Except for Teon, they all seem to have aged rapidly. Especially Idie and Laurie. Wasn't Idie 12 when she was found? I'm guessing Laurie was very close in age, around 14. Now, in Uncanny 539, they look as if they are 18-25. Did I miss something?

There is a lot to be said about this.

Transonic is 18, this was stated in the comic.

Zero is 19, as stated in a comic.

Primal is presumably under 18 since his parents fought to get custody of him from the X-Men.

Velocidad was 16 but when his powers activated he aged rapidly and now looks to be about 18.

While Oya was originally stated to be 12, this is said to be a misprint and is actually 14. This does have many fans upset because she is not frawn like a 14 year old 99% of the time. There is actually a forum addressing her age in detail.

Stupid artists/writers, like all they need to do is READ.

I think the issue is less about artists reading and more about their inability to appropriately convey age.

This image is supposed to show Hope as younger and a lot shorter than Namor, but Namor looks more elongated than he should to me.

I suppose it is easier for artists to draw older people.

I think they elongated the image to give the sense that Hope was smaller even though she looks average size.

They're the people who draw the characters themselves, how hard is it to portray a couple of teenagers ? yeah, go read some Runaways.

@AgeofHurricane: But again, it isn't about the artists READING. They know the age but it is more difficult to portray age. And I read Runaways.

And I can also read the character pages "Nico 5'4." That makes her an inch shorter than Magma from the new mutants, two inches shorter than Moonstar. Just because they are teenagers doesn't mean they have to be four feet tall.
