@gxrevolution96: Yes they did, and no she didn't. They were leaving before the Dark Spirit even appeared to Korra, and it wasn't until after they left that she made the spout shrink. If they couldn't escape, then why did they?

What do you mean how could they? I never even said for certain they could, i just said theres no clear indication that they couldn't. A possible way for them to counter would be to dismiss it like how firebenders dismiss fireblasts. They could also try and freeze Korra's lower body that was in the spout, or get out of the spout like they did and try to attack Korra from outside where they could see better..this is all just speculation as there's no way for us to know for sure what would have happened if the Dark Spirit didn't appear. But what we can't say is that they were helpless when they weren't in there long enough to make much out of it besides the obvious.

@juiceboks Again, no. Eska and Desna did not leave the waterspout. Korra dissipated it. I have no idea where getting this from as the video above shows no such thing. Let me break it down for you...

Korra creates the waterspout which pushes the twins back and engulfs them.

Inside the water spout, the dark spirit passes right underneath the twins

After noticing the mysterious glow, the twins briefly gaze at each other.

As you can quite clear see here in the picture below, Korra advertently dissipates the water spout and halts her attack.

No Caption Provided

Now I ask you; At what point do the twins leave the waterspout?

@gxrevolution96: Okay quite frankly, I'm just about done debating this point with anybody. Mostly because it matters very little to my overarching point. They gave Korra trouble in a fight, that's all I'm really saying.

Unalaq would probably take out Katara, and the twins have better feats then Kya or Bumi, and would wreck them pretty quickly. Then Tenzin is ganged up on again.

@etheral_dreams: the twins have better feats like failing to tag Ming Hua, while Kya succeeded?

@avatarreiko Which they purposely went into and then left right afterwards..I don't see how that equates to Korra stomping them.

@juiceboks They didn't leave. The pictures the OP posted above shows that Korra stopped the attack.

I didn't say they did. They entered it, got hindered by the force for a second or two, and then left when they saw the Dark Spirit.

@juiceboks: I guess we have different definitions of entered. Imo, if they entered it they would have gotten past the water, but they didn't

I will give it to Aang's family because although bumi is the weak link bending wise he does have that crazy luck. Kya put up a better fight against the red lotus. Tenzin is a beast and korra's uncle and dad ain't got nothing on katara.

@primebonnick: what feats does Katara have that put her so far above Unalaq, especially his feats vs Korra at the South Pole?

@primebonnick:

Well he beat Mako and Bolin, and Tonraq, and was pretty even with Korra.

Any particular feats you think put Katara above Unalaq?

@arcus: sorry man mako and bolin don't cut it for me. His brother doesn't seem like a S class bender to me either. Well Katara actually managed to put up a "decent" fight against a master water bender when she wasn't even trained. She actually took down platoons and managed to beat the creator (well from what we know) of blood bending at her own game. All this before she was even 18.

@primebonnick:

Pakku was toying with her

Hama's skilled but she's also old, her main strength was her craftiness, but idk if in terms of pure waterbending idk if I'd put her securely above Tonraq, let alone Unalaq

@arcus: you see that i put decent in quotations right? which other noive (a woman too) would have impressed pakku that much in the series as a water bender at that age?

Hanma lost against blood bending to a katara that just learnt it man no need for craftiness there when she had the clear advantage. You still haven't told me who Unalaq beat who is notable though. Atleast tonraq went up against the red lotus twice and came out alive although he had world class benders with him each time and once when zaheer wasn't a bender.

@primebonnick:

Fair enough

Katara was beating her before Aang and Sokka showed up

Obviously Unalaq's not gonna have fought as many people as Katara. He fought Tonraq, Mako and Bolin, and Korra. Imo that's not bad at all, but that's sorta subjective. What's more important to consider than who people fought is feats, and Unalaq's got some very good feats, particularly in his fight with Korra

@primebonnick: good opponents or not (I'd still consider Tonraq a good bender), doesn't negate his feats.

This is making me wish, again, that Korra had longer seasons

How exactly does he solo?

Easily. His water spouts are to power and he can bend large quantities of water. Not to mention, he fought evenly with the avatar. A feat that cannot be ignored

Aangs family pretty comfortably.

Kya beats the twins mid-high dif.

Katara beats Tonraq mid dif at best.

Tenzin and Unalaq stalemate with a slight advantage to Unalaq.

Bumi can run interference I guess, but he's really not needed. A decent distraction with airbending though.

Aangs family has two top tiers, whereas Korras family has one (Unalaq). Sure he's probably the best here, but he's also the only one who can deal with Katara or Tenzin individually.

Aang's family. Katara and Tenzin are MVPs by far.

Aang's family. He's got two high tier threats (Katara and Tenzin) to Korra's one (Unalaq).

Tenzin=Unalaq>Katara>Kya=Desna and Eska>=Tonraq>>Bumi

Tenzin and Unalaq stalemate

Kya and Bumi stalemate the twins

Katara annihilates Tonraq

Katara proceeds to steamroll the twins and then Unalaq is ganged up on.
