Bruno Di Sano, born October 14, 1951 in Saint-Nicolas, in the province of Liège, comic book author, graphic designer and illustrator. As the journalist Jean Jour wrote in 1976 “artist by vocation and auto mechanic by necessity” indeed, he had to row hard and sometimes against the tide, to be able to draw all day and make a job out of it. At the age of five or six, when, unconsciously, he begins to scribble little "Mickeys" on scraps of paper, napkins or tablecloths, to the great displeasure of his mother! He loves telling himself stories (he doesn't have TV yet, or even the radio). Then, one day, he discovers comics, leafing through a "fumetti", a comic in Italian format during his vacation in his parents' Sicily. At the age of 8, it was an extraordinary discovery for him, not only for its graphic quality, but above all because it looked a lot like cinema in pictures! Once back from vacation he goes hunting in the local booksellers in Liège to find these famous “Italian” comics, which he cannot find at the moment! On the other hand, he makes another even more extraordinary discovery on the shelves: the existence of Tintin and Spirou magazines! And then it was love at first sight! He is self-taught as far as comics are concerned, but he takes drawing lessons by correspondence for a few months because it is too expensive and two years at the Liège academy in evening classes, the time to obtain a certificate. Then he also did a year at Saint-Luc (still in Liège) in evening classes in the advertising section. At the same time, he must study car mechanics and thus satisfy his parents about his "food" future. He admits to appreciating all the authors of the Franco-Belgian school, but especially at his beginnings: Hergé, Uderzo, Franquin, Jacques Martin, Herman. And more recently authors close to him: Walthéry, Laudec, Van Lithout, Desorgher, Batem, Vink. He devotes his free timeduring which he plays the guitar, paints and reads a good book.
