It's that time of the week. Time to look at the latest edition of Best Battles in New Comics. Comics often feature big battles with superheroes fighting supervillains. Sometimes we even have superheroes fighting other superheroes. Get ready to cheer and possibly cringe at the brutal punches being thrown.
There will be some spoilers below (and some naughty words)!
LEGACY OF LUTHER STRODE #3
(By Justin Jordan, Tradd Moore, and Felipe Sobreiro)
Whenever there's an issue of LEGACY OF LUTHER STRODE, you can pretty much assume you're going to see it here. As expected, things get crazy and over the top.
Things start out as Luther is trying to peacefully talk to an assassin and get him to see that killing isn't the answer. He obviously doesn't want to listen and turns his guns on Luther. Petra is up above so she shoots at the guy with a sniper rifle.
The thing is, this guy is good. He's really good. Just as the bullet is headed his way, he shoots in Petra's direction.
Her reaction is pretty classic. The guy's bullet manages to go through hers and heads her way. Uh oh.
The fight does continue between the guy and Luther. This guy isn't just about shooting. He has hand to hand skills as well and combines the two.
It's a good thing Luther can take quite a bit. The fight turns into a chase through a building. They head up and up until the guy jumps backwards through a building.
This isn't even the end. There's a lot more that you'll want to see. It doesn't end quite like you might think.
DEADLY CLASS #16
(By Rick Remender, Wes Craig, and Jordan Boyd)
Things are not going well for Marcus Lopez. Marcus has broken some serious rules at Kings Dominion School of the Deadly Arts. He's also turned on his friends. When another student, Viktor, gives him the ultimatum of turning in his friends to the headmaster or he'll turn them all in, Marcus has only one choice. He goes after Viktor to shut him up. He planned on taking him out during his nightly run but a mandatory surprise assembly calls them back to the school. Viktor plans on showering first so this still gives Marcus a chance.
Unfortunately, Viktor moved a little to grab the soap, causing Marcus to miss. He gets some good shots in on Marcus which causes him to drop the gun. But he still has a knife.
Viktor's a big dude but he knows when he's at a disadvantage. All he has to do is leave after Marcus slipped on the soap and regroup. Marcus manages to get up to take another shot.
Shooting the faculty is never a good thing.
And if you think he's in a bad situation now, you have no idea what's coming up next. It just keeps getting worse and worse.
BATMAN/SUPERMAN #24
(By Greg Pak, Ardian Syaf, Yildiray Cinar, Howard Porter, Dean White, and Beth Sotelo)
Superman and the new Batman are trying to retrieve a stolen artificial 'sun' that it's possession of a subterranean army. The problem is, it's about to go supernova. Also, Aquaman has been convinced to side with them against the evil mankind. That means it's up to a slightly depowered Superman to try to talk sense into him. Good luck.
At first, Aquaman is too enraged at how the seas are being poisoned. He plans on dealing with Superman while Ukur works on getting the sun out of the ocean. That's not good for Superman.
It seems Aquaman isn't necessarily as unreasonable as it may seem. He feels he can save the depowered Superman from Ukur and wants him to take a fall. Superman can't fully go along with this since he's not sure Aquaman realizes what's really at stake.
Can Superman keep this going? There's so much going on plus Batman is busy with his part.
Superman thinks about giving up. But this is Superman we're talking about. No way he gives up that easily. So you'll have to read the issue yourself to see what happens next.
**BONUS!!**
GIANT SIZE LITTLE AVX #4
(By Skottie Young and Jean-Francois Beaulieu)
There's been a lot of fighting going on here, as you can imagine. It's all been over some twins that arrived at Marville. Both Avengers and X-Men have been trying to win them over onto their team. Things just get more complicated when the Guardians of the Galaxy show up. If that wasn't enough, the Inhumans show up too. What this leads up to is four glorious pages showing one battle scene. Or, if you read it on the Marvel app, you can see it as one continuous image.
You really need to read all four issues.
