    Deadpool NOW! #1

    The Good:

Deadpool is an awesome character. The Merc with a Mouth is funny, he kicks butt, and he's totally regenerative and undefeatable while doing it. The fans of the Marvel Universe tend to fall madly in love with him. No one can quite cut their way out of a giant green monster's stomach in just the same way as he can. It's good to see him with his regen. back. And, I'm glad he's retained his own series (instead of being only in the new BA T-Bolts title).

The first page of the book really pulled me in. And, the art was exactly what they needed for the story.

I also enjoyed Wade's introduction being at a point where he is ripping himself out of a monster's belly with Thor.

    The Bad:

Undead presidents. I predicted they wouldn't work, and they just don't. The opening page of the book promises a decent plot. It seems like someone's trying to fix America by reanimating her lost presidents. This would have been great if the presidents retained their humanity. But, they're just too undead. Instead of trying to fix America by talking/being who they used to be (successful at improving the country), they have become nearly mindless killing machines (if you're into that definitely get this book). At least, I would have liked to have seen them as both dangerous killing monsters and thoughtful/thought-provoking men. Although the few lines each president gets are relevant to their past lives, they aren't expounded on and come off pretty cheesy.

I probably could have handled seeing past the Undead presidents. Yet, all Deadpool got were (also cheesy) one-liners. I know he usually doesn't say much, so I shouldn't have expected more. But, his lack of good dialogue is usually off-set by his inner voices (the yellow/white boxes that tell him what to do). This book was too quiet. The voices weren't there. And, if they were there, we just couldn't hear them. We weren't let into the hooligan's mind. I felt like they killed Robin (Or, split up Peter Parker and MJ... both of which have happened. So, it's feasible ) by dismissing the boxes. They are one of DP's biggest character traits and allies.

    The Results:

You might like it. But, I'm picky. I think my biggest mistake was getting my hopes up too high for a new DP series (finally getting his regen. back!!)

Don't let this stop you from picking it up.

Perhaps Wade just hasn't taken over the writer's minds yet.

I'd be glad to hear what you have to say about the book!!!

Spoilers!!!I picked up this issue because of the review. I've never been the biggest Deadpool fan but after reading the reviews for this I decided to pick it up. I probably won't have enough money for the whole series but I may stay around for the first story arc. Note: I will style this review differently to most of my reviews.PlotDead Presidents are being brought back to life by a Necromancer who believes that America needs them again. Captain America tries to stop this, but Harry S Truman is ...

I have been a Deadpool fan for a number of years now and when I heard about it getting a new series I had mixed feelings. This is because overall I actually liked Daniel Way's series and although it ended a bit poorly it was a very good series. Also I didn't know anything about Brian Posehn or Gerry Duggan prior to this series. The addition to this new series that I was excited to see was Tony Moore as I have loved his art over the years whether it be the early issues of The Walking Dead or his ...
