I don't mind them being broken up. I think there should have been better dialogue when Emma was getting all angry with him and told him it was over. I mean if that's one thing Emma's good for is her dialogue and Bendis kind of just ruined it and made the break up very mediocre. As for her not having telepathy anymore I don't think it's going to stick for that long. I mean they are finding Mutants before Rachel (while she uses Cerebra) and I doubt it's because they're such good investigators.

I have yet to get the issue today (will later) but based on what you are saying, just because she had a bad reaction doesn't mean she hates him now. She has every right to be pissed (sort of) but she could just be angry. Simple as that.

I don't quite understand when 3 is supposed to take place? How could it come after 1 when their powers weren't on the fritz then? Even Emma's? Also, wasn't Emma already broken out in 1? That would make this a prequel issue...but then there's the end...raggle fraggle...

I'm more concerned with Scott not even addressing Magneto murdering a guy in front of him. He can't be that far gone.

Saw the split coming from way off, not for any particular reason. It just seemed like the writers wanted it. Not happy about it though. She seems too irrational for her character

This whole not having powers or not working properly is BS. It has already been established in the Aftermath series that their powers are working, this is just Bendis trying to be cute and provide another source of conflict. As for Emma and Scott not being a couple anymore, again I think this is a case where a new writer wanting to change things up and of course, the first thing to go as always was the relationship. Anytime a couple in comics sees a new creative team shift there almost always seems to be an end to relationships so the new creative people can do what they want. If Bendis really wanted to do something different he could have tried to take a stab at making Emma more interesting while at the same time keeping Scott and Emma together.

Except for having psi-sex with Namor, during she’s under the PF’s influence, Emma has nenver cheated on Scott.

And not trying to blame anyone, right and wrong aside, I can buy that she's mad at Scott. That’s the huge eruption of her angst, insecurity and anger that accumulated long time; she probably prepared this outburst since she was attacked by Scott.

She understood that Scott was controlled by PF -- she even warned him in AvX that she was about to lose control. She even believed that "may be we do belong in prison" -- she knew what she had done and she knew what the PF's corruption is. She was just angry -- what would you expect to see when a woman first met her ex who attacked her before? IMO that’s more of her emotionally charged responses than rational reactions.

We’d better wait for their conversation when they both cool down, and since Emma and Scott are still in the same team they will definitely have that conversation.

I think it's best if we remember that Emma, despite being a strong and singular willed individual is still human. And thus needs to be written so. No one is perfectly rational constantly and after the abuse she's suffered and the betrayal of her most invaluable relationship, she's likely miffed. Remember she sacrificed a great deal for her love and faith in Cyclops. And though she cheated while under the influence of the PF she never went sofar as to attempt to steal Scott's half, instead she was willing to share it. And how many people take being choked by their lover well? It's a shame they're split but this is a hurdle they need to make and there needs to be consequences for how they treated each other. Also, the chance for character development is definitely worth the break-up.

@JohnnyGat: Agreed. Frenzy and Scott could be interesting, especially since Scott is becoming even more aggressive.

I'm really scared of the way Bendis is writing Emma...Any good writer would relish the chance to give Emma the bitchiest, wittiest, most sophiscated lines they could think of; Bendis would rather have her say "Thanks for the bust out fellas..."? Maybe it was a late night when he was writing her dialogue, I'll try and give him another chance, but I'm worried.

I dont have too much of a problem with the plot, even if i do love scott and emma together and im sad to see them break up, but its the dialogue! 'Fella's', "i'm thinkin'". It just doesnt fit the way i hear her voice in my head. if anything its more the way someone like rogue would talk or something

Karma is a bitch people and if Emma is written poorly over the next couples of years, good, she deserves it, she had it far to easy for too long..

I will have to agree with lorex here, messing with there powers is just stupid and instead of breaking them up, he should of work on there relationship. Breaking them up as soon as Jean grey comes back is just wierd. Bendis should of made more of effort on Emma, he should make her more interesting, although I like the way she spoke up to Cyclops.

I understand why Emma is upset with Scott, isn't it her own fault. She stood by him, for too long, she should of walk away ages ago. It's not as if she hasn't made any mistakes, she killed a man, made out with Namor and tied her own people up in chains. I think Cyclops should be angry with her too.

It didn't bring out any other aspects of her character when she lost it due to the psi wave. Honestly there don't seem to be any other aspects to her character, we've seen everything so far, she can be a bitch, a leader, a teacher that is passionate about her students, and even a sort of loving mother when he daughters were killed by the Phoenix. I think it was strange and out of character to even embrace the Phoenix and not fight it the entire AVX run considering how many times it has turned her life upside down from putting her in a coma, to using her up to killing her 1000 in one to, she swore to get her revenge and then willingly took it into herself when she had her next encounter.

Have I missed something? ‘cause her last appearance in ANX #3 told readers that she lost her TP. How do you know she’s not any different than normally? We need to wait to see what really happens. It’s even possible that she’s lying about her losing power.

As a ridiculously huge Emma fan, I don’t care about her powers that much. I love her TP and diamond form of course, but what attracts me is her character, not powers. Now there is a good opportunity to show other aspects of her that has never demonstrated before, I’m happy.

But well, whether or not Bendis handles that well is another thing. You know, Bendis.

I'm talking about when she lost her telepathy in Gen X due to the psi wave. My point is that she has already lost her telepathy and there wasn't some profound alteration to her personality, so why would this time be different. Just wouldn't make much sense for there to be something there to develop the second time around if nothing like that happened before.
