A student at the Xavier Institute, the young mutant known only as Basilisk grew up with much persecution due to his abnormal appearance, and as such developed a very aggressive personality. Having lower than average intelligence, Basilisk is quick to anger, but his rage is just as easily quelled.

On a camping trip with the special class, Basilisk was attacked by the U-Men, humans who hunt mutants for their organs. Basilisk saved the class from one of the U-Men, but only after Ernst told him that No-Girl, "a student who may or may not exist", would agree to date him.

Shortly afterwards, Xorn revealed himself to be the mutant terrorist Magneto, and Basilisk joined his Brotherhood. Unfortunately, during Magneto's assault against New York, he struck out at Basilisk, accidentally killing him.

    Powers

In his eye socket rests a camera-like device that allows Basilisk to control his superhuman mutant ability to emit a pulse of high-frequency strobe light directly from his brain. This light completely paralyzes any sentient being that looks at it, causing them to fall into a rigid fascinated state akin to a deer caught in the headlights of a car. The length of this effect varies depending upon the strength of will of whomever Basilisk stares at.

His mutation also gives him an overly-fleshy head that is devoid of features except for sunken ears, a slit-like mouth, and a single eye socket in the center
