Working with pen, paper, and a very basic image editing software. This one was fun for me as one of my first comics as a kid was the Silver Surfer/Green Lantern crossover featuring Thanos.
Finally got it, looks like i have to use safari in order to get it to upload. Anyways, let me know what ya'll think. I think i'm going to go work on some of the other challenges

As recently as the 90's, comic book artists couldn't even show a bulge without their editors throwing a fit and making them get rid of it. :D

I just learned that Thanos stands only 6'7 and Silver Surfer as 6'4... so they are basically on the same height range only Thanos is only bulky in built as compared to Silver Surfer as on the sleek toned frame.
@maxicere: Love the colors and poses, very cosmic, very nicely done. @IcePrince_X: Nice choke hold, makes you wonder who will get the upper hand. Nice job, as always.

seems it's impossible to get the ladies out of the mind at any time :)
Thanks, yea I was excited to try SS again since last year cause I've learned a lot about applying textures since then, that original SS was actually the first I ever did in a contest here.

Really great posing and a very difficult one at that. Did you find references for that or just free style? It looks damn near perfect.
TMZ exclusive! Snapshot moment, these two where spotted at Spiffies Cafe on the outer borders of Tatooine, both settling their differences in a more civilized way. Riots ensued when the Surfer won and Thanos disagreed and began by throwing his chair at the Surfer, to ease the conflict the challenge was called a draw. Riots where caused by the bets placed on the two.
@DavidR: hehe, yea, much agreed, it's like when they take a serious actor and throw him into comedic roles. Like Leslie Nielson when he did Airplane.
I would love to see a short story where these two end up in the same cosmic bar and get buzzed up and goaded into this match. That would be a refreshing story to see in their continuity :)

Actually this is kinda of the idea behind it. The universe was fed up with all the destruction perpetuated by super beings and came up with an intergalactic law that all skirmishes where to be settled in a more civilized way, Rock, Paper, Scissors anyone? That was the other scenario I tried before settling on an arm wrestling match. : )

I wouldn't beat yourself up on the colors, one of the things I failed to mention before that also impressed the hell out of me was the shine and shading you pulled off on the silver and gold, Especially how you staggered the gold on Thanos. It gives off the shiny reflective feel it deserves but also separated his fists from his chest really well and leads to the focus on his head where it should go.
Overall, watching your work over the last year it's what you've done experimenting with coloring that's always impressed the hell out of me :)
(that and your ability to make ladies look delicious)

If I had Illustrator and my custom fonts on this computer, I could spiff up that lettering and word balloon to look like the real thing!
(Tonis: maybe I can sneak on the Big Mac when you-know-who isn't looking.)
I'd love to, but it won't happen anytime soon, since the computer that has all the good stuff on it is being used for very un-comic book related things right now.
But if you take away that word balloon of yours now and just continue working on the illustration, I promise I'll pop in my word balloon later. :-)

Tony and I were fooling around earlier on his new monthly contest thread. That's when I discovered I couldn't do any actual lettering tonight. This is what we came up with:
