The War at Time's End last edited by pikahyper on 04/25/19 10:58PM View full history

“THE WAR AT TIME’S END.” In the present, Prof is wheelchair-bound in Challengers Mountain, where he is attacked by a mutant lizard from the future. Future-boxes keep releasing monsters around the world, and Red (who quit) battles some in the streets. In the future, Rocky, Ace, June, Swamp Thing and Deadman find Rip Hunter (and his crew) are brainwashed pawns of the despotic Sunset Lords. After a fight, they’re overwhelmed and captured, but Deadman, sneaking around in a borrowed body, meets Lucas Lawspeaker and his rebels.

Monsters from the future are appearing in Challenger Mountain, and Prof Haley is doing his best to fight them off single-handedly, despite recovering from injury.

Similarly, in Metropolis, Red Ryan, who quit the team, is himself fighting a future-monster on his own.

The rest of the Challengers have traveled to the distant future, where they are attacked and imprisoned by Rip Hunter and and the Sunset Lords he serves.

With Deadman the only one free to act, can the Sunset Lords be stopped?

Time travel stories - especially ones dealing with the future - are really hard to get right. By setting this story so far in the future - 12 million years in the future, it sidesteps some problems but creates others.   We could go into great length about continuity in the D.C. Universe, changing the future paradoxes or whether we would even recognize humans that far in the future as, well, human. So O.K., I'll suspend disbelief even further than normal for comic stories taking place in a settin...
