I preferred Blade before they 'vamped' him. A near psychotic vampire slayer is more interesting to me than any half-vampire 'Daywalker'.

I liked the first two films....that's about it.

I do. Blade has had three movies, a television series, and an anime. Thats more than plenty other characters can claim. The problem is that he lacks a supporting cast and villains because he goes to kill them most often and prefers working alone. Marvel seems to do Blade well everywhere but 616.

Ultimate Blade is awsome 616 Blade just needs writers who care about him

@daredevil21134: 616 is pretty choppy. He's a pretty different character than he was when he first started out. Blade needs a writer who didn't get their info on him off wikipedia. Like Guggenheim did.

I'd get into him but there doesn't seem to be any particular run that's critically-acclaimed and recommended for people who wanna get into the character.

Back when the movies I came out I was really into him and I still like him a lot.If he gets his own series I would be really happy about it and I will definitely buy it.

his comics are good. and by comics i mean minis. too bad they remember him only 1x or 2x every 4 years.

I'm a pretty big Blade fan. I have met quite a lot of hardcore dedicated Blade fans too. Generally as far as my own perceptions, websites like Comicvine, Comic Book Resources, Marvel.com, so on tend to get a lot of fans from current books or recent books. A lot of fans (sometimes older) dedicated strictly to characters or books that haven't been relevant for a while tend to migrate to smaller more specialized websites to cater to their interests. Unfortunately Blade hasn't had that much of a presence in comics really for a while, although Revolutionary War by DnA hopefully will give Blade some renewed vigor and interest.

I didn't even know Blade was a comic book character for a long time, I though he was just a movie character.

Just about every other version of Blade is cool except for 616 Blade

When written by someone who knows what they are doing, Blade is very interesting. Problem is, most writers know fuck all about the character. And Guggenheim is a perfect example of what I mean.

Midnight Massacre storyline I'd a good example. Blade in his growing fanatical hatred of the supernatural allowed himself to become something he hated just to accomplish his goal. And he hurt people whom were friends and allies along the way. And since then, though he lived, he isn't nearly as obsessed as he once was to the point of self destruction and has an easier time of seeing monsters as people.

Problem is, most writers don't know any of that. They try to copy Wesley Snipes and it ends up lame.

@blackwind: Well, that's a shame. i find it amazing that the movie made him a better character than they ever could in the comics. who would you want to write a blade solo book and what artist would you like to draw him him ?

@cloakx14: Al Ewing. He had the Blade characterization completely on point in Mighty Avengers. And he wasn't afraid to do what most writers keep messing up on: Have Blade fight against things other than vampires.

I feel like Blade is very similar to Spawn, in that, yea he's pretty damn cool and all, but after the 90's ended people stopped giving a sh!t.

I like Blade, I think he just needs a supporting cast and stories that don't revolve around the supernatural. Also a writer that actually cares about him.

But the supernatural isn't a big showcase in Marvel. I actually like it.

@ilovemarvel23: But that's what Blade is about. He isn't the style to be stopping crime and chasing down superheroes. He's firmly a supernatural/occult based character. Always has been.

Its Marvel's fault they don't do much with it.

@darthaznable: But it's also one of the reasons why he isn't getting any play and they did get more involved with the supernatural side of things you think Blade is going to be at the forefront of it?? IMO he wouldn't and not because he's bad.
