    Aftermath.

After the results of the attack on The Collector in the last issue, everyone deals with the results of that choice.

The word is, YOU BETTER RUN JOHN!
The word is, YOU BETTER RUN JOHN!

With Savoy, John, Caesar, Olive, Vorhees, and Applebee having attacked The Collector against Tony's wishes, the team suffers serious injuries while creating serious tension between other characters. (e.g. Tony and John.) This issue is a great follow up to the last because it finishes what issue 44 started. No teasing to future issues nor focusing on other characters that aren't even related to the current crisis, instead writer John Layman just goes from the last issue to this issue setting up the stage to what is to come! Which is the best move that should be made at this time!

The issue opens up with Paneer, of N.A.S.A., keeping his promise to his deceased wife, Toni Chu, which was to keep an eye out on Toni's brother (Tony). Thankfully, a watchful Paneer was able to save Savoy, John, Caesar, Olive, Vorhees, and Applebee just in time before the Collector could finish them off. Layman did a really outstanding job on this portion of the comic because he showed how the agents got out of the Collector's house alive and in some pieces. Though it was just him keeping his promise to Toni, it worked really well and showed a nicely crafted before, present, and after of how Paneer got involved in the situation.

Another great element of this story was the friendship between Tony and John. They've been through everything together, however after involving Olive in the attempted Collector assassination and working with Savoy, it definitely has broken this once great friendship. Because we, readers at least, know that Tony knows how to take down the Collector once and for all. (He learned it from eating a piece of his sister.) However, what we don't know is if he's told anyone, and from what has transpired all those issues ago, that is more than likely the truth. Why? Only John Layman and Tony Chu know, but it is safe to assume that whatever John and Savoy [and company] do, it'll never be enough to stop the Collector. Hopefully when the Tony vs. Collector showdown actually happens, Layman won't make it seem like what Savoy, John, etc. have been doing has actually made a difference when really Tony has done all the work. Or, where it makes it seem like Tony misinterpreted his sister's instructions on how to kill the Collector. The expected outcome is that Tony should take down the Collector and Savoy and John realize that they had no idea what all was going on. However, one can only hope!

Rob Guilory's artwork is the equivalent of a 5-star restaurant! (As you should already know by now!)

In conclusion, the ending of this issue was unexpected, but it definitely does a good job at drawing you into the next one. 5 out of 5.
