    Captain America

Character » Captain America appears in 11750 issues.

During World War II, Steve Rogers volunteered to receive the experimental Super-Soldier Serum. I mean anyone thinks CA is similar to Batman in some ways? i mean they did fought in DC vs. Marvel and became friends in Captain America/ Batman and JLA/Avengers.

Compare their combat skills, weapons, RedSkull to Joker, Bucky to Robin and all that. But we know JLA/Avengers are the same team.

Cap isn't Marvel's Batman, there are many who have far more in common. For instance there are times when Cap will actually admit that he may be wrong before a problem gets out of hand (AVX Excluded)

Cap has more in common with Superman than he does with Batman. T'Challa, Daredevil, or Iron Man would be more like Batman.

Batman and Cap share some common ground, but who you pick as Marvel's closest equivalent to Batman depends on what aspects of Batman's character you focus on. I would lean toward Black Panther as the most similar Marvel character, but opinions vary.

i would say spider-man both had tragedy happen to them when they where young, both have arch Nemesis' that wear purple n green and are known for laughing maniacally and being crazy and an assortment of extended family(nightwing, robins, batgirls) (ben reily , kaine, jessica drew, julia carpenter, arana, spider-girl, venom carnage etc, and soon to be alpha )

both have important elderly people in their life taking place of mother/father figure and both have multiple titles solo and team books , both had movies series with reboots and both have their own self-named mobiles , though batmobile cooler lol

@Knight_Justice: There are literally hundreds of characters that fit the rich, gadget using, crime fighters description. Moon Knight may be cosmetically similar to Batman but they have completely different motivations and personalities. Not to mention Moon Knight will kill people

I say Black Panther, Moon Knight, Dare Devil(in some ways), and Iron Man( has some similiarities also). But I think Marvel should make the Falcon more like a Bat Man character especially with Falcon being added to Avengers 2. He showed some similiarities in Character when he starred in the "Captain America and the Falcon" series especially when Scarlet Witch was playing with their minds. But Captain America is definitely his own character.

I feel that Cap and Batman have quite a number of similarities: body's at mental and physical peak, master martial artists, unique trademark crime fighting tool (Utility Belt and Cap's Shields), playful kid sidekicks who grow up to be badasses and later took on their mentor's superhero identity after death (Robin/Nightwing, Bucky/Winter Soldier) , totally crazy disfigured villains (The Joker, Red Skull), specialized vehicles (Batmobile, Bat-bikes Batwing, Cap's Motorcycle, Cap's Van, Skycycles, and Quinjets), but at the end of the day their personaliies are radically different.

I see your points especially with sidekicks statements. They're different but the same in some ways. But after watching Batman fight that Owl gang of vigilanties I think and dare I say this but the Falcon should be the next Cap sidekick to go dark bad ass like one of those Owls Batmam fought. Just saying

Cap is like Batman only physically, but not a genius like Batman in the field of science and strategy, nor has the technology and the money of Bruce. Batman is physically as Cap and intellectually and economically as Tony Stark aka Iron Man.

While they're similar in many ways, they're also very different in a few key areas. I'd argue most notably that their politics are diametrically opposed. Batman is the conservative ideal while Captain America is a New Deal democrat.

@joshmightbe: Bruce Wayne and Tony Stark are strikingly similar.

Batman and Cap? not too much.

Batman and Iron Man? maybe a little closer

Batman is a pretty individualized character.

Exactly there's no sole Batman in Marvel.

Moon Knight is a silent protector type, and he is a tad out of place with the Avengers and is rather quiet yet cool.

Black Panther has the dark clothes, fighting skill, and the tech. But not a vigilante, he's a king and usually takes on big fish.

Daredevil and Punisher both seem to protect the city at night due to bad memories of the past and growing up in the rough parts of town. Fighting crime is there vengeance.

Captain America, not even close, he's deffidently Superman if he dosen't fly around and shoot heat vision, he has his personality (except as a plot device in certain story arcs).
