“A CLUE BEFORE DYING!” While attending a party thrown by Elliot Quinn, Batman must uncover who murdered the host.
Batman stars in a murder mystery, "A Clue Before Dying!" When a man is shot dead, Batman arrives at the scene to try and decipher which of the four witnesses is the murderer. Following the clues, Batman discovers one of the witnesses dead in a chair - apparently pointing to the carpet. Another name for a carpet is a rug and another use of the word rug can be wig. Therefore Batman deduces that the killer is the man wearing the wig - all thanks to a victim leaving a clue before dying.
Man Bat stars in "Scream of the Gargoyle" continued from last issue. As She-Bat, Fran Langstrom has been turned into a concrete gargoyle by the mystic powers of Doctor Thanatogenos and Man-Bat is about to suffer the same fate thanks to him being captured and the continuing toll of the mystic bell. Managing to free himself from his shackles, and also free Fran, Man-Bat and She-Bat overcome the evil Doctor and his animated gargoyles. The story ends with the Langstroms reflecting on whether Thanategenos was right and that somewhere deep within they do have mystic powers that they have not yet explored.
