    I am no so much of a fan of occult based stories so I quite willingly took a pass on the first story arc here which involved Deadman, but I have a sort of nostalgic sympathy for the adventure comics of the 1960s and what with the DC reboot having done some surprising things thus far, I was curious what they might pull off with the Challengers of the Unknown.  I am kind of familiar with their stories, even when I have't read many of them, but even with my eagerness and previous exposure, I am not...

    That cover... is really hard to live up to. This cover gave me so much excitement for this arc, even though I knew it couldn't live up to those expectations. And it sadly doesn't. But those WERE some high expectations, I mean look at how fantastic that cover is. The colors are very light and weak, giving you the feel of the snow and the thin atmosphere that high up.     Not So Challenging . . . 0

    The Challengers of the Unknown are an old mainstay at DC Comics. The only real exposures I’ve had to them are throwbacks, mentions in other stories, and their cameo in Darwyn Cooke’s The New Frontier. But I’ve never actually sat down and read a Challengers story myself. After this brief encounter I’m not sure I’m going to continue.
