James Sturm is a comic book writer and artist, as well as the co-founder and director of the Center For Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, Vermont.
The majority of Sturm's works to date have been in the historical fiction genre; and America specifically.
Sturm's first three full-length stories, including the widely acclaimed "The Golem's Mighty Swing" are collected in a gorgeous hardcover book from Drawn & Quarterly called "James Sturm's America: God, Gold, and Golems".
"The Golem's Mighty Swing" was selected by Time Magazine as the best graphic novel of 2000.
After "The Golem's Mighty Swing", Sturm published his sole "mainstream" project to date, a Fantastic Four miniseries called "Unstable Molecules", that was illustrated by Guy Davis, and presents a very realistic fallacy that the characters are based upon real life people that the Marvel Bullpen once encountered. This series was also widely acclaimed, and won the Eisner award for best limited series.
His latest work is a graphic novel called "Market Day".
