I loved Cap under Brubaker but I haven't really paid much attention to him since he left and I never did jump on to his Marvel NOW relaunch because I'm not a fan of JRJR but since he's been off the book for a while now I was wondering, how is it?
Captain America
Character » Captain America appears in 11752 issues.
During World War II, Steve Rogers volunteered to receive the experimental Super-Soldier Serum. Enhanced to the pinnacle of human physical potential and armed with an unbreakable shield, he became Captain America. After a failed mission left him encased in ice for decades, he was found and revived by the Avengers, later joining their ranks and eventually becoming the team's leader.
How Is His Current Ongoing?
@tg1982: What kind of sci fi is it? I don't see many people talking about it on here.
Well without giving away to many spoilers...He was in another dimension created and ruled by Arnim Zola, full of crazy Zola created monsters (Which was a really great arc (I know you're not a fan of JRJr. but I think it's some of his best work (I'm a JRJr. fan though so...) but if you can get past that, then you'd probably like the story, if you're a fan of sci-fi).
The current arc has him facing off against Dr. Mindbubble, a 60's era hippie scientist who was given an LSD/SSS mix (I'm unsure if it's the same SSS that was given to Cap mixed with LSD, or a something like the SSS mixed with LSD), who can apparently create bubbles to trap people with his mind...thus the name.
@tg1982: so it's like a pulpy sci-fi? I can dig that.
Yeah kinda Kirby-esque, only a little darker. But overall I think Remender is doing a terrific job, the only negative (And it's a extremely small negative at that) and it's by no means Remender's fault, is the apparent fact, that Marvel can't seem to get a steady artist on the title with Remender, but hopefuly that will change with Nic Klein jumping on board, his art is, IMO, fantastic.

hard to explain w/o spoilers.
It doesn't hold a candle to Ed's stuff though, if that's what you've read.
It's Remander we're talking about here. A lot of his work involves needlessly reinventing the character or stripping him of core characters and themes that are intrinsic to the appeal of the character. Thus far, his attempts at a sci fi pulp Cap series haven't been to my personal tastes at all. When I do get round to some Cap reading, I'll focus on the Brubaker stuff over anything Remander has done.
@fallschirmjager: Well I'm a total Brubaker fanboy so nothing compares to him anyway lol
@cheesesticks: Really that bad?

If you like Brubaker Cap, i'd say keep your money.
I was a big fan of Ed Brubaker's run on Cap so after his departure and the arrival of Remender I was really disappointed.Basically the series has been a pretty big mixed bag for me.Sometimes it works,sometimes it doesn't but the good thing at least is that the book has some pretty solid artists for now.If you like sci-fi stories then you might like it but you should know that Remender's run is nothing like Brubaker's run.
@theacidskull: oh well, I guess this is the reason hardly anybody is talking about it.
