As confirmed from Bleeding Cool News, Geoff Johns is now President as well as Chief Creative Officer of DC Entertainment. He is well known in the film industry for his works on many DC animated movies, the Green Lantern movie, Smallville, CW series The Flash & Arrow as well as being noticed to have helped out Zack Snyder with Batman vs Superman and the upcoming Justice League. He has also help co-write the main character Arthur Curry in the new Aquaman movie for director James Wan and also has screenplay credit for the Wonder Woman movie set to be released in 2017. Johns is now talking about making a Batman reboot alongside Ben Affleck, of course playing the role as Bruce Wayne. Just want to take the time to congratulate Geoff Johns on his promotion. Can't wait for what he has in store for us and DC Entertainment in the future!

Johns is really great and these are good news but I don't think he should play Bruce Wayne.

The only bad thing about this news is that it's even more doubtful to see him write a book again anytime soon.

Congratulations Mr. Johns. I'm really happy about this.

I noticed that grammatical quirk too. Nicely played.

As for the news, I think over all this is very good for DC because Johns 'gets' it when it comes to stories and ideas. Although it probably means he won't be writing any/many comic books. I'd much rather have him write some ongoing books that I can spend hours with than having maybe a little bit of influence on a two hour movie every six months...

While I'm happy for what this means to the live action treatment of DC's property, like everyone else I'm very disappointed that this will mean he either write a little bit here and there, or he'll be so busy that he won't write any comics for some time.

@ultimatepower6: True, but DC Entertainment was going very bad lately. I hope to see more DC showcase, more DC Nation shorts, more beware the Batman, more Young Justice, some Vertigo animated movies (Sandman, Hellblazer, Swamp thing, ...).

@jb681131: You think Johns will promote the animated sector? As much as I want Young Justice to come back, and Beware the Batman, I don't see that happening. Just helping out on the live action films takes a lot out of someone, and while I can see the shorts and showcase possibly making a comeback I don't see much hope in the animated realm besides what we've been getting. One Justice League animated film, One Batman film, and One "Elseworld" film. That's what they're doing, and that's what's bringing in the money.

Johns won't be writing as much which goes in the con column, but he'll be overseeing which is just as important.

If he sees something going off the rails when it's not supposed to he has the power to nudge it back into the right direction.

    Congrats man.

This is great news and I'm happy for him. The fact that this means he probably won't be writing comics anymore is saddening to me tho.

I agree 100% with you guys and been thinking a lot about it too. I really love Geoff Johns' as a writer and read his whole entire Green Lanterns run as well as all his runs in New 52 (Aquaman, Justice League, Justice League of America, etc). After the what he did in DC Universe: Rebirth and what Johns has done with the comics recently (Rebirth), he definitely left with a bang.

As far as the Entertainment side of things for DC Comics goes I think Johns will be doing a lot of good stuff for not only the films but animated series as well. He's definitely gonna make it enjoyable for not only us that grew up watching these animated series/films as a kid but those who are the next generation of comic book readers as well. No doubt he'll be working on something for the young viewers in the future. Maybe bringing Young Justice back, could be a possibility?!

The new star of DC comics is Robert Venditti. Get on board. He makes up quite a bit for the loss of Geoff Johns.

Can't say I feel the same way, his Green Lantern run is incredibly underwhelming and undermines much of what made Johns' Green Lantern run so critically acclaimed and popular amongst the fans. I hear his stint on Demon Knights was good and his XO Manowar and Valiant work is supposed to be really interesting.

@lvenger: Really? I just love his work on Green Lantern. For me it's some of my favourite DC writing. The pacing, development and humour (he is one of the few writers who can actually make me laugh out loud rather than cringe) are exceptional. He's a true master of dialogue and good sense in my opinion - two elements fundamental for me to enjoy a comic.

The New 52 arc where the GL corps battles Relic, and where Rayner as the White Lantern sacrifices himself at the edge of the universe, was spine tingling.

@rainshadow777: I don't know, it's his retcon of the emotional spectrum into being some finite pool of energy from the Source Wall and what he did with Sinestro in Hal Jordan and The Green Lanterns #1 practically ruined Cullen Bunn's entire Sinestro run. Also Relic is literally a Galactus rip off without the planet eating hunger, the similarities are really striking.

@lvenger: Just out of interest, are you going to push on with Hal Jordan and the GL Corps? Is your blue aspect of the emotional spectrum going to overrule your red, as it were?

@rainshadow777: No I'm afraid the raging red of the spectrum is pushing me further away from the blue optimism of the spectrum :P

Honestly I'm more apathetic now towards Venditti's GL than anything else.
