Good after event issue. Forgot to mention a good part when St. Walker was over the tombstone talking to the souls of people.
Brightest Day
Once dead, 12 heroes and villains were resurrected by a white light expelled deep from within the center of the Earth. Deemed a miracle by many and a sign of the apocalypse by others, the reasons behind their rebirths remain a mystery. But it will not be a mystery for long.
Unscripted: Green Lantern #53

I think they did the right thing with this issue. They are trying to solve everything with the lanterns and how else are they to do that without having an issue like this?
Lordy, Norm owns that topic of Green Lantern. He's about as well versed on this topic as Babs is on Batman.
That Luthor face is a bit too dramatic. He looks like a child who was just told his mother was cooking his favorite meal for dinner. I wonder if the Orange Lanterns saw potential in him during his time with the power. Much in the way the Star Sapphires look toward Carol Ferris.
This covers one of the issues I have about naming the title of a comic after your main protagonist. If for whatever reason you make an issue that doesn't directly relate to what that person is doing. It makes it feel off.
I really like the Unscripted on Comic Vine much more then the ones on Anime Vice. Here they are pretty much just off the cuff reviews. There they have more become soap box issues that are neither reviews or "unscripted". Which is valid to do. I'm just unsettled how the format originally designed for reviews of products is being used for more social commentary.
Agreed with Crymsun and ASKwhy. It's the 1st issue after event, Geoff needs to A) try and make it somewhat accessible for readers wanting to jump on (introducing readers to all the characters) and B) he needs to set-up his own chess board for "Brightest Day." It's essentially what I expected from the issue, and I thought it was pretty good.
I am a bit curious to hear Norm's prediction though. If only he could tell us...
I feel that this story IS about Green Lantern. I think Hal, being one of those "new guardians", that focusing on them makes sense, because it's all directly related to Hal Jordan. If Hal Jordan is a guardian... shouldn't his story be about them too? or should that be a whole 'nother separate book? You take -that- part away from this story and I'm afraid you're kinda left with, at least right now, the soap opera stuff with him and his love-interests. THIS is, right now, Hal Jordan's story and everything related to him.

I wonder if theyre going to make Hal start to look more like Ryan Renolds the closer we get to the movie coming out.
do you think this issue wasnt good because of Johns? i mean Geoff Johns really has been having a heavy schedule - with brightest day series, the flash series, green lantern series and so much more. so maybe he is more interested in getting the brightest day issues off to a good start instead of thinking too much about the GL series.
