How big is Hive Fleet Leviathan? Because unlesseach vessel/craft/whatever can survive Exterminatus level firepower, they aren't going to survive long.

@the_imperator: It is the largest Tyranid Incursion to have happened in the Galaxy.

@admiralnakbar: I knew what it was, I just wanted some numbers on the fleet size. Also, can their vessels survive Exterminatus level firepower. The Death Star can rapid fire, or at lesat once every couple minutes IIRC. The Eclipses can all fire planet cracking (though not busting) blasts, though they take longer to recharge. So that is like 3 ships per battle that don't even get to fight back. How big is Leviathan?

@the_imperator: Its tendrils almost reached Earth and when it first came by an entire sector was vanquished.

@admiralnakbar: That doesn't mean anything, since the fleet was not actual tentacles, but ships. And even if it got that far, Star Wars Hyperdrive is still massively faster than Warp travel, so numbers really matter in this scenario. Plus, Imperium response time is rather slow, what with all the bureaucracy and Warp travel time. Was there any number placed on the fleet?

could Ysalimir disable Tyranid psychers?

because if they could, he could pretty effectively disorganize the entire rebellion

@betatesthighlander1: The Tyranids are invaders from another galaxy somewhat like the Yuzhaan Vong.

@admiralnakbar: but Yuuzzhan Vong have no force/psych powers ( the two seem essentially identical)

@betatesthighlander1: The Tyranids are controlled by a very powerful psychic being known as the Hive Mind and I myself speculate it to be a rogue C'tan/Chaos God. Many psykers died communicating with it. Only one survived.

@admiralnakbar: yeah, but Ysalimir negate the force entirely (as far as I can tell)

@betatesthighlander1: No they form anti force bubbles to negate the force but it would require many to just form a bubble a few kilometers long.

To win, does Thrawn have to annihilate the Hive Fleet or just save the Empire?

@betatesthighlander1: Annihilation is the only method and the Ysalimir require special nutrients.

@admiralnakbar: what if Thrawn redirected the entire Hive fleet like, into Srii Ruuk, Rebellion, and Chiss space than waits for those Battles to end and wipes out whatever survives?

@kevhunt: I am just giving the empire a little more stuff to use.

The Ssi-ruuk struggled against a pocket fleet. The rebellion didn't have the fire power to make a difference if the Tyranids can go up against the imperial fleet in question. I highly doubt Thrawn would use the Chiss Ascendancy as a shield for the empire.

@kevhunt: I think that The Tyreanids are predictable enough that Thrawn will be able to work around their eating habits, flying in when their weak and way when their ready to attack, destroying every planet they land on as soon as a decent portion lands, he should eventually wear down the fleet
