Public Domain redesign *18* Sun-Girl

Okaydokay, time for the next classic character to be redesigned, Here she is

After World War II, Mary Mitchell worked for Jim Hammond, the original Human Torch, as his secretary. She fell in love with Jim, and when Toro left to take care of his foster mother, Mary, using the name Sun Girl, began fighting alongside Jim as his sidekick.

Sun Girl is a trained acrobat and is skilled in judo and ji-jitsu. She has some level of super-human speed, and uses a Sunbeam ray-gun.

Ive chosen this character jus cause how much of a strong female character she was, from some of the images below you can see she was a no nonsense kinda gal, thats why she stands out to me as one of my favourite domain characters and feel she deserves a nice little reboot/redesign so go ahead :D

I might actually have something for this one...

I dunno. I kinda like her outfit as it is. The only thing I'd update would be the hair.

i tried to make her noticeable...her body is kinda long.

Here I have a design. At the moment, however, I have not a story for her.

My version of Sun Girl

Her power comes from the sun gem that allows her to construct a sun sphere that can both protect and be used as a weapon. She can construct a maximum of 10 sun sphere that can burn literally to anything as well as adjust the intensity of its heat. She is immune to any fire based powers and though water can somewhat weaken her, it can only do little as to slow her down or cool the heat for a few hundred degrees out of 100,000 degrees.

@turoksonofstone: she's on the list so i just assumed she was? But weve done characters before who were on the list but had appeared in the last decade :D

CONCEPT: Am a big fan of the classic cover from Marvel: the multiple quote bubbles, the pop-up bonus story in the corner (I basically see them as trailers for the actual issue :))

SUNGIRL: Made her into an Alien species (Bright yellow skin,Black Bikini,Head always on fire,Sun tattoo) her personality is inspired by "Maxima". Wanting to force Jim to be her lover.So she naturally attacks Toro,because she feels he's in the way (in a none homosexual way, don't think inappropriately)

JIM & TORO: I like there classic designs.With all the lines illustrating the muscle tones&face expressions. SUNGIRL is absorbing Toro's powers so i decided to make him half "flame-on" and half "flame-off" Came out awesome!

BUCKY: Wanted to add another INVADERS member in the corner so naturally i picked BUCKY,so just came up with a very general eye catcher quote!

Right heres my version i tweaked her powerset and gave her Photosynthesized Absorbtion which allows her to use the energy absorbed in 4 ways Pyrokinesis, Enhanced Speed, Enhance Strength & Flight.

I kinda got carried away but this is my version. I wanted to stay true to the original for the most part and decided to give her a more contemporary wardrobe while sticking with the same color scheme.

Here's a quick colored version of my entry.

So this is my version i went with a kinda Hazmat from marvel story where her body abosrbs dangerously large amounts of solar radiation and must wear a suit to store all that energy. And low and behold she uses it for heroics :P
