Bale was initially 220lbs for Batman Begins; which is the same size as Cavill's Superman and slightly smaller than Ben Affleck's Batman weight, but for some reason Nolan asked Bale to cut down to 190lbs, which is what we got in the last two films and the majority of the first one.

I was impressed by Affleck's physique in BvS; to be so big yet at low bf%. What size do you think Bale and previous Batman actors should have been?

I think Bale looked fine, especially in Begins. The only Batmen that should have been bigger were Keaton, Kilmer and Clooney so pretty much the ones that sucked (Kilmer didn't suck). Affleck is a little bigger than I imagine Batman being, and in some scenes he looked like a thick snicker in that suit.

I think Bale was about the right size. I think they could have worked a little harder to define his musculature. Aside from that I think he was fine.

I think Bale was at 14-15% body-fat, that's why his muscles were not too defined; considering he always has ridiculous weight-changes I think it would have taken him too long to bulk up yet retain below 10% body-fat.

@frozen: That's understandable. He certainly looked athletic, it just would have looked better (if they'd had time to do it) if he'd looked a little more time to do it, or have him beef up a little, and lower his body fat a little) Either way, I think he looked OKAY, just not "perfect"...but what is?

Bale wasn't that muscular and had a few months before the shoot started so Nolan said 'get as big as you can' and Bale did, Nolan didn't think he'd get that big, lol, Bale is devoted as hell.

Nolan wanted a stealthier ninja-type as opposed to a physical beast though.

Nolan should have let him stay as he looked earlier on in Begins:

In terms of pure physique, this is Batman:

He was perfect in Begins but I feel like he should've filled out the TDK/R suit more.

Batman in Nolan films is a ninja he isn't supposed to be huge and I think It could have been ridiculous because oh I can't see that mountain of muscles xDDDD

Agree with everyone saying that Begins was in point.

Beastfleck is on another level and it makes sense that a Batman 20 years deep would trade his speed off for strength since he's bound to get slower through aging anyway.

Bales 220 looked a lot more impressive in the Bulkier suit from Begins which helped emphasize the fear aspect of Batmans persona.. Since his suit become more streamlined and provided better protection and speed, there was no reason to carry as much weight..190 is actually what Batman would of weighed in the 80s era when he was portrayed as being more like ninja with cat like reflexes which is essentially what Bales Batman was.As opposed to the roided out super soldier like heavyweight Batman we got now.And also the same Batman Affleck played to a tee..So imo his 190 was the best weight for him to continue the series with.
