Apollo Creed vs. Clubber Lang
@guardiandevil83: Thats not a feat. Apollo wins
I'm really kinda surprised that so many ppl are going with Creed. Lang was the first boxer to legitimately stomp Rocky, albeit an unfocused Rocky. Of course Mickey's untimely death played it's part in Rocky's defeat as well but, technically speaking, Rocky still would've lost even if he had been hungry. Rocky's in-fighting, brawler type style was exposed and exploited by Lang and it took completely retooling Rocky's footwork and fighting style just to make him a contender; Apollo basically had to train him to become an out-boxer to win. All of this should definitely be taken into consideration.
This really is a tough one.
On one hand, Apollo is obviously the more technical fighter. It was by using his moves that Rocky defeated Lang. That said, Rocky was enough to beat Apollo just by being a strong brawler, and Lang beat him at that. But at the same time, Lang doesn't have Rocky's durability.

Or stamina for that matter
Apollo.

In his prime, Apollo outclasses this chump. Too fast, too technical and remarkably resilient. Remember, Apollo went 30 rounds with Rocky. That says something about his chin and his heart.
Lang is a glass cannon. No endurance and decent durability. Lang was exhausted and KO'ed in the 3rd round.
Apollo would end up dancing around him, picking him apart with his jab, wearing him down, frustrating him and then finishing him in one of the later rounds.

Best answer right here. I can honestly say that I'm convinced that Apollo would win this fight so this is the last bump from me.
Ok. I get that everybody thinks its an Ali-Foreman type of match. Lang hits with Drago-type power. Apollo was murdered, MURDERED by Drago in the 2nd round. I'd have to say Clubber would knock Apollo out. Especially considering that blocking punches is rarer than Haley's comet in the Rocky films. Clubber, KO, round 3 or 4
Apollo would defeat Rocky by points in the second fight, but he lost because he tried to knock him out. Apollo would beat Clubber by points or KO in the 5 round.
Rocky2>Apollo
Clubber>Rocky2
So how is Apollo>Clubber? Just because Apollo trained Rocky how to fight differently to beat Clubber does not mean he could beat him. He doesn't have the chin.

Rocky is not Dragon Ball Z. Time passes and stronger opponents appear.
Majin Buu >> Cell >> Frieza
This does not exist in Rocky. Drago is the most lethal fighter, but he appears in the '80s. Dragon would kill Mason Dixon, Tommy gunn and adonis. Apollo appears before of Cluber, but it means nothing. Apollo is better than Clubber.
A little confused by the term "prime" here.....Apollo was never shown to be in his prime, in the first film he was already past his prime and even rocky was on the wrong side of his 20's. but i suppose it's the peak version we have seen so that will (kinda) constitute as prime.
I think apollo would win but it would surely come to votes; he IS NOT knocking out Lang.
Lang is meant to be how Balboa was in the first rocky; hungry for the win "the eye of the tiger". If you look at the demeanor of Balboa in Rocky 3 & Creed in Rocky 1, it's the exact same.
Also If you look at the demeanor of Lang (rocky 3 obviously) and balboa in rocky 1 it's the same. He was essentially fighting a version of himself, raised in the rough ghetto of Philly that he had long forgotten cause of his glory & fame. (It's actually a great plot line and one of my favorites of the series.)
so yeah...apollo wins but it's prolly going down like the end of Rocky 1
@peterrubiohard: No I don't mean it like that I'm saying that you have to be better than someone to beat them...Rocky was better than Apollo but not Clubber that's why he lost. He has the chin but not the speed or skill til Apollo trained him. Apollo has the speed and skill but not the chin or heart. He would be knocked out by Lang.
Apollo Creed is very technically skilled/sound in his prime, so he would take a TKO or decision over Lang.
Apollo is skilled granted he was one reason rocky won but rocky also has better stamina better durability better pinching power on top of that. Apollo is going to probably last till a later round but he struggled against rocky who was a high pressure fighter and Tony told Apollo he wasn't a good match up if clubber even gets a few shots in i reckon Apollo goes down.
Creed wins. While Lang might be stronger and ferocious his lack of agility and endurance would put him at great disadvantage against someone as skilled, endurant and agile as Creed in his prime.
Rocky Is the most durable fighter in the series and even he couldnt withstand Clubbers punches.
@kgb725: You're talking about a sloppy version of Rocky. Look at what happened during their second fight, Lang was decimated once Rocky started outfighting him due to his lack of agility and endurance.Creed who's much better than Rocky at outfighting doesn't have to endure Lang's punches, he just have to outfight Lang by dodging an blocking most of his hooks and hitting Lang until Clubber's stamina runs out. It would be like Muhammad Ali vs George Foreman.
