Nathaniel Adam was coerced into an experiment which bonded alien metal to his skin and sent him 18 years into the future, giving birth to Captain Atom, a superhero fueled by the Quantum Field.
He certainly didn't appear to have aged at all during Kingdom Come. However, all radioactive elements do have a half-life. Its possible that he's just very long lived.

Kingdom Come isn't canon. Different version of Captain Atom.
In Countdown, he was apparently killed Superman Prime when was Monarch. He resurfaced in Action Comics. Captain Atom can't be completely killed because of his connection to the Quantum Field. The same is said for Major Force, who's been killed left and right and has resurfaced every time after he's killed.
Actually, Kingdom Come wasn't canon. It was so bad-ass Dc Comics decided to forge Kingdom Come into their own Multiverse. Becoming Earth 22. So yes, Captain Atom doesn't age. And from above is technically immortal.
