    A Box Office Poison Christmas

This issue of 'Box Office Poison' follows each of the main characters over Christmas. None of the stories can really be considered "happy" in the mold of a traditional Christmas story. They are true to the cynical 90s, and the style of other BOP stories. So along with toys and presents you get, annoying relatives, loneliness, unemployment, homelessness, depression, divorce, eating disorders, suicide, arguments, dogs crapping in the house, cancer, and death... you know, not your typical Christmas stuff! But also as with other BOP stories, there is a kind of hope to them, or at least a life-as-survival-any-way-you-can type philosophy. In some ways that makes these Christmas stories more true to the spirit of Christmas than all the contrived feel-good confections that abound this time of year.
