Diamond Diego San Esteban

Character History

Diamond Diego, named after the huge diamond he installed in his left eye socket, is a major drug kingpin in SCAUR (South America). Orion Assante is the leader of UNOW (North America and Australia). Assante wants to annex SCAUR without a direct invasion. Diego offers to help him.

He comes to visit Assante at Mt. Rushmore. He is smart, and wears a psychic disruptor helmet so that Orion's psychic aide, Manny, can't read his mind. He says that SCAUR's annexation is inevitable, and he might as well make it happen in such a way that he gets some power out of it. He is also interested in becoming a legitimate leader in addition to having his criminal power.

Orion and Manny visit Diego's home later on. Diego agrees to help topple the current government if Orion can stabilize things afterwards. Manny then uses his powers to psychically imprint all of Diego's drug holdings so that anyone who takes them will have with positive feelings about UNOW. They leave, agreeing to work together.

However, unknown to Diego, Manny was finally able to break past his psychic disruptor helmet with the help of the drugs. They now know that Diego plans to double-cross them.

Diego has the SCAUR president assassinated. A weak replacement is found, who destroys their economy, and asks for UNOW's help. Orion's army rolls in to create order, and eventually takes over without violence.

Orion sends assassins to take out Diego, but they find out that he was already dead. It turns out that the vampires, Pellon Cross and Zebra, visited Diego before Orion. They tried to get him to work with them. However, he kicked them out. Zebra and Cross hid in the jungle until Orion left, then snuck into his room and killed him violently as revenge.
