Not nearly as brutal, as he's more balanced. Bruce tends to stand right on the edge of a cliff a lot of the time, and that's partially due to him operating in Gotham City and the things he's seen/been through. This leads to an overall darker personality and more violent approach to things.

Dick has always had a lighter heart than Bruce. He's more geared to knock people unconscious, whereas Bruce will break bones to "incapacitate".

@kgb725: Actually, they're probably fairly close in levels of brutality. It's usually in elseworld type stories (see Frank Miller) that Batman is all about breaking bones and hospitalizing criminals. The truth is, Bruce generally just goes for the incapacitation as well, even with the nastier villains like Joker and Two-Face if possible. Bruce refused to condone or work with Helena Bertinelli (Huntress) for years because she was too brutal. You also see Bruce berating Jason Todd all the time in flash backs for using excessive force.

So, they're about on a even keel when it comes to brutality. It doesn't serve either of their purposes to be severely injuring the bad guys. The worse these "vigilantes" hurt the criminals, the better the chances for the criminals to get out of their charges. This is mentioned all the time across all superhero books.

when i comes to interigating they are pretty close Dick is not afraid to use fear and scare tactics just like Bruce in almost everyway they are the same except Dick trust people and builds relationships with other heroes and he shows that he has a hart when Batman tries to hide that he has emotions.

Well dick did beat the Joker to the point that he was technically dead for a minute that one time. Then Batman did the dumbest thing ever and gave Joker CPR

The weird part of this question is how Nightwing, more than Batman, goes for the "harmless knock-out" but in reality there's no such thing. You are physically hitting a person hard enough to make them lose consciousness. That inherently comes with concussions, fractured skulls, and brain damage.

As previously mentioned, Batman's level of brutality varies with the writer (personally, I like the versions along the lines of The Dark Knight Returns where he tends to be rougher), but either way Nightwing, realistically speaking, doesn't exactly handle the bad guys with kiddie gloves.

Read Nightwing issue #149 by Pete Tomasi and bare witness as Dick lays a can of whoop ass on a room full of Batman rogues, stabbing their eyes out with his escrima, blasting them in the mouth with their own guns, drowning their heads in pools of blood. Keep in mind, this is only a hallucination.. or is it? As the effects of the fear gas wear off it's revealed to the reader there were never actually any villains present within the hotel, Nightwing had just annihilated a gang of Two Faces henchman in their place. Now sit down and think about what has just transpired... I mean reaaallly reflect on the actions he took. Holy crap.
