Intertribal Diplomacy
In this issue, we see Cutter use the same skill set as Mantricker once employed for the purposes of reintroducing Adar and Nonna to Adar's former village. Although his bond-brother Skywise still carries a great deal of animosity towards the hope of forgiving humans, he obeys his chief and hunts a deer to offer as a gift to Chief Olbar. Although the medicine woman called the Bone Woman launches an attack against Adar, Cutter appears to win a lasting friendship and peace with Olbar's people.
Cutter in Danger
Suntop has a strange feeling that whatever lay in the path of Skywise and his father Cutter Kinseeker is very bad, at Savah's concurrence, he convinces the Wolfriders to seek Cutter so he can give him the news he has seen in dream.
Mysterious Skull
The band gathers provision from Sun village and sets out to find their chief. When back at the sealed cave tunnel that the elves journeyed through in EQ #1, Leetah discovers an elf-skull that she believes is her friend, Rayek. It turns out in later episodes that this may be the skull of another rockshaper, Ekuar's brother.
Strongbow shoots a Great Hawk
The hungry band of wolfriders travels until desert gives way to plains, and so decided to break for water. While resting, Scouter notices a giant hawk, whose wing is 5 times taller than an elf's, in the sky, and Strongbow hunts it.
This turns out to be the pet-companion of one of the Chosen Eight (10 in elf-counting). Suntop tries to warn Strongbow, but it is too late: the Gliders return in order to avenge the loss of their hunting bird. Strongbow is captured, and so too Moonshade and Pike. These are all captured and brought to Blue Mountain where the Gliders live, but Leetah escapes with Ember and Suntop on a frightened Zwoot. The Mother and Twins ends up in the Forest of Endless Sleep, where the Pixies live and cover all the animals who wander through in a cocoon made of sticky wrapstuff.
Nightfall and Redlance manage to escape, but will not rendezvous with Cutter until EQ#10.
