    so Deadpool has had a lot of women in his life Siryn, Death, Copycat, Domino, and Blind Al to name a few.
    but there seems to have always been one woman even he couldn't get.
    no matter how much he talked about her or praised her.
    he could never achieve that goal.
     
    so my question is who created Deadpool's Bea Arthur obsession and why did they choose her (aside from the obvious, "cuz she's that awesome") instead of one of the other Golden Girls or some other actress?

    The earliest issue I can remember his obsession for Bea Arthur is from Cable and Deadpool #1. I'm pretty sure it was written by Fabian Nicieza. As for why...I don't know.

    Yup, as far as i can remember it started with Cable & Deadpool, just as a running gag. 
    I also remember him saying some random things about the Olsen twins as a minor running gag.

    That could be purely a means of deception, If you were at the helm of an Omega Confederation Battlecruiser (or whatever they're called) and a ship named the "Bea Arthur" appeared on your sensors would you be scared? I would hope you aren't afraid of old ladies... 
     
    You have to remember Deadpool is not an idiot, he just bonkers.

    I think the joke is that Bea Arthur is quite the "handsome" woman, if you know what I mean. They also asked for a nude picture of her in the ransom demands in Airheads.

    Either way, Bea Arthur does rule and she was funny as hell. That's why I like her and that's why Deadpool probably likes her too.

    He seems to not only like the ridiculously beautiful women out there, he seems to have a thing for all types of woman.

    He also has a crush on Big Bertha, don't forget that! :)

    His Obsession with Bea Arthur just makes him more awesome!
