The once-mysterious Cable (a.k.a. Nathan Summers) is Cyclops' time-traveling son who was infected with the deadly techno-organic virus during his infancy, which he keeps at bay using his advanced psionic powers. At one time a founding member and leader of the militant team called X-Force, previously known as the New Mutants, Cable takes the aimless youths under his wing and whips them into fighting shape in order to prepare them for future threats.

@Pulsar: I don't own the goddamn comic book and everytime i read the web for Cables origin, I get confused. im not stupid, but i've heard of 6 different Cable origins (not counting Ultimate), and not a single one makes sense! people say put cable in the Deadpool movie, but it would take 3 hours to explain it and the audience will go WTF.

Assuming you mean his glowing eye, it is a power signature, as seen in many powerful mutants, including Vulcan, Exodus, Magneto, and others.
His arm is a result of the techno-organic virus Apocalypse infected him with as a child.
He was raised in the future by Scott and Jean after being taken to the future by Mother Askani (Rachel Summers), who also took Scott and Jean's minds and put them in future versions of themselves.
He was not born in the future. He was born in the past, and was sent/taken to the future in order to survive the TO virus Apocalypse infected him with.
You want confusing, try figuring out Psylocke/Revanche or even better M/M-Twins/Penance.
Basically for Cable: Scott and clone of Jean had a child, Nathan. Nathan was infected with the T-O virus and was taken to the future by Askani to save his life. Scott and Jean went to the future, because of Askani and helped raise him. He ends up coming back to his own time, he was born in 616, now stated because he had to protect Hope. Everything else is filler really.
here's one of his more recent Handbook entries. not four sentences but it sums up a good chunk about him without being a novel.

Tom Broovert wrote her last Handbook entry and even he said it makes close to no sense. lmao. thats been retconned so many times its like she never existed, or if she did it was in an alternate universe. just as bad as actually trying to figure out the true nature of Daredevils powers.
Four new Questions... 1. how did Apoc. get his hands on Cable 2. why did Apoc. give him the virus 3. why is it that everyone has got time portals or future pixie dust that allows them to go to the future then come back 4. who the hell is Askani(rachel summers), another Summers child who lives in the future and makes no sense at all
No plot? The plot doesn't seem that great to begin with. How come she doesn't use her """""TIME PORTALS""""" to go back 5000 years, while Apocalypse was a baby without powers, and kill him?

Because if she did that, it could f**k up the whole timeline and create something disastrous. Like when Legion went back to try and kill Magneto, but ended up killing Xavier and created the Age of Apocalypse. You don't mess around with time travel .
