    Civil War

    Story arc »

    Following a catastrophic tragedy caused by superhumans, the US Government passes a Super-Human Registration Act that requires all super-powered individuals in the country to reveal their identities, disclose their powers and personal details, and register as government employees or risk indefinite incarceration. This causes a deep rift in the hero community, with some backing the Act while others oppose it.

    I just reread Marvel's civil war after a while and realized it wasn't nearly as good this time around. i mean i LOVED it the first time but now it feels like nothing really happened, i mean that one Goliath died (who i didn't even know existed) and Cap died but soon came right back. i mean nothing substantial happened, all of the people who were enemies during the time became friends again (heck Steve and Tony are even literally on the same team again) and the only OTHER big event, Spider-man's secret being revealed was later rewritten, i'm just wondering if anyone else has a opinion on civil war, was it needed? did it accomplish anything? love it? hate it? tell me!

    i liked it and your right nothing really stuck . not that i wouldve been happy with it , but if cap stayed dead it would have made more of an impact on future avenger teams . spider - man that whole mess is marvels i cant justify that lol . they did amke it seem like bygones be bygones , but i wouldnt mind if some characters still held onto their beliefs or still held a grudge . like goliaths death wish someone
    would still be upset at reed , pym , or tony for creating the cyborg thor .or spider-man switching sides they could have pym be wary of working with him (saying for arguments sake )  the only thing if you really payed attention was bishops descent
    into becoming more and more of a antagonist . was pro reg then the whole messiah complex /war thing

    This guy pretty much nailed it. I agree completely with what he said except for the Spiderman part only cause I supported the Pro-Registration. One thing that really pissed me  off was the woman who lost her son in Stamford and was stalking Tony Stark, she went to Bill Foster's funeral disrepected the man in front of his friends and family , noone said anything. No escort off the ground, no slap in the face, nothing. I felt that was not right right. Kill off a black guy and then disrespect him at his funeral. Marvel is going to hell.

    I haven't read all the civil tie-ins like the Runaways/Young Avenegers cause I hate the runways. Peter parker?civil War was kind of useless but Amazing Spiderman was not bad, Black Panther was just lovely, Thunderbolts sucked, Iron man was good, New Avengers was good, Civil FrontLine was so-so, Fantastic Four rocked,  Wolverine was so-so, X-men was not bad, Xmen universe to me didnt make sense how it tied in,

    but overall it is one my favorite marvel story arc.

    As much as I'd like to see my favorite Marvel heroes play fisticuffs with one another, Having them fight with the intention of permanently putting down their former friends (if necessary) is another.

    On another note, The Civil War would've been quite an impact if marvel hadn't gone ahead and done away with certain outcomes through other events (Ex. Steve Rogers coming back to life).

    It had some good suprising moments and was written really well most of the time. I dont think it was great, but it was good. I too am disappointed with the aftermath. Marvel needs to let things stick for a while before changing them back. Like two years at the least. That way, its suprising when the change back happens. Like Loki JUST died. Hes back now. :/
    Give it a month. Nightcrawler and Johnny Storm will be back too.

    @The Stegman:
    You're right; the repercussions should have been permanent or at least quite long-lasting.  Instead everything seems to be forgotten.

    This lessens the story arc's impact and importance while making it nearly irrelevant.  It's too bad, really, because I (despite Cap's side losing) liked it.
