Batman is a mask, the public Bruce Wayne is a mask, who its as the matter of fact the real person, the human being.

The idea that Batman is insane its just bizarre, if Batman is insane because he uses a silly costume to help people because of some tragedy he lived, this means all Superheroes are insane, not only this but even in real life people decide to help other using costumes to became a symbol of something bigger, thats its the reason people uses uniforms, if using costumes, helping childrens with their problems and help people makes you crazy, it means Fray Tormenta a priest that help orphans by being a luchador must be insane.

Not being like the rest, dont mean you are insane, turning something negative into something positive isnt insane, its life.

All the thing Batman does other do it too, i cant believe every person in the comics is insane.

Batman could said all the time he wants, that Bruce Wayne isnt real, but every bad thing that happens to Bruce Wayne hurt Batman, something that show the whole Batman being the true guy a lie, he build real relationships as Bruce Wayne to and they go beyond the need to be a mask, what so ever the Billionare PlayBoy isnt a true being either.

He lies to himself, but that isnt weird or insane.

Who its the real human being?

Bruce Wayne.

Batman.

Billionare Playboy.

All of them.

None of them.

What happened to Bruce Wayne in Crime Alley made him Batman. Since then Bruce Wayne was always a disguise he used whenever he needed it, something he had to practice. Just like any other one of his skills.

of course most superheroes are at least a bit crazy, that's been mentioned in comics many times

its completely different for a guy to become a masked Mexican wrestler(most are masked) and donate the winnings, vs dressing up like a Mexican wrestler and trying to fight a full gang who has guns, with your bare hands

That is a very simplistic view of things, the reality is far more complex.

Shallow characterization of the character its shallow even when it sounds "deep", faux deepness is fake deepness.

Batman isnt Rorschach or the Punisher or Deadpool.

Billionare PlayBoy, Batman and Bruce Wayne are the names from one person.

Faux deepness its one of the biggest problems in comics today.

I'm not sure what you mean by simplistic, but I always considered Bruce Wayne and "billionaire playboy" to be the same persona. Why would you say they are separate?

The difference is that he is COMPELLED to be Batman. Superman isn't compelled to be Superman, and Wonder Woman isn'f compelled to be WW. They could both stop their superhero stuff and be alright, from a mental standpoint.

Bruce IS Batman. Crime Alley killed Bruce Wayne and made Batman. If Bruce isn't Batman, he starts hallucinating and suffering from symptoms akin to PTSD. He NEEDS to be Batman.

That's the difference.

@battle_forum_junkie: Becuase isnt the same thing.

Real Bruce Wayne.
Real Bruce Wayne.
Billionare PlayBoy
Billionare PlayBoy
Billionare PlayBoy.
Billionare PlayBoy.

The funny thing its that people just totally ignore Bruce Wayne: Fugitive and Murderer actual meaning.

Comics that have him being only Batman and getting insane and losing his humanity, then everybody pointing the whole Batman being the true face a lie he tells himself, Superman, Nightwing and Catwoman point this.

Bruce Waayne is the person who wants justice foe all, and to try to have somewhat a normal life.

He created Batman to acomplish his goal, its an extention of himself. However Since Batman and Bruce essentially are the same person he has to hide this, So he created his Playboy Presona.

The The playboy presona is created to throw off anyone who might connect Bruce to being Batman. The best way is to contrast a Batman (Bruce Wayne) the masked vigilanty is to be a clumsy playboy.

Batman and Bruce Wayne are both personas. The real man is neither a spoiled and pompous celebrity, nor a monstrous and broken dweller of the shadows. The real man is a simple and serious, albeit essentially kind and warm family man. Seriously, Bruce Wayne or Batman or whatever the heck you want to call him is defined by his family above everything else. They're what he lives for.

I think the Nolan movies did a strong job showcasing Bruce Wayne's different personas.

There's the Batman, the monster with a terrifying and growly voice who scares the crap out of criminals.

There's Billionaire Bruce Wayne who's falling asleep in meeting, owns restaurants with a snap of his fingers and spends his time in hot-tubs and cruise-ships with supermodels.

And finally there's the "real" Bruce Wayne we see interacting with Alfred, Lucius Fox and Rachel Dawes. The one who truly wants what's best for Gotham, the one who's concerned with honoring his parents.

I haven't read Bruce Wayne: Murderer or Fugitive yet, but yeah, I see what you're getting at now; Batman is as much of a persona as the "billionaire playboy", each just have a different purpose. Though I think Bruce loosing his humanity to Batman is valid. It was touched on in Morison's run a few times, as well as being a major part of The Dark Knight Returns. He isn't only compelled to do good, but compelled to be Batman.

Batman is his real persona. Billionaire playboy is undoubtedly a fake.
