Captain Destiny was an actor on Earth who through mysterious circumstances became took possession of a space ship which he used to ply the Terran solar system. He became on unwitting player in a plot to stop the wedding of Jemm and Cha'rissa. He took Cha'rissa hostage and what he thought was Jemm, but who was really the Martian Manhunter in disguise. He later switched sides after realizing he had been played and aided the three heroes in stopping the Cabal.
Although he was portrayed as somewhat dim-witted at times, he was in actuality a competent captain, a capable hand-to-hand combatant and decent marksman.
