. Not that I think he has any more experience since Marvel uses a sliding time scale so at most 15 years have passed since America was freed from that block of ice. Batman has been training at least that long and supposedly he knows every imaginable martial art at the level of a master.

I pick Cap because he is a peak human across the board. That should prove the difference in a fight to the death without any prior knowledge of each other.

People forget the sliding timescale (something like: the F4 always happened 10 years ago) plus the fact that he spent much of his "career" in the ice not fighting, glad you brought it up. I still think he's skilled, but it's something to remember.

This would be a very difficult fight for Cap, even though I think he has the best chance of winning. Batman has a whole arsenal in his utility belt and a lot of those things can't be blocked by a shield. He could hit cap with gas pellets or use a sonic weapon. He could apply an adhesive to the shield and get Cap to miss him and get his shield stuck on a wall. It's hard to notice someone applying adhesive to your shield when youre ducking behind it. And it's not like he only has certain things in his belt, he's almost always got whatever he needs in there so Cap could be in serious trouble.

If Batman had been handcuffed by Gotham's finest and feeling like he should be thrown in prison like in that issue (Cap #25) he would have been taken out by one (if not all) of his numerous enemies too.

I think with no prep Cap cuts that A#$%. Stronger, Faster, Tougher and better hand to hand. With prep Batman could maybe possibly somehow maybe could maybe possibly.......beat....beat..... Captain America. man that was tough to say I hate to think Cap would lose to any normal level human.

Better martial arts skill? I would say Cap is at LEAST as good.

assuming cap was here now, he wouldn't be alowed into the sheild helicarrier. avengers mansion? where is that? do you mean stark tower? if you want to go that way bats gets all the technolgy form the watch tower etc

None of that should matter. It's not like either one of them needs to gear up to fight the other one.

No, I'm talking as if this fight took place at any time over much of their careers... if we go now... Cap's dead. It's a moot point.

If we go during No Man's Land: Bats is distracted, tired and has no access to the Bat Cave.

During the vast majority of his career Cap had access to SHIELD weaponry and the gadgets created by Dr. Pym and McCoy in the Mansion.

Agreed. And IF we say that Batmans is as good a fighter as cap (which he is not) Captain America is still much stronger, much faster, much more durable, and has much greater endurance. take two guys with equal fighting skill and the one who is bigger stronger faster with better endurance wins everytime!

What makes Captain America so much more skilled than Batman?

Are you saying he's trained a lot of people or been trained by a lot of people? Either way, the same can be said for Batman. Batman also faces characters a lot stronger than him. What makes Cap the unquestionably superior martial artist?

I hate this batman can prepare crap. Captain is not much of a complex opponent. He has a shield that won't be destroyed during battle and will punch batman's lights out. If they throw down no prep time I give it to the man with the shield.

bats is known for his martial arts prowess, i've never really heard the same of cap, and i think trhe general consensus is that bats is better, he is #1 in the comicvine stats as well as others, and he is the only one i have seen people vs bruce lee in threads, here and on myspace. also you must include batmans gadgets and batcave equipment as that is as much his superpower as supermans flight.
