I was talking to one of my friends about this yesterday and she said one of her friends came up with the most logical thing. DC originally made both Deathstroke and Deadpool and Marvel bought Deadpool. I have added on by saying that Slade and Wade are twin brothers with the same insanity problem and roughly the same healing factor. They're both mercs/assassins, both insane, both weapons masters (as noted before), both have a healing factor, and both have a color scheme. And everyone knows twins are a little different in some ways. Wade got a boost on his healing factor while Slade got a boost on his mental health (he's quite a bit more stable than Wade).

Yes, Deadpool is an incredibly fantastic and obvious jab at DC's Deathstroke, but it was only because Deathstroke was based off of Marvel's Taskmaster (not Cap as many have assumed).

Deathstroke came way earlier than deadpool. Deathstroke kills anyone in his way and is tactical genius. Deadpool is a annoying parody.

Deathstroke came 10 years earlier than deadpool as a generic copy of task master. deadpool was marvels "open ended" (literally marvel saying "here you go DC. this is what WE would have done if we were going to copy one of our characters) way of saying that two can play at the copy game. they made him a more interesting character (more of a marvel character). The fourth wall is his entire persona. hes basically slade but clinically insane as well as psycho instead of just psycho. If you read the death of deadpool it goes more into his serious side and he builds more as a character, and if you read deadpool kills the MU you'll learn more about his origins and and exactly what goes on in his head. (give you a hint. hes skitzo with 3 different personalities fighting for control ((Sort of like another well known marvel character)) though deadpool was insane before he gained his healing factor. the healing factor just made it so he couldnt suppress it with meds.) Point being he IS in fact a big part of the X-men universe as well as the marvel universe in its entirety. And if you wanna go almost too far hes part of DC as well. There are plenty of references to DC in deadpools comics, hes even invaded DC. If you want to go WAY too far. hes reading this comment while chomping on a chimichanga right now.

For those who do not think Deadpool is a ripoff of Deathstroke let me give you a few examples of the Character. Let's go with the obvious two color-scheme. Red, and Black Orange, and Black. (>_> For those Art-Nerd's how do we make Orange? RED, and Yellow.). Not let's go even-more to the obvious Weapon-Masters.... With a minimum of about 12 Weapons on them.... Both are Anti-Heroes (Meaning not god guys, not bad guys.) "Slade Wilson" "Wade Wilson" (SAY WADE, then SLADE a few times.). While yes Slade is more serious then Deadpool (But in-part because Marvel as a whole is a joke of a comic-book franchise) they both still have a healing ability which allows them to stay in the fight. Their only "Major" difference (Other then Deadpool's heling ability being a lot more EXTREME) is their insanity. Deadpool isn't.... Really Wade anymore... He's kind of just Deadpool now he's so insane that he break's the fourth wall.. Where Deathstroke's insanity more has too do with is little-regard for human-life. (Last major Connection is his Death, and Dead (Both having to deal with a permanent end.), and Stroke, and Pool. Stroke of a Knife, a Pool of Blood. All I'm going to say.) Btw Deathstroke is actually a really popular character in the DC world :) he just doesn't really have his own comic-book line.

Deathstroke and Taskmaster creation is too close to each other to consider it a real ripoff. Ripping off characters that aren't even a year old or that popular yet, seems pretty pointless. Then there is the fact that George Perez created both Deathroke and Taskmaster, so not really ripping off anyone but himself if anything, there was no "payback" about it. At best you may see some artistic similarities in some sketches, but thats the end of it. Deadpool on the otherhand is unmistakingly a parody of Deathstroke, as pointed out by his own creators. Leifield and Niceaza were actually fans of Teen Titans. It had jack to do with Marvel sticking it to DC.
