John Freeman is a writer and editor who has worked for Marvel UK, Titan Magazines and ROK Comics on comics projects. He began his comics career editing a satirical comics zine in the UK in the 1980s and wrote "The Science Service" with Rian Hughes, a one-shot hardcover story published by Magic Strip, all of which brought him to the attention of John Tomlinson and Richard Starkings at Marvel UK.

Moving to London he worked as a designer then editor of Doctor Who Magazine, also writing strips for The Real Ghostbusters, Thundercats and Galaxy Rangers (and the occasional Doctor Who strip)

When Paul Neary became Managing Editor at the company he became Group Editor on several Marvel UK titles published for the US direct sales market including the top-selling Death's Head II, Warheads, Digitek and, later, Motormouth & Killpower - as well as editing UK titles such as Meltdown, Havoc and Overkill.

Going freelance in 1993, he wrote "Emperor of the Daleks" with Paul Cornell for Doctor Who Magazine, a six part story reviving Abslom Daak, co-wrote the four part "Shadow Riders" with Brian Williamson and wrote two other MUK mini series - "Gene Dogs" and "G-Force". In addition he wrote some strips for Judge Dredd: The Megazine.

In 1995 he became Managing Editor at Titan Magazines, helping to launch Star Trek Magazine, Star Wars Magazihne, the UK version of Simpsons, Babylon 5 magazine and many other licensed tie-ins.

For the last 20 years he has been the co-creator on the little known "Really Heavy Greatcoat" strip drawn by Nick Miller, which now appears in Comics International. He continues to write comic strip.

John is currently project manager for ROK Comic, a comics on mobile/cellphone product from ROK Media
