Ehh, poison cloud, if I remember correctly(it has been years since I played) only really killed weak fodder anyway. I barely even remember soul steal.

Isn't there a spot where you have to have a certain armor to get through it? I was thinking it was the Spike Breaker Armor but I could be wrong.

You can get through it by using the bat transformation and Sonar.
@akshsarpanch: No, he still regenerated, right after van helsing phased back, his scars are the result of van helsing trying to bite him. It's the same case with a lot of Hancock fights. It's a stalemate. And I think you , mean nlf?
