Callum Israel was born in Bangladesh in 1966.
On New Year's Day in 1995, he was a specialist for Blackbell PMC a multinational security contractor which had been tasked with handling a group of environmental activists who had commandeered an oil drilling platform off the coast of Norway.
During the raid, an unprecedented series of "rogue waves" smashed into the oil platform. Callum states that he lost count at seven "rogue waves". He is thought to be the only survivor.
This event led Israel to reconsider his association with Blackbell PMC and for six years he has sought the activist organization which had taken over the oil rig.
