Earlier this week we heard about possible casting for Harley Quinn and maybe even Joker in the Summer 2016 Suicide Squad movie. Today, Variety has reported that Jai Courtney (Terminator: Genisys, Divergent) is in talks "for a major role" in the movie. Their sources tell them it's for Deadshot.

David Ayer (Fury) is writing and directing the movie. Variety also mentions Tom Hardy, Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto are in "various stages of discussions" for different roles. Hardy is said to be up for Rick Flag and speculation points towards Smith as Captain Boomerang.

Deadshot may not be a household name character but it would be hard to imagine a Suicide Squad movie without him. Warner Bros. declined to comment on the report.

I could definitely see him pulling it off, hope they give him Floyd's facial hair.

Glad to hear casting news about a veteran Squad member. I don't know this actor but I hope he's a smoker who can grow a decent mustache.

He was the only good part about the last Die Hard movie (not that that is saying much,...), but I don't see anyone including me banging the table for him.

All for letting younger/newer talent get shots though so, go for it (pun intended).

Frankly, given how amazing Ayer handled his cast of actors in Fury they could cast anyone and its not gonna matter.

Me too. One of the all time great team books. They've only released one trade of the original series. I'm missing maybe a dozen issues, other than that I've read all John Ostrander's Squad stuff. The annual, the Doom Patrol/SS special, the Deadshot mini, the 2007 mini, the Blackest Night Secret Six/Suicide Squad crossover. I also just finished Copra: Round One, which is basically Michael Fiffe's tribute to Ostrander, Yale and McDonnell's work on Suicide Squad. I'm a huge Suicide Squad fan.

5 wasn't bad. 4 was worse, justin long/Kevin smith, the cliches like "Old guy behind times with spunky teenage computer wizz", The fact that they had to make a whole movie about computer take overs to bring an old action series into the 21 century. The needlessly over the topness, etc. 5 had a lot less cringe worthy moments.

Jai Courtney is more the actor I expect in a SS film. That said, I loved him in Spartacus but man I really hope the script is good. IF not this movie is totally dead.

Jai Courtney must have blackmail material on somebody. I've never seen somebody so plain and uninteresting get so many good parts without having to even bother proving themselves. He's already been John Mcclain Jr. and helped kill that franchise for good. Then he became the iconic Kyle Reese and now Deadshot?

Why??? Jai Courtney has the same acting skills of Sam Worthington which isn't saying much. If Neal McDonough worked out his body then he should reprise his role as deadshot

He seems like a strong pick. I think Jon Hamm is my favorite choice for the role however. But we all know the 70's porno stache will be doing most of the acting anyway.
