Cobweb

Origin

Cobweb is an immortal demon of the Mindscape and has haunted the Mindscape since times immemorial, before recorded time. In doing so, he became the prime enemy to the valiant Sleepwalkers, a race of guardians for the Mindscape.

Creation

Cobweb was created by Bob Budiansky and Bret Blevins in 1991 and first appeared in Sleepwalker # 3.

Major Story Arcs

Enemy of the Sleepwalker

Cobweb was a menace to the Mindscape for many years, and had more recently encountered one of the strongest Sleepwalkers he had met. In trying to escape from this Sleepwalker, he entered the mind of a human from earth named Rick Sheridan. While Sleepwalker followed, Cobweb again left the mind, and trapped the Sleepwalker. This caused Sleepwalker to remain inside the mind of the young human man.

Not much was heard from Cobweb again until it was revealed that he had planned an invasion on earth, along with many of his demons, at that time looking like other Sleepwalkers. With the help of other heroes such as the Avengers, Sleepwalker managed to defeat Cobweb.

Some years later, Cobweb was seen again in a flashback when Rick Sheridan was contacted by the Fantastic Four to help against demons coming from Franklin Richards' dreams.

Powers & Abilities

His body does resemble a living web. He has enhanced human agility, reflexes, stamina and speed. He demonstrated superhuman strength, able to lift at least 10 tons. His body is elastic and malleable. He can elongate his body and limbs to an unknown degree. He has demonstrated an ability of creating duplicates of himself, though they remained connected to each other by web-threads.

Cobweb feeds on mental energy and the madness of others is the main source of his power. He is a master of illusion, leaving victims unable to distinguish between dreams and reality, truth and lies. Manipulating them towards madness. He can probe minds for information (memories, thoughts and images).

He has demonstrated an ability to physically enhance others or heal them from lethal wounds. Whether he uses illusions to exaggerate the extent of his abilities on these fields is unknown. He can uses technological means to teleport his minions.
