CHEW 2
Tony Chu is on his first mission as an F.D.A. agent!
The Good
John Layman and Rob Guillory have done it again! After establishing [last issue] the character, Tony Chu, and a world where chicken is outlawed and people with food abilities run around; this second issue certainly does a good job at establishing Chu in the world as an F.D.A. agent! This is another definitive issue for the character and series!
John Layman did an outstanding job on this issue's story! He really did a good job at showing off more of Tony Chu's abilities as a agent, and a dude with a weird superpower. His revolt when having to eat human finger; and unease with adjusting into this line of work as an F.D.A. agent, is really exciting to see and makes the character feel more human. (Or relate to the reader more.) Layman so far hasn't shown off what he'll be doing later down the road, however the long time readers know where this story leads to. But, for those that are brand new to the series, this gives them a chance to see Tony Chu in the beginning stages of his career as an F.D.A. agent and a Cibopath. So it is interesting to see the early relationships he establishes with the characters, and eventually how they will aid, or hinder, him in the near [and far] future! So, it is really cool on John Layman's part to be focusing on that in the early stages of this series, and making sure us readers know that, it is the foundation of the ENTIRE series!
The artwork of Rob Guillory is great, as always, as he makes John Layman's story look really disturbing. The colors, inks, and style all contribute to telling the story and showing how screwed up this world is! Great job Rob!
The Bad
No complaints.
The Verdict
5 out of 5, I've given you enough reason to check this series out!
