The Elementals are still in a magical dimension helping Ambrose stop Demeter. Vortex locates Ratman and the two get in a tussle. Vortex knocks him out and starts to fly them back, when one of Demeter's guards catch them and shoots Vortex in the neck...both plummet to the ground and fail to return to the rest of their party.
Finally Ambrose and crew can wait no longer and with some rather unusual transportation (a huge tunneling slug), manage to storm Demeter's tower by surprise. The Elementals and guard fight Demeter's forces while Ambrose goes straight for Demeter. Demeter has the upper hand, but Ambrose pulls a trick spell on her and wins the day.
Meanwhile back home, Jeremy Skagg is once again contacted by an angelic being who insists that he use The Rapture to kill the Elementals. After Jeremy leaves...the true identity of the angel is revealed!
